If you had the power, what would you do?

If you had the ability to do things at the club, what would you do?

I would sack Bailey, get a sacrificial lamb into the caretaker role (i.e. not Viney), dissolve the leadership group with the direction that positions in next year's group are up for grabs based on the next five weeks, drop Green, Sylvia and Moloney and play youngsters, ready or not.

I would also ban players from doing any media this week.

What would you do?

Sacrificial lamb is disrespectful. Is that really how you want to treat a bloke who is working for the club?

Moloney had a virus. he should never have played. He probably believed he could. he was wrong. But he does not deserve that at all. He has been our closest thing to a leader all year, without any doubt. Sylvia has to be traded, like and for the same reasons as TJ.

By sacrificial lamb I mean don't put someone in there who is a legitimate contender for the job next year. It just seems to me that caretakers can get lumped with a lot of negativity and if we keep playing poorly it will harm their chances of getting the job. I don't mean pick someone who isn't any good, I mean, if there is someone (like Viney) who might make a good coach next year, let him come to the process like the rest of the contenders (i.e. with a fresh slate), rather than being burdened with our performances over the next five weeks.

Hold fast to a review of the coach(s) role at the end of the year, as per what Don McLardy siad prior to the game.

Bailey should be given the chance and respect to see out this year at the very least.

We're still capable of making the finals and it seems their are other issues at the MFC that are making Baileys job even harder than it already was...

I would talk and listen to everybody...."Look me in the eye" talks.

I would not be acting too quickly...Yes changes are going to occur but i would be so careful to do them right.

We have sponsors and 40.000 members to consider, as well as committed people within the club.

if certain people cannot work together i would want to know why.

Like it or lump it we need to find a way to invest more money into our football department.

This is not debt demolition. This is a Fighting Fund. Otherwise we will just continue in the cycle.

We have to break the cycle.

I don't think we can do everything overnight without tearing the heart out of the club.

But we have to stop playing soft outside footy. It's just boring and many fans I know who once looked forwrd to the game now are disinterested in the flooded crap dished up. No hard footy played with bodies crashing and Greeny has gone backwards from where he was last year in this regard.

If I wanted to watch a soft game like soccer or basketball, I'd go to them and spend a lifetime supporting those things. No thanks.

We've got to get this back to good hard footy, & we haven't done that for at least 12 Years or so.... 12 Years, geez.....

1 . Give Dean Bailey notice that he will not be coaching in 2012, but encourage him to see out 2011. There is nothing to be gained from sacking him now. If he chooses to leave, that is his right.

2 . Professional mediation between Jimmy, Schwab and Connolly with an independent mediator. Find out the nature of the conflict and let the members know the real situation. I don't want to hear the truth from gits like Caroline Wilson, Hutchy or that Barrett bloke from the footy show. I want the club to tell me the clear truth after mediation. Remove the person who is the distabling force.

3 . Regarding the playing group, take the Malcolm Blight approach. Look at the all the really big losses (10 goals +) over the past 4 years. If there are any players who always play badly when we suffer big losses, de-list them at the end of the season.

4 . Disallow the players to wear our trad strip for the reaminder of 2011. Alternative strip only. They have brought shame on our colours. (Maybe this is a bit harsh?)

5 . Train the whole playing group with ouinishing training. See who stands up.

6 . Demand an answer from Tom Scully. Waiting time is over. Decide now, Tom.

1. Sack Bailey immediately!

2. Give viney the power to control the whole football department until years end.

3. Smash the blues with an experienced tough side.

4. At years end, approach Mathews, malthouse and viney for the head coach position.

5. As a club, we should write a constitution, that never ever accepts mediocrity again, nor throws games for draft picks.

6. Let stynes rule.

1. Sack DB

2. Who ever the intrim coach is tell them that unless they beat both Carlton and the Eagles they have no chance of getting the gig next year, wins against the suns and tigers don't count.

3. Gives Scully 2 weeks to make up his mind, if he tells us he is going then he plays for the Casey 2's for the rest of the year and plays 100% game time on the ball, run him into the ground if he is not our asset.

4. Make sure the following players play against the Blues and Eagles, Sylvia, Maric, Bennall, Strauss, Nicholson, Bleese.... If tghey play 4 solid quarters against these teams then they deserve another conract next year, if not then trade or delist them

5. Make contact with Clarco. Mick won't coach next year and Roos has said he isn't interested. Clarko has some strong ties to people at melbourne so make him an offer he can't refuse.

6. Start to speak to Simon Black. It is clear we are very thin at the top end of our list. Black is still playing solid footy and would be a walk up start to our team, he wants another year which the lions won't give him so let's bring him in for our young players to learn from a pro.

