I'm incredibly happy about this! Great to see we gave him the lifeline! Can't wait to see him playing and kicking some goals! Welcome Fev, now is a new beginning for you, I hope you succeed and for God's sake keep your pants on!

Fev the Scorpion

Fevcasey%20316B.jpgFormer Brisbane Lion Brendan Fevola has signed with the Casey Scorpions in a bid to resurrect his AFL career

Mon, Mar 07, 11 BRENDAN Fevola will play with VFL team Casey Scorpions after signing with the club on Monday.

Fevola's management company Velocity Sports confirmed on Monday night that the former Lion and Blue forward had put pen to paper with the Scorpions in a bid to return to AFL ranks in 2012.

Whats done is done.

The main problem I see from watching Carlton and brissy (with brown out) kick the ball to fev 9/10 times because like it or not the bastard is quick and presents as a target everytime when the midfield looks up.

Lucas cook won't get a look in.

Lucas Cook played some of his matchs for Vic Country Under 18's at CHB as well as CHF. Never Full forward. Therefore, cannot see why we cannot develop him in either of these positions and if needed play Cook at FF. and Fev in a forward pocket. Could develop into a mentor. And I hope he does- could be the best for him and the club.

hmmm im not sure what to think about this....could go either way for the dees. Fingers crossed he is a good influence on our younger players but im not holding my breath

Bit shocked by this decision they better have an iron clad behavioral clause in his contract.

Honestly the guy has only ever reflected himself to be a complete toss who drinks his own bathwater.

Should be played at full back teach him some humility. I can only see this as a potential to disrupt our kids' development. I just hope that Casey has enough character to keep Fev under control.

Posted

would prefer he didn't play for Casey.

BUT... the only tall forwards we have on our list are really raw and developing= Cook, Howe, Fiztpatrick

Those 3 guys could learn a lot of tricks from Fev.

I just hope he stops being a d*ck and makes a decision to stop drinking alochol ffs

ok he stuffed up at the blues and got the chop but he then was sent to brisbane where his betting problems came out and so did those photo,s which had been doing the rounds for a while.

then his wife packs up the kids and runs back to victoria, he has put his name threw the mud no one else come on.

let him spend this year building some credit back.

l hope that if he keeps him self clean for the rest of the year we pick him up with a one strike contract .

we need a full forward and Watts could learn how to be more harder to the ball.

l no you will slap me on this but l hope to god he can get his life back on track and Melbourne just like Jim Stynes at Reach give him one more chance.

what do we have to lose and he has every thing to prove just like Ben Cousin,s and some of those collingwood players

Totally agree. Next step- DEMONLAND.

It's hard to keep news like this quiet, isn't it?

Well it's true, we've had a high powered meeting here and the Fev is now officially writing for DEMONLAND. We've even bought him a set of crayons to enable him to better perform his duties!

he'll definitely be an influence on our players. An influence on what not to be. I would not let Fev within 100 miles from the MFC. He is a cancer, a leopard that will never change his spots.

how the hell is this in anyway good for the Dees? We have invested in Howe, Cook, McDonald etc and now our affiliate recruit a bloke we will never recruit who only plays full forward, the one position we desperately lack !!

How is this anything but bad for us? We have Juice, Cook and Howe hopefully playing key position for Casey seniors this year and we will have basically one spot for them to learn their trade ?

ridiculous decision, whilst the Collingwoods develop the Dawes etc under their own guidance.

I see this as a stuff up by us. We should have insisted he never plays as we want to play Howe etc at full forward.

Would I prefer he not be at Casey - yes. Will I go and watch more Casey games now knowing he is playing - yes.

None of the players you mentioned would I expect to play full forward any time soon. Cook playing at CHF with Fev getting the attention is not a bad thing. He may be a tool but he knows how to play key forward and they can learn alot from his lead timing and angles and body use in contested situations. My understanding is Melbourne players only train once a week with Casey and those that will be led astray by Fev would probably be led astray by others if it was not him.

And who knows maybe he might suprise everyone and knuckle down for a final shot at AFL.....

So; stamp our feet, cross our arms and huff and puff?

Roger that.

i think you will find that is the reaction of some at the Dees.

Melbourne chief executive Cameron Schwab said last night: “We made our position clear to the Scorpians that we didn't support it but in the end it was their call.”

Melbourne football manager Chris Connolly warned last week: "We would expect when it comes to decisions made on playing personnel, the opinions of Melbourne Football Club would be taken into regard.’’

Casey have done the wrong thing by us. no doubt.

Agree. Not happy with this at all. A Carlton official was quoted a couple of months ago referring to the many stories about Fevola we didn't hear in the media. One example he gave was of Fev ridiculing team mates who were doing extra sessions in the gym. Don't want someone with that attitude anywhere near our young players.

I hope we either derail him with booze before the season starts or Howe kicks him in the head trying to take a screamer 20 seconds into the first game.

Utter muppet. Sad downside to having to deal with teams just for geographical and financial convenience.

He'll be there 1 year max.

In the end, I'm not convinced it'll make much difference at all

(to Melbourne, to Casey it will be massive.

And when I say Melbourne, I mean the club's future success and development of their players.)

Agree absolutely

We need Fev's influence around our young players like a hole in the head. It is most disappointing that we don't have sufficient influence over our affiliate to manage a distraction like this !

Let's hope he gets OP or something worse before the main season starts.

Sorry Fev - most uncharitable of me,I know - but your track record demonstrates that you can't be trusted..... and we don't want our young players playing under a "full-forward centric" game plan

Just shows the advantages of AFL clubs with their own VFL teams - Collingwood and Geelong

In trying to get away from your sarcasm,I believe it is better to be active this way than at the Casino ot at a bar boozed. Maybe the crayons can play there bit with his daughters(make sure there are many RED & BLUE one's) and get his family life back in order.. You know J.S very well also- and don't tell me that he would not have been told before the final decision today.I'm told he trained with Casey twice last week therefore trained with our young Demons also. I am not saying this is a brilliant move- however, I believe it could be.In alot of ways it is up to him and he could be, repeat could be a shinning light. At least I hope he doesn't misbehave at all.

We have had several players burn their money gambling over the last few years and I hear one or two are still currently doing so. Also, I recall, one of our favourite players got into a bit of trouble boozed at the Casino a few years ago and is now on ou payroll. Therefore we have forgiven him- hope one day we can raise our heads and say we through Casey and just maybe through the MFC we enhanced Fevola's quality of life.

I have just come back from Malaysia but was at the ground- Visy Park with a couple of Demonlanders and told them he would be at Casey this week.So please send Fev the biggest box of crayons as he will need them as he will have alot of time on his hands if,we and it won't happen don't accept him. I wish him all the luck he can gain.

Fev is a serial offender......no doubt. But he has voluntarily gone into rehab for an obvious addiction. Maybe, just maybe, our kids up forward might actually learn something from him, that Juice and BM couldn't or wouldn't teach them. God forbid, but this might actually turn into a positive. Not all on Demonland is doom and gloom.

I'm not very comfortable with this decision for the reasons others have stated. However, at the end of the day it was Casey's decision, and they have opted in favour of the $s that Fev will bring through the turnstyles (ie. a high risk/ potential high return business decision). Let's hope that it doesn't come back to bite Casey or the Dees.

I am fairly reliably told Fevola has already trained with some of our young ones.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
