Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Maher is a fool, I wouldn't listen to him

Who is this "impeccable source"? Gubby Allen? Maher is a joke. Listen to him sometimes on SEN Morning Glory and he's always dribbling [censored] just to be "controversial" and create some interest in the program. If he didn't do that who would bother calling up?

Andy Maher on SEN's morning show has just stated that, according to his sources, Tom Scully has signed a heads of agreement with GWS but has now had a change of heart and wants to stay at Melbourne.

Did Maher say "heads of agreement"? If so, it would be easy for Scully to back out since an HOA is non binding.

makes sense he has signed sthing I reckon with GWS

I said last year c brown was gone when he was injured at hawthorn and didnt sign

when scully didnt sign and was injured, alarm bells went off.......some people say he is waiting for the new players agreement but that didnt stop Pendles, Swan and many others signing....

hate to say it but i think he is gonesky....gut feelin

he is not the sort of person to wait for a new players agreement.......

A heads of agreement is a non-binding document outlining the main issues relevant to a tentative (partnership or other) agreement.[1] A heads of agreement document will only be enforceable when it is adopted into a parent contract and subsequently agreed upon. Until that point, a heads of agreement will not be legally binding

Correct, lawyer here. This is why it seems like dribble to me. Why would Scully sign a HOA? If indeed he has and wants out of it that's great news to us which means he wants to play for us. Still, all dribble to me.

It's Andy Maher the blokes useless!

Why don't people understand regardless of staying or going, Scully won't be signing a contract until the end of the year. The guy's played 22 games not 200 with a brownlow and premiership like Ablett. Every game he plays his value increases hes an idiot if he's signed anything at the moment

I don't care if Scully stays or goes as long as the Melbourne Football Club wins one premiership in my lifetime that's all i care about.

Then you should probably care if he stays or goes.

I stand by my post above.

I haven't bothered with any of this but all this speculation ignores the words that fell from Scully's mouth.

He said he has not signed anything.

I take a man at his word.

In this case we have a serious hard working man who likes his privacy so there is even more reason to accept his word whe he fronts the media.

I think those in the media ought to be more careful about what they say here after all by saying he has signed something they are clearly asserting he is lying.

If he got annoyed enough he could sue them, they are relying on the fact he wont.

Frankly all the speculation is being media generated.

I think we all agree Scully hasn't signed any contract yet.

In which case this is awesome news. Because until he's signed on the bottom line, it won't be legally binding. If the word is that now he want to be a demon, he will be!

I wonder if it's the same source who told him that the glasses he was wearing all over TV last week looked good.

I'll take Scullys word once he's signed.

Makes absolutely no sense.

Basically all I get from this new 'rumour' is that the journos are pretty satisfied he hasn't signed so they're looking for a new angle to generate speculation.

Seems sections of the media that said "he's gone" are now trying to dig themselves out of a hole.

Maher is a fool, I wouldn't listen to him

To me this is no more or less worrying than all the other Scully speculation.

Especially when he has stated he, nor his family, nor his management have "not signed anything"..

Spot on. It would be silly for him to sign anything now. His currency will climb steadily between now and the end of the season.

The AFL want to takeover NSW and rugby, and Tom Scully is the key pin-up boy for this expansion. To do this they have to double-cross a foundation club which signed on to the AFL's expansion plans based on a level playing field of salary caps and national drafts. The way this pans out will give a pointer to the fate of a number of victorian clubs. 18 clubs is too many clubs chasing too few premierships. the competition is usually over by the half-way mark of the season, then tanking or top four is all that matters. I am praying we can survive our courageous recovery and that our great list can be retained and achieve our dreams.

nice one

It would be nice to recieve an update from the club re: Scully.

Why? What would they say? The same thing they have always said - "we respect Tom and his management's decision to put off talks, we will resume them in due course."

The club could only pour fuel by saying something.

And since when does Andy Maher have the standing in our great game to demand a response from us?!

This thread should be tacked on to the back of the 'Scully' thread, I don't want to drown in Scully threads.

2nd that. IMO the worst football commentator to get a gig on radio/tv. How the hec did he get this gig anyway? I always switch off whenever i hear him on. Gaze/Watson aren't much better on that morning show, maybe worse, but at least they've played at the highest level of their sport. I'm not saying you have to have played at that level to commentate, but you have to be able to add some value and have reasonable command of the English language surely eg., Gerard Whateley and Anthony Hudson.

When Tim was on holidays early this year, Maher & Gaze were utterly unlistenable.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