Start the rebuild right now. Drop players that are not going to be long term propositions and find out if some of the younger ones have a future, for instance play Tom McDonald and see if he cuts the mustard, he was prepared to go to great lengths to get drafted so give him a chance to see if it was worthwhile. Give Lucas Cook a few games to see if he has any talent or if he's just another skinny kid we've wasted a high draft pick on. Play Nicholson for the rest of the year and get some games under his belt, he's not a champion but he's a trier.

I'd spend some money on getting some of our long term injury players back on the park, send them to Europe or USA if need be but get the problems fixed. Look at some trades and see what we can get for Morton, Sylvia, Davey, Jurrah, Bennell, Jones, Maric, Strauss and a couple of the borderline players like Bate and Dunn.

I'd sack the recruiting department, BigFooty has more of a clue than our guys and ensure that enough money was spent to ensure we had the time to check out the available talent. I'd ensure that only players that had a determination to win were selected, we're not a charity we are a football club so that's what's important for us not teaching kids how to read; I don't care if the players we select can't read themselves as long as they can follow instructions.

I'd employ a coach that had a fierce will to win and a hatred of losing and wasn't one to play favourites, you play well, you play next week you drop form you find it at Casey.

I'd ensure that the football department was fully funded because if it isn't then you are forever going to be behind the 8 ball.

That's a start i've probably missed some but it'll do for now.

Why the hate for the recruiters??? Lots of talk about too mAny thin kids but come on. We have talent to burn on the ball + look at who they have uncovered from pretty much no where - Howe tick, Nicholson tick. Been pretty concistent see the whole 2010 draft. They have a better track record than most groups in the comp ..... How many "hard nut" on ballers do the filth have or carltank ?? Please, filth brought in ball, and the blues have a couple...but jordie Mac + beamer can be added to.

Lots need to change but I think the targeting of recruiting is plain wrong

Strauss, Maric, Bennell, not up to it, jury out on Blease and most of these are top picks. Nicholson is ok but I doubt he'll be more than a handy player certainly not a star or A grader. Cook hasn't shown anything at casey to say he's a star in the making has taken a couple of marks and kicked a couple of goals, that's about it, nothing startling there. Howe is ok but so was Morton a couple of years ago but he certainly isn't a star. Fitzpatrick is perpetually injured Jetta isn't a great prospect Scully was picked with a bung knee, which is showing up now.

Gysberts and Tapscott are going to be good players and he has had 2 number one draft picks and a number 2 so it's pretty hard for even the worst recruiter not to get something decent there.

We're talking about some high draft picks here and out of the ones I mentioned who would you pick as a gun player?

Agree with most of what you say RobbieF however 2 comments I would differ on.

- Cook I am prepared to give time yet.

- Nicholson is ok for what we used to get him.

Fitzpatrick is a worry, I have seen him a few times and thought he could be good however you are right he is hardly ever on the park.

God we need some luck with a couple of these guys.

I haven't written Cook off I just don't think he's really shown that he's going to be any sort of star or A grade player at this stage; he certainly hasn't been getting great wraps from those that watch him at Casey.

I like Nicholson but he is a good average player at best, I understand that he is a rookie but people talk about the gems that we have secured with low picks; they used to rave about Miller when he first arrived same with Bennell, Jetta etc. etc. These players are fringe or depth in most cases.

I'm not sure...

I think there is a very fundamental break-down at the club's core. The people with power obviously don't care enough about winning, or just don't know how to get there. That's indicative through the response of the players.

I'd look at hiring someone with experience and grunt. There's absolutely no way I'd hire someone inexperienced. I'd even look to the VFL if I had to.

I'd also look at rebuilding again. To think we've gone through how many drafts and we still don't have a Franklin/Roughhead type is beyond me, while the likes of Hurley and Darling continue to rip it up.

Sack the recruiting department today.

Really, I think the current recruiting team has done a good job, the one prior to this one was absolutely woeful. Craig Camerons last draft Morton, Grimes, Maric, Cheney, McNamarra at years end there is a good chance we will only have 1 player from this draft on our list, the year before I think only Jones is still on our list. This is the problem with our club we don't have any players 23+ that are good AFL players. Our recruiting from 2000-2008 was very poor. On Saturday it was the under 21's with a number of older passangers.

If I had the power as a coach rather than a board I would play players in the positions they were drafted to play, we need to stop trying to make players something they will never be.

I think "very poor" is pushing it. Easy to look at the fails but look at the successes:

Players drafted 2000-2008

Jack Watts

Jack Grimes

James Frawley

Colin Sylvia

Rohan Bail

Jarred Rivers

Colin Garland

Nathan Jones

Aaron Davey

Mark Jamar

Stefan Martin

Brent Moloney (trade)

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
