Brad Green on The Couch

Choko

Recommended Posts

Who else saw Greeny on the couch? Firstly, poor Greeny is a shocking media performer.

More importantly, listening carefully to some of his answers and reading his body language (and his bright red neck), it is absolutely clear that:

1. There is tension between club management and players - Green did not deny it when presented with this week's Herald Sun story, and in fact confirmed it when he stated that there was heated debate. He also said all the PC things about pulling in the same direction, but blind Freddy can see there's problems.

2. He, and the club, are absolutely filthy about James McDonald. Green's reaction was cringeworthy when asked - had to feel for him. He was desperately trying to maintain the party line, but everything he was saying and doing belied it. Eventually he giggled, and Paul Roos felt sorry for him and finished his sentence off!!!

So, 18 rounds in to the next season, and we have some serious issues. Nothing new from my perspective, though many of those here have their heads up their backsides....

I saw it.

Green is not a leader.

Club has major infighting.

Green didn't know where to look when asked about Tom Scully.

Worst information come out of the club since....geez.....It was bad.

It was like he was giggling at the dribble he was speaking. Knowing "The Couch" knew everything and couldn't deny a thing.

Whats that movie..."Liar Liar"

Cringworthy of the highest order. Does not put our great club in good light.

I fear it's worse than we think in all aspects of the club.

A transcrpit would be beneficial to all Demonland members.

Yes i would like to know more...i didn't see the chat.

If there is trouble, it must be bought out NOW. and sorted, whoever is involved.

We supporters just cleaned out a big debt...The club have new facilities....We deserve improvement, not fighting.

No more excuses...we gotta go to the cattery this week, GULP.

A transcript won't do it justice. I felt very sorry for Greeny. It's not his fault he's not a leader, and it's not his fault that the management meddles in football affairs.

Whoever has meddled, if that is what it is...it must be sorted..this club is yet to get strong fabric...it is the last thing needed

I'm going to watch it soon, but from what I am hearing here, it sounds fair to say that any talk of Sculls wanting to wait to see how things pan out by years end (coaching, admin etc) might actually stand up a bit. That said, if Green didn't know where to look when asked about Sculls, then maybe that says alot too. Oh bugger it, please may this year end, I've had enough.

Maybe we need to stop sacking and start getting people in line.

If anyone had their head in the sand that there weren't problems they should have realised when Jim stated he was moving into the footy department that we had issues.

Maybe the answer is to stick by Schwab as CEO (sacking him would be a poor move), but go for a stronger head of football than Connolly regardless of what we do with Bailey.

Watched it and glad to see others felt the same way - appeared as though he was thinking "if I smile enough it will mask the fact that I'm struggling to giv you a straight answer" (and I have no idea what to make of his 'healthy debate' response). If Green is going to remain as captain he desperatly needs a PR coach.

From what I know of the situation at the club (and that isn't heaps) I would reckon you pretty much hit the nail on the head there master.

Should add that his answer concerning every player wanting Bailey to stay at MFC appeared to be the only response he didnt have to think about. Make of it what you will...

That he knew the question would come up and was prepared for it?

Bottom line though, if there is problems what are they?

Maybe i am being naive, but i thought our new board and club was a united force..is it?

These problems once again waste time, and stronger clubs keep kicking us.

This summer better sort out all this shite...i want to see this club rise, not continually bicker and fall over with excuses.

i don't know any of the inner goings, but as a member i do want to know.

The other thing he let slip is that scully is in fact suffering from the same knee injury as earlier in the year, then seconds later tried to cover up by saying it's just bruising?? Wtf?

As bad as he was, at least we know more truths from that interview than the spin we get from Schwab and co.

I saw it and felt very sorry for Greeny. He was put in the hot seat with a couple of very pointed questions, and seemed like he was looking for somewhere to hide. I feel sure part of this is because he's not just comfortable in the media, but unfortunately, there's rarely smoke without fire somewhere.

??? I thought it was bruising to the knee that kept scully out earlier in the year, therefore being an ongoing thing. What did he try to cover up?

I don't know.

Anyone?

Jus' spitballin...

Throwin' it out there...

No I don't think that's it. I think it's more that CC is in a non-football role but having been a coach and having a passion for the club, it's hard for him to stay out. Mind you, that's only one of the issues.

I am actually sorry I missed it. I can't hate on Greeny no matter how this may have come across, he is just a nice guy.

Why in Gods name would the club let Greeny sit on the couch when they know he is not a media personality. Captain or not they should have sent in Colin Sylvia. Silky has no problems talking in front of the camera.

I will always stand up and be a proud Demons supporter, but this stuff is pretty embarrassing. There has been a fair bit of it this season, and It feels like it is just the tip of the iceberg.

Yep agree with the tip of the iceberg scenario

I have been hearing from a few decent connected football sources that there are huge internal issues at our great club.

Story is quite a few people in high places dont even speak to each other currently.

HOw we have the ability to implode when we are rebuilding & sitting 10th on the ladder just amazes me.

Sort this crap out now & lets hit 2012 with all personal moving in the same direction.

Why??? This is the stuff that needs fixing up or mediation fast. This is not what Jimmy set out to do.

I've just watched Brad Green on On the Couch just now and I have no problem with the answers he gave. Like he said there is healthy debate in any club inhouse, and I'd be disappointed if there wasn't blunt accountable discussion within our club.

He expressed personal disappointment that Junior didn't get one more gig, but recognised the clubs stance that had he gone again they wouldn't have been able to get games into a young guy.

Paul Roos was having a go at Sheahan for his question, maybe he realised it was something he shouldn't be answered from a club perspective, but I'd rather that than a contrived PC statement on behalf of the club !

No serious issues at all from a body language perspective, and looked relatively comfortable despite a tad nervous. Nothing to see here IMO.

Some of the "worrysome" comments regarding this interview is way over the top from my point of view.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
