A lot of people write "should of".

Like $heedy, in the lying clip about Harrison and Wills "he come from here....and he come from here too.".

Robertson Crusoe? :D

Alas, we seem to have moved away from clichés and more in to grammatical nitpicks now.

Maybe he was combining those two singers, one famous worldwide, and one from our own club - Robinson Caruso?

I hate the AFL becoming americanised in general

Draft Combine, talk of two leagues ala MLB, NHL etc, if they get their way we'll be chanting Dee-Fence, Dee-Fence, Dee-Fence whenever the ball goes into our defense half. god help us.

Americanization -- don't forget Vlad's talk of having two "conferences". What next, "tip off" time? Maybe cheerleaders after a goal? Or that bloody awful blaring music after a score - does that still happen at the short game cricket?

I'm struggling to think of an occasion where it would ever be legitimate to use "should of".

I'm up for the challenge.

How about, "He should, of course, been willing to kick more often"

(Yes - I know, I cheated by inserting a comma.)

And seeing as we have moved onto hated media expressions, can I please add to the compendium:

Stephen Quartermain saying "He shorts it" meaning he doesn't kick it very far.

And any person who talks about an individual having to do better next time by stating that he must "re-group". How does an individual "re-group"?

Perhaps that should be reserved for the Scullys, there seems to be a bunch of them.

Yes, a particular dislike of mine is the use of "Z" in place of the softer "S". :-)

Unless the origin of the word is French then the 'Z' is acceptable. Having said that, I'm in the minority. People view 'Z' as American but they need to look further back in history and look at who imported the 'Z'.

Sick of hearing "From the get-go". (Basketball commentators, coaches and players use this).

Prefer "Right from the start", "From the beginning", "From the very first bounce"

Commentators such as James Brayshaw, Brian Taylor use this phrase quite often. They're not the only ones, I find many of those on SEN also use "From the get-go".

The term "hand wringing" has got to go from around here. The biggest cop out i have seen for awhile.

Have you ever considered stand up comedy ?

KOTD. It normally rears its ugly head (no pun intended) around this time of year, when was the last time the MFC were KOTD? I think it's a stupid saying, and surely we can use better words to describe a similar situation.

I think the Travis Johnston and Brock McLean deals were the last time when it happened. Would you prefer BBTA - "blessed by the almighty"?

I would have thought the activity is more obnoxioous than the term and represent a far bigger cop out.

Sorry RR, it just makes me cringe when B59 and RPFC talk about getting KOTD. I actually taste sick in my mouth when I read them talking about it.

BBTA is much better. But I wouldn't be going the early crow on the McLean deal, and in some regards the TJ deal either. Hopefully in about 5 years time we can say we were BBTA, but at this stage, we are only "better off", we haven't been BBTA...yet.

I feel similar. I find it hilarious, though, when Jaded talks about being KotD.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
