Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think he broke his foot in the first quarter.

Was on crutches post game but no bandage on the foot. You'd think if it was broken he'd have been in hospital getting x-rays and a cast/boot.

Perhaps just bad bruising?

Fingers crossed because I reckon Bail's game today was good enough to give Grimes more runs in the middle.

Navicular is complicated. I hate to make the comparison, but it's similar to Matthew Egan's bad break which in the end, force him to retire.

Dont you dare be saying things like this around here. I dont care if its true, i dont want to hear it!

Grimes has broken his navicular bone. Would be surprised if we saw him back this year.

Where did you hear this news???? How would they know without having done an xray?

Your source?

Definitely definitely need a source for this. Don't scare us with navicular without backing it up.

Didnt hear what the diagnosis was exactly, but think Richo had said after heading into the rooms it would take too much work to get him back out today, but he would be there next week. Hopefully I heard right..

What do evidence do you base this on?. You need to supply this before making such far reaching statements>>>>>>>>>

If this is a made up remark you should be banned for life.

I always find it interesting that the worst news from an unknown source, comes from members with a low number of posts :)

I hope you arent stupid enough to think that just because a person has not been a member of this online forum for long means they are not reliable or that their posts have no crediblity.

A lot of people are stupid enough to think that.

DeeTermination, you would be naive if you think that members who have a track record of posting over a longer period of time, and who have a known history of being reliable, are better believed than an unfamiliar member with limited posts, particularly when they post such a comment, and then fail to respond to follow up questions.

This doesn't mean that new members are less reliable or credible, it means the rest of us are unaware how credible they are.

Think of trusting a 4 year old friend versus a recent acquaintance. You may not rule them out, but if unsubstantiated so may not trust them straight up.

All i'm saying is my sources have reported a broken foot - for most of you that know anything about anatomy, a broken foot almost always means the navicular as it is kind of a wedged bone, can't move under pressure and often takes a lot of stress at it's skinniest point. So it's not anything different to a 'normal' broken foot.

And most of the time, a broken foot isn't all that bad, similar to a broken arm or something, wait for the bone to heal, which doesnt take long as it's a very small (but vital) bone. The only issue is the inability to perform any weight bearing tasks.

EDIT: completely understand the mis-trust, been on this thing for not long compared to most of you lot, however love the dees and i wouldn't go around making up [censored] and bull stories just to [censored] off my fellow supporters.

No offence, but I hope your source is a fool  Don't know that I could stand another season without Grimes, and I'm sure it would be heartbreaking for him too. Let's hope he's ok.

All I was saying was please don't judge a poster who has a low number of posts as uncredible just for that reason, it doesnt give us new guys much of a go at it. Point taken re the trust issue.

I appreciate the edit section of your post. I am not saying you are right or wrong with your prognosis however I would have thought that Xrays would have to be done before confirmation. The media had stated early it was an ankle injury.

Have a look at the video of the team singing the song post match.

Grimes joins in, and I can't really tell if he's on crutches. He is definitely not on two crutches, possibly just one.

Can't have a broken foot if he's up singing the song. Anyone who has broken anything from the hip down before would tell you that standing up singing is not top of your priority list. Unless you are really high on Morphine. So fingers crossed!

thanks demonwithin - is that Mr demonwithin, FRACS (Ortho)???

Always glad of an expert opinion and prognosis even before xrays, scans etc.

You must be a wizz!!!!

Did you do Matthew Egan's operation??

Don't pretend to know too much about it but Bruce Reid ( EFC doctor) told me that they always bind ankle/foot injuries to limit swelling unless it's broken in which case they don't.

Someone probably has a microscope to see how the foot is being bandaged post-game

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
