Who will break out in 2011?

Spencer - Will be much more bulked up and whilst still full of errors around the ground will be very good at ruck work.

Watts - His experience last year and a decent preseason should give him so much momentum for next season.

Bail - Played some serious footy last year and should be ready to consistently perform from the start.

I'm hoping on Strauss, Blease, Maric and Jetta but not confident on any. The fact is that if all those guys have strong years it probably means others like Wona, Bennell, Tapscott and Gysberts don't. Morton I think should have a good year and get back some momentum in his career that was stopped by his injury this year.

I am going to name 3.

Morton - i think if he does not produce next year he might be put up as trade bait. CVan really see him taking the role Bruce used to play

Wonna - Must start producing on a consistent basis

LJ - Watch out opposition back line coaches, there could be some sleepless nights ahead for you

Everyone saying Maric but I am not convinced. Seems to me like he is not getting a fair go under Bailey and as such will struggle to improve. He is better than a VFL footballer but I fear that we are doing to him what Collingwood did to Medhurst this year. Break out year for mine is Watts and Strauss.

Expectations for Blease are low enough for him to really turn heads.

With Bruce gone, there is a spot that has opened up and some games could be had for Blease to show why he was drafted in the top 20.

Tony Mokbel.

Oh hang on - Trengove, Garland and I think we might see why Blease was so highly rated.

Bennell. Watts. Aussie.

Bennell could be anything if he attacks that footy, has superb skills. Aussie similar, has an opportunity to set himself up next to Jurrah and should thrive, needs to thrive.

Watts, I have plenty of time for but expect a few impact games in 2011.

I'd add Jurrah. A full season of his full potential? Unlimited what he could provide to the game.

Strauss has plenty of area's he will need to show improvement in.

Some prominent game time into Gysberts, Blease & Tapscott will be great to see.

So many to name that are still at such a relatively early stage of their development. It's great!

Juice to finally come into the side and kick 100.

I just want to see a red and blue thundering herd stampeding into the MCG.

There are so many kids with High Potential, i just want to see them play as an awesome team, i mean we still have a bunch who have yet to debut!! I have never felt this good before a football season before.

Thanks Stynesy and all the Board, for waking up this Magnificent Beast of a club. If we all drive it properly Journo's are going to be writing about us for years and years.

Lets just make sure that each year players want to come to this club....

Interesting to see some like-mindeds who share the notion it won't be so much individual breakouts but a team-lift. It's called synergy and can have a snowball effect. Even smallish improvements create greater belief. Players 'grow' a little taller, gain a yard, kicks hit targets and handbells become crisp and effective . Sort of like a tuned engine v rough one. Same engine ! :)

You will see the first 2 picks from last years draft start to impose themselves on games. Scully and Trengove will have big 2011. Who needs a big 2011 Morton and Watts, both these guys have a huge upside and great talent, time to show it on a consistant basis.

Addam Maric for mine although I said the same thing last year. It's sounds like he's on the right track though according to Josh Mahoney.

Addam Maric

He developed well in the VFL with Casey. He added some consistency to his game and he has turned up to pre-season in the best condition we've ever seen. We are looking forward to him taking the next step as a player.

Cale Morton

Jamie Bennell

Colin Sylvia

Like to see these three blokes really crank it up a few notches in 2011.

Sylvia can win a brownlow with the right application. In fact I'm going to put $20 on him to do just that!

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
