Well this is interesting. This hints that one of Scarlett/Lonergan is not right and Kelly may not be ready yet. Do I sense a chance for a victory!?

Starts early today with a tweet from the ground where the VFL game has started:-

Few people on Twitter are saying that Selwood is out.... one can dream....

Just had a look on Ticketmaster and it appears more seats have been released.

Bugger.

I'd have been there for the Casey match if that were the case.

Bring on the rain. I'm sure Bailey would love his time over again with today's whether. It should minimise any similar damage and even if we don't get over the line I'm expecting a closer game. Last weeks game is showing we can adjust to Neeld's defensive game plan. Even a closer loss will go toward healing the round 19 debacle. What's more I think the Geelong attitude in round 6 will be a lot less ruthless than a round 19 game when gearing up for the finals. We have a lot to gain out of todays game.

Joel Selwood out (Longergan out too, with Bynes and Gilles coming in). SUBS: Guthrie (Cats), Dunn (Dees)

I would love to know our strategy with the sub. Dunn is only good when playing a defensive role. How do you do this with a green vest on? We obviously just use the sub as the 22nd player with no consideration of them having an impact when played.

Why is Dunn the sub? Last time he was the sub he came on (against the Bulldogs I think), we put him in the forward line, and he did nothing at all. Subs should be midfielders to provide pace and run to weary legs. Don't understand what Dunn is going to provide as our fresh player.

He has the flexibility, to play as a tall or through the middle, isnt great in the middle but can. This type of player will be good if we have an injury, but yeah i wouldnt make Dunn my sub either.

A couple of seasons ago, I went to a night game against Geelong at the 'G. It poured all night and the one memory I came away with was that they played as if there wasn't a drop of moisture in the air and we played like a team unused to playing with a wet ball. We were soundly beaten. I hope there's a strong drying wind today or that we've developed a few more wet-weather skilled players.

Why were the two coaches out on the ground for the toss?

Epic fail. Seriously. This is a training drill with only the wind ruining the Cat's party. Scary.

So far only Jones has done anything remotely workmanlike... fortunately the Cats don't have their kicking boots on.

Our midfield is pathetic. Can't believe Gysberts got injured again too.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
