I don't suspect that we'll make finals next year. Although I do expect the boys to really push for it and try to sneak into the top 8. The ability and talent is there, and based off this years performance where we could have or should have won 8 or so games (Richmond, North Melbourne, West Coast, Sydney and maybe even Bulldogs), we should be in a better position next season.

My question is, if we were as arrogant as Carlton (They Know We're Coming), what would our 2010 or 2011 slogan be???

"Winning again in 2010". Or a cheeky one "trying again in 2010".

Finals heaven in 2011.

'The first club will be No. 1 again' or 'Older than anyone. Better than anyone.' or simply 'We are Melbourne.'

My 2010 slogan would be "Move On Up", using the Curtis Mayfield song of the same name as the back drop for all advertising campaigns.

It was sampled in Kanye Wests "Touch The Sky", so all the kiddies should be familiar with the hook.

Joan Armatrading "To the Limit" as the alternate theme with the memorable line -

to the limit here we go, from the bottom to the top

We don't need a slogan. It's not as if we're recruiting for the Air Force or the Army.

Wins on the board over the next three years with an exciting list will be all the 'slogan' we need and get those half-hearted supporters back on board and attending games.

Stupid marketing can create false expectations for all the wrong reasons.

I have that Classic CD. Love it.

Need to think about this, but a quickie off the top of my head;

To Hell and back again.

Or: "We're back again in 2010"

With Carlton's Coming being a case of premature celebration is more likely they'll be singing "thats why they call it the blues" at seasons end.

MFC. New World Order: ..the Demon rises !!

I think "they know we're coming" was one of the most successful membership slogans ever. How much media did it end up getting them? And most important of all they came in for their first finals appearance since 2001. Blues supporters would have loved every minute of it and I'm sure it inspired a bunch to jump on during the season that otherwise wouldn't have.

"don't worry, there's no more decent picks up for grabs" would be my way of inspiring Dee's supporters next year.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
