From Claremont WA - 179cm 75 kg Midfielder with good kicking skills whose talent is undoubted. Considered to have a big upside.

From Inside Football Draft Special:-

MICHAEL EVANS - Claremont,WA Born: 13/7/92 Ht: 179cm Wt: 75kg "Michael's a smart player who is very creative. His biggest asset would be his game sense playing through the midfield and occasionally down forward. Still small but going through a growth spurt." - Claremont football manager Dean Horsington.

Love the fact this kid gets to live the AFL dream in an extra special way, by ending up at MFC.

Really looking forward to seeing him play.

Yeah and when he gets it Claremont seem to get the job done. Could be a useful addition to our engine room.

Michael Evans, the sleek, slick-moving Lamborghini of the Claremont colts side, made his long-awaited return to action at Leederville Oval on Saturday, with a polished performance against East Perth.

His was a highly-encouraging performance before the side prepares for the clash with top side East Fremantle in the second semi-final at East Fremantle Oval next Saturday, writes Ken Casellas.

The 18-year-old Evans had missed several matches, recovering from an injured hip muscle and he eased back into football in a forward pocket before exploding into top gear when switched on to the ball in the second quarter.

He was one of the catalysts of Claremont’s solid 55-point victory which gave the side a record of 16 wins from 20 qualifying-round matches.

Evans, who took 11 marks, had 17 kicks and made four effective handpasses, again revealed his great value by sending the ball into his side’s 50m attacking zone eight times.

So lets put him in the Casey 2's and see if he can make the ones. If so, lets see if he can crack it in our highly rated senior midfield.

My bet is we won't see him in the seniors for a couple of years yet.

He is still young and has time to find his groove.

The rookies are exciting picks, as our FD have a knack for finding keepers.

Good luck to the kid, a MFC supporter pulling on the jumper would be a dream come true!

From memory there was a rule regarding interstate rookies, I remember we had to keep them for 2 years, does anyone know if this is still the case.

After watching robbo show I have a lot of respect for the kid. This kid has done some real hard yards. Hope he can keep his body together. Got a good head on his shoulders.

Three years is a long time in football.

He is lightning quick and was highlight to watch on the weekend.

Hopefully he becomes a regular, seems to me as a better version of Sam Blease

I remember the few games he played before his back injury.

Ball magnet ,pace to burn, nice skills.

Like Max ,Blease ,Strauss-forgotten about due to LTI.

Is he named?

I really rate this bloke.

His interview on The Robbo Show is first class.

May not be big names, but I'm expecting small, but highly effective, steps from the likes of Evans, Matt Jones, Terlich and Kent.

yup, they all seem like a glimpse of light in what is already a dark season don't they? Although we are yet to professionally see Kent.

He's clearly got the right attitude and is talented enough.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
