Do you think, OD:

That those of us that haven't seen ONE premiership aren't aware of this?

That we are happy with that?

That 'nothing', re achievements, is an accurate rewriting of history?

Don't shoot me I am just the messenger.

But the truth has been before our eyes this last two weeks.

We are pitifull of the field and on and have been for the majority of the last 48 years.

We have been feed spin for the last 3 years in the latest incarnation.

No more please it is just too painful.

Yes. But that was long before '64. I am asking post our last flag which was when an EJ Holden was brand new. Remember the EJ?

It all depends on your definition of success OD. Jimmy knew it.

This club has high morals but no muscle. It must change otherwise we are dead.

Since 1971 three night flags is not acceptable to me. And now we face "another 5 year wait"......

Do you think there's five years left in this club?

What you dont mention is what a farce the club is at board level... they again showed thsi week how weak they are

How so?

Our biggest mistake is that there are not enough of us. That is the brutal reality.

We all want to blame someone.

Boards, CEO, Coaches, Recruiters...we've been blaming the same people for 40 years.

The blame game gets us nowhere.

If there is one message in Jim Stynes' Presidency it is that we have to be united if we are to have even the slightest chance of winning a Premiership.

I think the supporters are very united. We have been for so long. It's time to see results. Supporters pulled this club out of the mud...how much more can you ask?

When I say 'we have to be united' the 'we' is the Melbourne Football Club.

That is the message.

No arguement there my friend.

We have to get rid of those not united very quickly before they burn anymore energy.

I saw unity at Jim's funeral in total glory. But not on the field which was always Stynesy' dream.

Did we learn nothing from Jimmy he never gave up even in the clubs darkest hour or when doctors gave him little time to live. Se must carry on his fight 2011 showed us you get nothing cause you have young talent, the club has put the neccessary sources into the footy dept but ffs if you thought it was going to change in one pre season you were mistaken. And in closing i dont give a fook that some have waited 48 years, either be prepared for some more pain before we move forward or take up something else for th next two years before coming back!

Sorry to read that PSD Your God Mother was an inspiration like Jimma.

1. Sacking Junior. ( Only real leader we have had since Neita)

2. Not recruiting Nic Nat. ( We are in desperate need of a superstar)

3. Picking Scully instead of Martin.( probably couldnt have foreseen this one)

4. Not convincing G.Lyon to coach us. ( The only one that couldve made something of us)

I reckon we would be a completely different team had these 4 factors worked out differently.

Do you think we would be getting smashed in the clearances if we had Nic Nat in the Ruck, Junior still as Captain , alongside Dustin Martin ?

and Gazza inspiring them every week?

Funny how only a handful of decisions, made by the club or key people like Scully and Lyon, can dramatically change the future of a club.

Could you please give me next weeks lottery results while your on a roll

The ones that stay the course through thick and thin and continue to be positive .

Knock the players if they are weak but 23 frees to 1 in a half makes it impossible to win a game .The result was decided by the umpires and the crowd by half time .I would give up if I had to play with those umpires.he players did well to keep chasing .

We lost because of the umpires huh... Is that your version of staying positive? If so, you are a blind fool. Your posts continue to get stupider...

Geelong go alright... Port, Sydney, West Coast, Adelaide, Brisbane, North, have all won flags with less members than us... I think that's an excuse

The truth has been before our eyes for much longer than that. Some just use the last two weeks as an opportunity to feather their own angst.

We have achieved nothing since '64. Let's get that straight.

Well it's hard to gauge success solely by premierships, when there's only one trophy worth winning. By that measure, 17 clubs will ultimately fail each year.

But this is the reason we chose to rebuild our list so dramatically, and why a champion like McDonald was sacked. The club and its supporters were prepared to endure 5+ years of pain in order to give ourselves the best opportunity to win a premiership.

The reason supporters are so disheartened at the moment is because the plan doesn't appear to be working - after 5 years, the 100 point drubbings continue as our prized recruits are outshined by a player off the rookie list.

When I think about this mindset, I spare a thought for the minnows in the English Premier League. How do they value a season, knowing that every trophy will almost certainly be taken out by the big 4? Is it a success just to avoid relegation or do they just savour each victory along the way? Melbourne has given us some wonderful games, stories and moments over the years - are they all worthless without the validation of a premiership? Of course not.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my concerns. We've gone backwards since 2010 and I can't see where the improvement is coming from. I don't know how much of a factor the loss of James McDonald has been, but it's plainly obvious that importance of true leadership was grossly undervalued. To assume that any player could easily take on the mantle and set the standard for the team was a huge mistake.

Actually . Our supporters base are weak ,short-sighted ,fickle and stupid. Our board is fine ,as are most of our picks .

Our REAL fans are ,some of which are here ,are awesome ,loyal ,stuanch and maybe a bit masochistic .

FCS

The supporters, fickle or loyal, cannot go on the field, go under a pack and get the ball out, make a rational decision as to what to do with it, and get off their lazy arses and run to receive and deceive. They cannot formulate, and then implement a kick-in strategy or any other part of a game plan.

Even a coach can only do so much - and incidentally not reverse decades of insipid culture overnight.

Some player or players need to make a decision to pull their fingers out and go out there and LEAD, LEAD BY EXAMPLE. INSPIRE!!

When did we last have someone who regularly went out and did amazing and inspiring things on a regular basis? Neita? Lyon? Flower? Jimma? Scant pickings.

Without this sadly we are doomed, regardless of any amount of money or any number of specialist coaches, equipment or facilities.

We need players with HEART. Without a heart you die,

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
