Makes me worry about how strong our list really is after 4 years of pain.

I reckon the commentary has been good. The interviews before the game and during half time were a bit cringe worthy but the actual game commentary is fine.

Curtly Hampson will be a gun. All the silky skills with a bit of grunt

Townsend. Really tough and reminds me a bit of Jordie McKenzie in the way he is so dogged.

Ward, Junior, Cornes, David, Rhys Palmer all doining really well.

Backline is good

Forward line is non-existent.

Swans

Some good signs from some younger players.

Lewis Jetta tore GWS apart

Goodes is a superstar, even when he plays an average game.

However, if this is the best they can do against GWS in the first game, I reckon the Swans could take a big dive this year.

Tim Mohr looking strong and composed - did the Dees ever seriously consider him?

Yes i think our excuses are well over. No more talking about kids getting games. Our list just has to perform. After 3-4 years of drafting we have about 12 players that we still do not know if they are any good at senior level. 2012 will reveal a lot.

If it doesn't then this list is in big trouble.

I wouldn't read anything much into this game in terms of scoreline or how competitive the giants were. There were a lot of mitigating factors.

1- Swans played some of the worst football I've ever seen from them.

2- Umpiring was very one-sided. You may have noticed that the Sydney forwards couldn't buy a free. Imagine how the score would have blown out if the frees in marking contests had been payed.

3- The Swans really weren't trying. They were strolling around the field doing training drills for a lot of the night. This of course contributed to point 1.

As for Mohr, I thought he was pretty solid tonight. If I recall, he improved drastically last year. Before that he was never in contention for an AFL spot. He just happened to click at a time when GWS could grab him outside the draft.

Yep, aggression was the big difference to me. Was it targeted drafting, coaching or both?

Thankfully I decided to bring round 1 in with Casey-v-Williamstown. Gave the Swans-v-GWS match a miss, although I would of liked to have seen how Junior went.

Wish I could say the same. I made the wrong choice hoping to see a blood bath on tv but it didn't happen. :-(

I was watching the game in the background on and off.... did someone forget to mow the ground prior to the game? that surface looked ordinary.

It was not the prettiest game of football, but Sydney don't play pretty nor do they tend to [censored] teams by 100+ GWS battled hard though, and made a better fist of it that GC did in their first couple of games.

However, they have no backbone of strong key position players. Cameron looked a prospect but heaven help them if they're relying on him and Setanta up forward. Power and Scully (if fit) will help.
