Green apparently out for four weeks with a dislocated finger requiring surgery. Does this spell the end for Brad Green? I've got to confess to a soft spot for Greeny. He's been a loyal servant but somehow I can't see him getting back anytime soon. I was hoping he might be able to fight his way back into the team and go out on a high note. It would be a shame if the last we saw of him was a disappointing game for Casey.

Even after his injury, he'll be back at about round 8. If he is still relegated to Casey, he'll have another 14 weeks to get back into the senior team. It's not the end for him.

Hope it mends well, Brad and we see you out on the paddock again soon. Still got the potential but needs to regain form and desire.

It's sad that having Green out for 4 weeks doesn't at all hurt the senior side. Haven't said that since before 2000!

Bloody hell - I know it is not an injury that will significantly effect the senior team, given Brad's current form slump and possibly waning interest, but really we have had more than our fair share of "issues" this year.

I agree that IF we had that trio up and firing, which I must say I don't recall the stars aligning ever, then it would make a huge difference to the overall confidence of the team. Mind you, if Brad was up and firing it w ould help too.

I have a horrible feeling we may have seen the last of Brad Green.

Sure he will get another game before the end of the year as a parting gift and he should.

But 4 weeks after an operation on his finger at his age?

The way these things go for guys at the MFc This could easily be 8.

That does not leave many games till the end of the year.

Brad Greens body has hardly ever been an issue. The majority of his injuries over the years have been due to the fact he's put his body on the line.

He's 31 yrs old. Hardly too old that a finger injury of 4 weeks is going to bring his career to a premature end. Your comment about it turning into an 8 week injury is poor humour bordering on sarcasm.

His form last year was terrible and it seems to have carried over into this year. Hopefully he'll get another opportunity to play and help our younger blokes transition into great leaders and great players. We have a dearth of older, seasoned players and some of us are all too ready to write them off rather than try and re-ignite their twilight careers.

Brad has been a very good servant of the MFC

However he is now past performing at AFL level on more than an average basis.

He was average in 2011 and has dropped to poor this year to the point he was dropped to Casey.

He now has a finger injury that will keep him out for min. 4 weeks I still think it will be closer to 8.

Those are the facts it has nothing to do with glasses full, half full or empty.

Unfortunately Brad has reached the twilight of his career from here on he will be a bit player at best.

Take this to the bank he will not be playing for the MFC in 2013.

You'd make a terrible doctor OD because you would always think the worst in diagnosis.

I am sure if Brad Green had consulted you on his finger, you would be warning him of the risks of gangrene and frostbite.

He now has a finger injury that will keep him out for min. 4 weeks I still think it will be closer to 8.

You are right RR I am not a doctor or a good news perveyor for the MFC.

My opinion and that is all it is happens to be based on what generally happens.

How often do we see estimates by the MFc or football industry in general that are way out?

How often does 4 weeks become 6 or 8 or 3 months?

Quite often from my observation.

The MFC have a habit of painting the picture at its brighest so not to disappoint the members.

Any thing reported on the MFC website concerning injuries i take with a grain of salt

Right now we do not need more bad news than necessary so Brad is 4 weeks.

I think it will be longer, time will tell

Your comment about frost bite is just a smart cheap shot but go ahead i have a thick skin.

I was thinking before, it would be nice to see a MFC senior champion go out on his own terms.

With the Veteran list in place is this feasible? Are we losing out on anything by keeping Green on our list for one final year if his listed as a Veteran?

Veteran list rules have changed - instead of half the veterans salary going onto the salary cap it is now only $100K per player. So no, I don't think the veteran list will really help Green unfortunately. Would like to see him play out the year and see if he has one more go in him but I don't think he's earned another year on his form in the past two seasons.

I'm happy for Green to be given three more games to reach 250, hopefully with a farewell appearance at the G ... but let's not kid ourselves. He really should have retired at the end of last season.

Cook and Fitzpatrick must see senior game time up forward from here on in. It's time to look to the future.
