I love Brad Green don't get me wrong 2010 was fantastic for him but he isn't captain material have him step down and he will perform better.

But on to the topic at hand CHIP, just about the only bloke who goes at it every week, is strong, fast and makes plays, his only downside is that he is terrible infront of the media but I dont really care, throw Watts in front of the camera he seems to like it....

Let's get it done people.

CHIP FOR CAPTAIN.

i voted NO

he is not polished enough in the media

1. Couldn't be any worse than Green w the media.

2. Last time I checked Maxwell wasn't the smoothest I've seen!

Who cares about media roll out Neeld everytime.

Captains on field actions mean more than media performance.

I know many players had a poor season for whatever reason, and Aaron Davey was certainly one of them. He can't turn to garbage just like that but I would give him a shot!! It might be the making of him. Perhaps Mark Neeld will have him in a role that fits his qualities

Giving it too soon to a young player just adds an extra burden they don't need!!

I wonder how Brad Green will play and lead under a new coach?

Anyway, Jack Grimes for mine, with Trengove, Jones and Rivers as assistants.

Chip would make a fine VC...but its Trengove for me. He has the complete package. Its not an indictment on Frawley I just think Jack ticks more boxes :)

JT already has a certain 'presence' about him, on the field, within the club, and in the community. He comes forward when he has to, says what he thinks. I think the team needs a young man of integrity and spirit who can really play football. He's mature beyond his years, and it was the fact he'd played great football amongst 'men' in SA that made him so appealing as a draft pick.

I don't think he's too young to be captain; most of the older players should look up to him with a strange mixture of respect and shame.

Its a tough one for Neeld but certainly one of his first jobs. Whether he keeps Green or not, and who he choses. IMO, Grimes and Trengove are born for the roll, its just perhaps a factor of being too young, but until then, there doesnt seam a prime candidate to keep the roll nice and warm

He can share it.

The closest bloke we have to a captain is Moloney but he isn't a captain.

So instead of putting one NQR bloke in there to flail about, why not spread it over three.

I don't like the idea of shared captaincy, but I don't think we have the luxury of giving it to one person.

Unless we trade in a captain...

Trengove in the leadership group but not ready. Let him mature.

In the meantime, Moloney did well that week he took on the job in Green's absence.

But, hey we've appointed a new coach, who (if what he said on the ABC is anything to go by) has already highlighted gaps in the team to the selection committee. Could it be, he also made mention of the captain?

This is one of the things that Neeld can control. If he takes MM's advice and becomes a control freak at the onset he will hand pick a captain.

However, personally my preference would not be Frawley, he gets big names to defend every game and he needs to focus on that. It's different for Maxwell, he just floats around the backline and looks upfield sorting out who should be where etc.

I'm not a fan of Trengove as captain at this point either. Too young and although his form and potential is exciting, it would be a massive step up for him. Give him 2 or 3 years to develop his game and solidify his perfromances, then he'll be ready to slide across into a captains role without issue.

If our motto is hardness, I'd take Jonesy to lead by example, but as I said, Neeld will pick someone who has shown him with their actions that they should be C.

Said it before in other threads.

I, IMHO, believe JT is the type that can be moulded into a fine, young, and strong Captain and leader of the team.

However, from listening to Neelds interview and how he will be able to judge players from their actions in regards to his 'non negotiables', I'm pretty sure the Coach will choose wisely for us.

Let the players decide. After all, I think they are the best people to judge who has the best leadership qualities.

Also who they have their faith in. You will find this will be a player they would put their bodies on the line for.

Leaders lead and captains are the leaders of leaders. . I agree wholeheartedly that this is something for Neeld to select. Im not a fan personally of some dsort of personality contest being the method. Platoons dont elect Sergeants, others more capable and knowing to the selection, often on merit and ability yes, but by decree not a vote.

I favour trengove for the idea that he does encapsulate those qualities. You can see even now players follow his direction ( off and on field )

This will be a very interesting decision. It will give us an indication of how this team will develop.

Trenners or Moloney please. JF is quiet and very focused on his own game before a match.

No no. The players are behind the 8-ball at the moment when it comes to accepting responsibility. Maybe after another year of learning under Neeld but not now.

The players at the moment need to refocus themselves on becoming a proper selfless unit and keeping well away from any sniff of politics or power peddling

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
