i hope he dosen't, he could be the best no. 48 the AFL has ever seen.

I think he'll change... What did he wear for Yeuendemu? Or perhaps he could do Wheels' 45 proud?

It won't bother me in the slightest if he gets another. I just want to watch him take those one handers and him kick those goals over his head.

Did anyone see him pinpoint his kick to Miller for the first goal of the game? Genius.

It was the first 30 seconds of the match and Liam had just been rewarded with a free kick for a solid tackle.... The pass to Miller was amazing!! He threaded it between about 4-5 Saints defenders and hit Miller lace out on the [censored].... That was the moment the commentators started to get moist!!!

IMO, once you've got a number, and played in it, stick with it. Whilst I would have preferred Jurrah to have been given a lower number to begin with, now that he's got 48, just stick with it.

Hopefully this year's crop of draftees will get some of the freed-up lower numbers. Maybe Blease and Strauss, who haven't debuted yet, could get lower numbers as well.

Doesn't really matter, though. It's just a number.

Jurrah should try and get number 9, as long as it doesn't effect his performance.

Is there anything else about Darren Cuthbertson you'd like Liam to emulate? Fortunately he can't follow Brent Grigic, whose best footy was played in #48 before going to #4.

I would love to see someone, ANYONE from MFC kick some 8+ goal hauls. How long ago did we see that? Cuthbertson did that at least a couple of times.

Nah, not quite. He kicked 7 two weeks in a row, followed by 5 the next week and that was all. Other than that he kicked mostly 1's and 2's.

On topic, I couldnt care less what number Liam wears. So long as it's a Melbourne jumper, he can do what he likes. Make the 48 his own I say.

I'd take 7...

I would like to him stay with the same number simply because there are probably 100's of kids with 48 on their back now. My son put 39 on his jumper last year for Aussie only to see him change to 33 at the start of this season. I have to keep telling him who 39 is now.

Perhaps we could follow Richmond's idea and make our longest serving Captain's number into the number all the captains wear. Junior goes to number 9, freeing up 23 for LJ. Jurrah will fit right in with the likes of Jordan and Le Bron James.

Plus, I'm not big on it as an idea anyway. Collingwood used to do it as well - #1 was capt, #2 vice-capt, #3d-v-c.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
