Most ignorant football journalist?

Listening to some draft chat on SEN.

Mark Robinson would have to be the dumbest most ignorant journo going around.

I'm particularly thinking of journos who never played so are only there for those skills.

BT, Harford, Maclure, Shaw and Walls are hopeless but they have playing credentials - not that it makes any difference.

Agree 100%. Knows everything about those at Windy Hill though. That seems to be his "Base Camp" or home away from office.

Never overly critical of his beloved Essendon. Happy to dish out the 'bad' on opposition clubs.

considering Grant Thomas is trying to be a writer for heraldsun/age?? (can't remember which one)

He is awful on Classified.

And i disagree with almost everything he says

No way! I love Grant Thomas on FC. Straight up, to the point, doesn't sugarcoat stuff. Much, much better than Wayne Carey or Glenn Archer.

Agree, he delivers and does the job required. Ie. His opinion on Hudgton over Dawson. He didn't hold back despite being their previous coach at St.Kilda.

At least Sheahan can write properly - with proper grammar and with some eloquence.

Mark Robinson's ignorance is evident when he talks, writes, blubbers, or whatever other useless thing he has conned some Editor on Producer to pay him for.

He is a waste of breathable air and a pox on our otherwise fine society.

And if I were to have him killed, I would be the one to go to jail!

You got that reference aswell, I know you did.

That is also partly why i don't like him, Caro, Lyon, hutchinson only ever go to him when they are talking about st.kilda, and he is so bitter that he got canned by the saints that he never has anything productive to say.

He goes back on his word so much.

agreed he is better than archer and carey.

Thomas wouldn't have the job if not for his involvement at AFL level, so it doesn't really fit into the category old55 had outlined.

Anyhow, I think he does the job required of him.

Anyone else catch this bit of Einsteinien logic from Tony Shaw on Fev in the Hun this morning:

"If he did come to Collingwood, you would make it on the most stringent terms," he said. "If he stuffed up once, he's out with no money.

"I don't know if you can do that with the rules of the AFL because the AFL Players' Association will jack up.

So let me see if I've got this right... Tony is telling the Collingwood captain to shut up because he's got an opinion on Fev and his effect on club culture. Tony thinks that Fev would help Collingwood, but admits that he doesn't know whether they can sack him or not if he impacts on club culture? hmmm

Mike Sheahan played VFA for Werribee. (http://www.vflfooty.com/?q=node/2069). Have seen this reported from a couple of sources but you don't hear much about it.

Tony Shaw wins hands down. Rubbish coach, rubbish commentator, rubbish writer.

Ah the Hun, the non thinking man's paper. Their journos are primed to feed the masses with copy that would often make Today Tonight blush!

The sponsors are very thankful for your kind words :rolleyes:

Mike Sheehan is average at best.

THE thing with mike is that he is a melbourne supporter, but he never writes a good word about the dees, his top 50 has no surprise that he did not pick melbourne player if you look back on the last 10 years he has really pick a demon player even when we were top 4. I think reason he writes negative about the dees is that he does not want to be seen being bias, so he goes the total opposite way, not to show it, he goes too far the other way, in regards to robbo he is a tool and a naff naff, he show total bias for the dons

i was more Offended during last Weekend when i read Mike Sheahan's article about a Drawn Grand Final.

Mike of course wants extra time to be played if the scores are tied.

SHUT UP MIKE. If the game is a draw it is replayed the following week

I like the Replay, & yes i was there at both in '77

You are such a dull journalist, only ever reporting on last weeks or yesterdays news.

Time for the Pethadiene & retirement village old man. SHUT IT.

I must Say though Robinson & Andy Maher are far worse if that is at all possible!!!!

Very well put. I was really unhappy reading that article. I would have loved to have witnessed a draw game in the AFL grand final, seeing them coming back the next week and who could gut it out for the win! It is a great concept and I would think almost unique to world sports (yes we are a world game we play against Ireland sometimes.... with a round ball.. with soccer goals...). I can not think of any other sports I know where extra time is not used to find a winner on the day.

I know it's bordering on unbelievable, but earlier in the year on 7's Sunday morning show I twice heard Robinson say "youse" when referring to his fellow commentators. A journalist.

I don't expect you to believe me.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to sta

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
