Gysberts

Recommended Posts

On the program One Week at a time last night DB made specific mention of Jordan Gysberts as an up and coming talent.

He is mentioned in despatches...

"in form young Demon Jordan Gysberts who again showed why he was drafted, with a strong performance around the stoppages. Gysberts seems destined for bigger things." match report vs Bullants

He was amongst the best against Coburg the week before.

What chance is he to play?

I didnt catch all of the DB discussion but boy can he talk! What pearls of wisdon / insight from the coach?

I was just about to say the kid really deserves a game this week, fly him up to Darwin will be a great experience. This kid is impressing so far playing extremely well at senior level for casey against men, considering he's still a teenager. Gotta say well done B.P so far.

28 possies this week :)

Yes, really looking like a great pick. Hard to see him getting in this week though, because Miller and MacDonald are probably more likely, and then if they want Wonna in to play in Darwin, that doesn't leave much room.

Against that, there's no Casey game this week (Interstate match), so he might as well go to Darwin, even as an emergency.

I think Gysberts is a shoe in to play against Port. No inside info but I will be very suprised if he doesn't play.

Likewise.

Form? Tick.

Low key entry? Tick.

Plenty of spaces in the side (injury/omissions)? Tick.

Development year (commitment to inject games in to key future players)? Tick.

The planets are aligned. There isn't going to be a better opportunity to bring him in than this week.

I tend to agree. I don't think he would have been mentioned the way he was unless he was very close to a game.

Let's not forget he's what we got in exchange for McLean. Here's hoping in a year or so we'll be just as happy with this deal as we are with the Johnstone/Grimes deal...!

Looking forward to seeing the kid on the big stage!

there is a lot of love for gysberts on this site...seems the only thing he can't do right at the moment is get into the senior side.

We just want to witness his game style in the big league.. So we can too see where he's at.

Seeing him at the VFL is one thing, lets see him in Darwin.

Inclined to agree. Just Bailey mentioning him coming into the side is enough for me. :)

That said, don't be surprised that when Bailey meant "soon", he probably meant in the next couple of weeks, barring injury. Not against Port. He might introduce him against Geelong down at "Skilled"...what an introduction that would be.

I have no doubt if Tom or Jack weren't playing, young Jordan might've played already.

Is 4 18 y.o midfielders too many? Nah. Wouldn't mind seeing Nifty back in too.

He is certain to play seniors this week.

Expect to see a few players being rested. Melbourne looked tired last week. No run, no spark. There is no doubt some of our young boys are tiring both physically and mentally. No upside in sending them to the other side of Australia to play in the most taxing conditions when there ready made replacements that need to be given opportunity.

He is a certainty to play - along with Miller

Oh oh...you said "certainty"(re: Gysberts), you know what that means...it most often means quite the opposite. Then again, you may have miraculously nailed it ! Not hard considering they were mentioned high in the best from the Casey game.

I'd say Gysberts would be a certainty if we weren't playing at 10am in the heat up in Darwin.

I think the club will hold him back a week or 2 so he can make his debut at home infront of his friends and family.

good point...but if the team gets two wins in two weeks it will make it hard?

It might, but that's probably how they'll play it.

Even if it does, I get the feeling Gysberts will force his way into the side eventually.

As it is he is still showing steady improvement at Casey, so he's still getting something out of playing there.

He hasn't plateaud.

Gysberts will play this year... but i don't see the rush. He is still a developing player. He needs to get stronger and fitter.

If he keeps playing at a level above VFL, no doubting he'll push his way into the team soon

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
