Bailey has come out on Fox Footy (press conference just now) and defended the sledge on our players by Carlton and has also refuted the cheat comment from Malthouse.

He rejected Ratten's comments earlier this morning that the comments were more to do with how Carlton were approaching the game after half time.

Good stuff Deano!

Finally we're speaking up and making a stand.....let's hope we can follow this up on the field going forward!

Violins and deckchairs some might say ^_^

At least he has....I suppose.

I don't think he should be defending them. It was a pathetic display of soft footy. What he needs to do is go out and publicly castigate them for being so damn soft. Make damn sure the world knows that he does not accept performances like that. Shielding the players won't make them go any harder at the ball.

If the players and coach don't like the perception of them, then do something to change it.

Talk of the comments being offensive is the easy way out.

What matters is what is done once the ball is bounced.

If not, we're all here again re-hashing the same topics.

Whether you like the term or not the "Line in the Sand" has been drawn by external sources this week and forcing the club to take a stand.

It's a welcome opportunity for mine.

Yeah, it's great but it doesn't mean a thing of we are back here in 6 weeks time...

And Bailey was right to do what he did.

Our club got critiqued by a player of another club. You don't let that shite stain you - I don't care if it is true or not, he was right to defend in public the players I hope he bakes in private.

good to see he had a crack about trengoves tackle saying he has seen plenty the same since with no suspension

Agree. Hopefully it sheds some light on the Laidler tackle on Christensen which resulted in Christensen being rested for a week due to concussion. I can't believe the media weren't onto this. I won't at all be surprised if they don't find out either...

Agree with all of this.

It's great that Bails has come out publicly in support of his players (we shouldn't meekly accept that sort of crap from the likes of C'wood and C'ton. We know their sh#t doesn't stink! ha, ha)............ but the absolute acid test will come at the G on Friday night, and the weeks following.

I fear Leopards don't change their spots.

The best we can hope is that this week a few players with higher skill levels get a run.

Either way I struggle to see us beating the Bombers

The leopards can change their spots.

It is not about winning or losing and never has been - we are decimated with injuries and will struggle to win games until we can field a competitive team

I can live with some skill errors

I can live with inexperienced mistakes

I can live with a little bit of outmuscle by more mature bodies in the right circumstances ( Newton against Gwilt was embarrassing)

I cannot live with soft efforts and half hearted chases. If Howe gets a guernsey - he may spill marks or run to the wrong place - but i expect him to go hard either at the ball or the man with ball.

What they have to do on a weekly basis:-

Go hard at the ball or the man with ball - even me as a hack footballer can do that.

The best way to make people stop saying you're soft is to harden the f*&k up! Being offended doesn't help.

No reason why we can't harden up and defend ourselves publicly at the same time.

Agreed though. Gotta walk the walk and back it up when it counts with hard nosed never say die efforts on Friday night and from here on! Win, lose or draw.

Two points

1. IF Malthouse were to coach the dees next year, by god that would be weird for both him and Maric. Very hypothetical however.

2. Anyone see Luke Ball's trip on Kerr? Is that not cheating as well? Intentionally grabbing an opponents leg?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
