Moloney and Jamar on the move?

Standard fare I would have thought- but if Moloney is indeed thinking about leaving for success good luck to him.

Should be a non issue as he bleeds red and blue though..

Interesting approach from Moloney's manager, presumably with Moloneys blessing. Interesting timing too. Rats and sinking ships and all.

The desire for success is raised as a motivation for moving. I could see Jamar having value to one of the teams pushing for top 4 next year (Collingwood being one obvious example) but Moloney? I don't think so. Any team close to the top four and therefore "ultimate success" already have great midfields and he won't get in 'em. Can't see any of the current top 8 teams wanting him. Perhaps GWS or GC as they will want experience for a few years yet to compliment their youngsters but he could go to them in the draft

Perhaps he could take Brocks place at the Bullants

I agree...I'd be disappointed to lose Jamar's leadership and experience, but we have quite a few promising young ruckmen waiting in the wings.

I would be surprised if Moloney were offered more money anywhere else, so he would likely have to take a pay cut if he wants success. I can't see it happening.

Maloneys Not handling the Neeld pressure on performance and game plan he will be a victim of his own lack of flexibility The melbourne midfields plays so poorly because it plays Maloneys style of game The jig is up for him; always more huff than puff in my opinion

Not up for losing yet more senior players, even if they are moody. It'd be preferable for them to win some games later in the year and accept Neeld's leadership and work together.

I'm sick of being as training club for richer sides. Especially since we had 2 really good young ruckmen under Jeff White, who was a superstar, and both might end up at Collingwood.

Ahh, the old negotiate by media stunt. One of the most annoying aspects of professional sport.

Yep...here we go again. A player with big tickets on self wanting to hold a gun to the club.

What we really have is a player unable to live upto expectations and being found short on adaption.

Played well ( by comparison ) in a poorly performing outfit with little direction but struggles when new lines are drawn. Solution , make out its the club and declare a hunger for success ( elsewhere) all the whiles attempting to disuise own shortcomings. "its them, not me "

Ill give Beamer credit for the nouse to know his mediocre returns this year would only be exposed further with others coming and developing intothte team in 2013.

Good luck Brent. Thanks for the better days and dont bother closing the door as others will be rushing to fill that seat.

Lets just hope the Club is wiser and smarter for all its caving-in in the past

Is any team "in the window" going to pay big bucks for a midfielder who doesn't show up against top teams?

Goo luck to him.

Wasnt it Beamer who was castigating, filthy on Brock for wanting to seek greener pastures ?

The reality is the environment inwhichplayers seek to earn a crust is about to change dramatically with free-agency. Some will go, some will stay and others will arrive. The grass will still be green and the sun will still rise and we all soldier on regardless.

Its a profession, its their jobs and they can do what they like ( within reason )

Id like to keep the Russian.. Id like to get decent compensation for Moloney...Id also like to win Lotto. Life can be disappointing sometimes..lol

Yes I recall seeing this ploy from Yze alot....the year after signing he would be rubbish, the year prior a star. Difference here is Brent is not starring...

That's part of why he is going public now - to garner interest from other clubs before his currency drops due to a poor season.

Now it is tinged with him being unhappy and seeking greener pastures.

Fine with me.

But as far as I'm concerned, "We are on a straight line and he can f*** off to Essendon, to wherever. We are on a straight line and will not deviate."

Mmmm.

Well, "if"Moloney has indeed given his management his blessing to shop around, I would think our recruiting team would be negligent to find out GWS' interest in Moloney. Perhaps an arrangement of sorts will enable a non bid for Viney.

Not sure why there is such anger to these two.

Both have given good service to the MFC, both have only a few good years left.

The MFC will not play finals in their time left.

If I was either of them I would see nothing but grief ahead for the rest of their playing time at AFL level.

If a good offer comes up I would take it.

When it suits the MFC we will fling them e.g. McDonald.

Take the chance for finals glory plenty of other players have done the same.

That is what free agency is all about.

Surely their hearts set on Caddy.

Moloney the backup plan, and there's no way they'll get Caddy.

They'll be asked for Hurley, Melksham, Zaharakis, or a 1st round pick.

The bombers won't come to the table.

They'd use their 1st round pick if it wasn't already shackled to Daniher.

I am scanning this thread for comments of him "bleeding red n blue" and can't seem to find them :) Moloney will cause short term pain if we lose him but he will be lucky to be a second rung mid for us in 2 years time.

Jamar I hope stays but hope we dont pay overs and he honours us sticking with him for the first 6 years of his career when most clubs would have lost faith. We can always pick a mid price mature ruckman as a stop gap with Gawn, Spencer, Fitz, Martin to support.

Moloney needs a different manager. A very poor negotiating ploy given his current modest returns.

Jamar's position is much better. You say you want to stay (thus anyone interested has to pay a bit over the odds to get you to move) and enables you to pitch to your club that :

"i'd like to stay but I have all these big offers help me out here"

Moloney's mesage to the club is very different: "i want success but you are not going to give it to me so i am not motivated to stay". Recruiters hear: "help get me out of here"

Simply not a way to maximise your return.

My bet is he knows Couch is breathing down his neck and panic has set in.

So best thing for him is to get with the plan and return to form. IF he did that then we would have success and so would he in dollar terms.

Be prepared to hear this every year now that free agency is in. It's agents pumping up players value.

I am not going to burn Moloney because of the eagerness of his manager and the utterly altered landscape of FA.

I posted during the HWFUA nonsense that contracts will be signed later and later as agents wait for clubs to give concrete bids for players in the Three Weeks of October Trading and Free Agent Madness.

They're going to wait till the end of the season...

But the good news is that some may actually re-sign.

Jamar said in an interview recently that if there was a contract in front of him today he'd sign it. It's all just words of course, but I don't get the feeling he's looking for the nearest exit. I have no idea about Moloney's intentions, but I'd be surprised if he's seriously considering other opportunities.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
