Hearing in a few different places that Malthouse is not keen on carlton at all.

Does anyone dare entertain the thought that he might be on our radar come seasons end?

Considering the position of the MFC when Dean Bailey was unanimously voted in as coach, i think he has done a mighty job.

Coaching during 2008-2009 with the Handbrake on would be very difficult to do over a prolonged period of time.

I look forward to seeing what Bails can do now that the brakes are well and truly off.

Mick Malthouse coached at Wet Coke & the Filth with every possible financial extra given to him.

He is a good coach yes, but it took him a long time to get a Filth Grail.

Does Mick REALLY want to coach again at the Top Level??

I think Dean Bailey will do just fine for the next few years

It's an interesting suggestion, I think I'm still confident in Bailey though but, on the condition that we slump to the bottom again this season then I think he should definitely consider the man who wears his moustache proudly to come skipping through the gates of the Demonic realm.

Also need to think how long Malthouse can coach for, will he want to coach for another 5 years? That may be how long it takes and I dont think he will want to go and develop another team rather step into a team which is close to the top. Either way I think it is pretty interesting how the Pies are doing it, I really hope they go like crap next year (even more than usual) when Buckley is in charge.

Take another look if you think it's a coincidence that Malthouse coaches teams that continue to get so much out of young players and tend to exceed expectations. If you genuinely thought Collingwood were going to dominate like they did in 2010 and have the potential to do over the next few years when assessing their list a few years ago you're lying.

There are no coincidences, only the illusion of coincidence.

Anyway, what has this got to do with Melbourne?

I fully support Bailey as he has a plan, whether its wrong or right he's clear in what he is working towards.

On Malthouse coaching, at WC he inherited a team of talent and made it professional, before he arrived WC were not better than a wafl club in the AFL.

At the pies, he took a very average group to 2 grand finals before crashing and rebuilding. He can get the best of the players ability out of them and thats what you want from a coach. Get all he can out of them.

He's also not sentimental, plays the players to win and doesn't play favourites.

Agreed, but he has been a coach for over 25 years, and a dam good one i might add-and a good bloke.

But his peak will probably be 2010-11 so i don't think he would be a great fit at MFC.

If 2011 is a bad year for the pies, well then maybe still his belly burns.

Edited by why you little

I believe that Mr Malthouse began his career overseeing a number of female data process operators in a Victorian public service department. This management style may work for the wobble people but I doubt that it would suit a fine club like Melbourne

Unless you're Leon Davis. He had to nearly lose them a grand final before he got dropped.

Oh please get your head out of your posterior!

The guy has coached two different teams in two different eras to Premierships plus a number of grand final appearances.

He got an inferior side into two GF's against one of the best sides of the last 50 years and almost pinched one.

The guy can cut the mustard.

He is welcome any time at the MFC for mine.

This is crazy talk. We should be backing Bails in 110%

For the next 11 rounds then decision time arrives!

In the same way it does for a lrge number of the players every year.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
