Jordie McKenzie ...

Matt Demon

Recommended Posts

If Dean Bailey Is true to his word and rewards players for form then Jordie must play this week. He was best on for the Scorps and has been good all year. The next month of footy is a very important month for the clubs future. We need to play some guys that are on the fringe and see what they've got. Bring In McKenzie, Cheeney etc.. The time to list manage is now!

I cannot for the life of me understand why Cheyney isn't in the team every week. When he has played he has been very very good. But then Bailey sends him back to Casey.

What more can he do to get a regular gig in the team? It's frustrating for me, so god only knows how Kyle is feeling.

He has played some different roles down there, learning curve I'd say.

Casey is like The Classroom for these young Boys. They are learning how to win very nicely.

I beleive our Football Dept is doing a mighty Job this year. Casey should play Finals. That is Great experience.

Personally i would bring in 1 or 2 kids a week to the seniors & Rotate them. Don't want the team to get Smashed.

But give the kids a "Taste" of the big League so they know the Requirements over Summer.

You Wait. Jack Watts will shine over summer. He now has Felt the workload of both Playing & the Pathetic Venom of Fat old Journalists who expect instant Success.

Trust Bailey & the Footy Dept....I am (just Don't win more than 4 games)!!!!! & that will be my christmas Present to me!!!

Ditto. Have been impressed with young Buckshot so far and have been shocked when he was dropped after what I saw of him.

I'd love to see Hughes crack a game soon, as well as McKenzie, and Cheney more than one game at a time.

Ideally, changes this week for me would be:

OUT: Robertson, McLean, McDonald

IN: Hughes, McKenzie, Cheney

Out with the old, in with the young.

I've found it especially disappointing as i've got him in my SuperCoach team and he's been performing well there. I like the bloodnut, and hope he gets a chance to have an extended run in the seniors before the year is out.

These would be perfect changes!!!

Robbo and mclean had about 14 touches between them. Robbo is close to finished while mclean is to up and down. I've been a big brock fan, but he just can't get away with that poor performance.

Junior is unfortunately gone... i love him but his time is up...

I would love beamer as captain. Is doing everything right on the field and off. This week has taken all the first year players on a boxing camp down at Warnnabol. Think he is def captain matarial.

juice surely deserves some reward for working hard at casey....

Agreed, give him 1 more chance, get rid of him if he doesn't show something.

"Something" would be to average 2-3 goals a game. I can forgive a few games of 1 goal, but they have to made up with games of 4s and 5s.

surely robbo out and newton in?

scarlett always kills us, so nothing new there!!

robbo - how many times can he fall over, not tackle or miss tackles and not do the team thing?

juice surely deserves some reward for working hard at casey....

I think that we are maligning Robbo a little here. His games against West Coast and Port were excellent in his second efforts and tackles which until then were non-existent. I think having Liam down there with him has eased the workload. SOme of the commentators believe that he should stay for another year so that there is a senior player down in the forward line when the likes of Watt etc come to play next year. I don't know where he will fit but with a full pre-season under his belt it may be worth him staying on. I would however hate for him to have a shocker and go out of the game with us remembering him for all that he didn't do than for all the excitement that he has given us in the past.

I'd like to see the following play in the last 6 rounds:

Valenti - Give him 4 or 5 games to prove himself before delisting

Newton - Even if it's just more entertainment value

McKenzie - Give him a taste like Grimes last year

Cheney - Deserves a spot with his consistent performances

Watts - Obvious choice

Spencer - Depending on form coming back from injury

McNamara - See Spencer

Players to make way

McLean - Is clearly hampered in some way, give him a rest and let him start preparing for 2010 now

Robo - Love the bloke but he isn't the future

Wheatley - We all know what he can do, let him continue to build confidence at Casey.

Grimes - Don't get upset, it's just about making sure he's cherry ripe for next year. He had a late start to the season due to injuries, we know how good he can be, let's just manage his work load this year to ensure no further flareups.

Bate - Not because he's performing poorly, just to rotate the forwards with Newton & Robo

McDonald - It won't happen because he's our captain but it shoudl for all the reasons stated previously.

It's time to put the cue in the rack, play with numbers behind the ball, play them out of position and have Newton at FF. Any player who needs surgery do it NOW!! I hate this stuff but we need to put ourselves in the best possible position for next year.

Id leave Watts out til near end of season. Let him worry over the books and find a bit more form. No need to rush this lad, he'll be around for 10 or more.. so whats the sense in putting in him in for the sake of it. Id even rest Jamar for a few and bring in Johnson with Spencer supporting

I'd play him against the Tigers, Freo and North simply because he won't do much thus enhancing our chances of a loss.

Absolutely no offence to young Jack meant, I think he's an absolute beauty.

Not a big wrap for Hughes Jarka? He's had a super consistent year, and has been on the rookie list for 3 of the last 4 years... The time to play him is now, otherwise re-drafting him was just a big mstake and we should have picked up a raw young tall with that pick instead.

You know what, when I started that post Hughes was the main one I was thinking about, don't know how I missed him.

I completely agree with you, now is the time to give him a chance, and not just one game, give him 3 or 4 in a row.

Good pick up, thanks Doggo

Completely agree, and will play in ONE win against Freo.

Baily said in an article on afl.com.au that McKenzie is unlikely to play this week. Disappointing. Also indicated he would have liked Spencer to have been given opportunity this week although hasnt played enough for casey of late, so chances are we may see him in a couple of weeks....per haps V freo? haha

There is always the Richmond game available for a debut. If he holds his own, he can play in the Freo game too. If he does ok keep him in.

Ah gold!

Checked it about an hour ago, so he must have updated since then - love his previous tweet about jordie being a bit of a brawler in the boxing ring, messing up danny hughes' nose.

go you angry ranga!

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
