Colin, Colin, Colin...

Kiss of Death

could go back even further really.

Some plans and potentials just dont come to fruition..thats life. Intelligence is knowing when to cut and run.

He has before him the chance to make ammends. The likelyhood is despite the misgivings of many he will get that chance. How many more does he get ?

We sort of know what we get from Sylvia.. Id. like to see others get similar chances.

Col appears the thirsty type.. Id really prefer hungry ones in our team !!! ;)

Aint that the truth

Brock was in a similar position last year and looks like he has turned it around. Different circumstances but the process and outcome was similar. Lets not forget that he was being alined by many as the next MFC captain not that long ago (myself included) Lets cross our fingers. Lets face it the MFC need Col to take this the right way and respond.

Picture says a thousands words! And i agree.

I'm a self confessed Colin basher but this is a fairly minor issue IMO. Yes, it's unprofessional and brings bad press to the club just after having some really positive press, but he made a mistake and if it was a big one he would've been suspended for the real season.

I'm dissapointed, but not massively angry. Just get it right, Colin!

I see Brock and Col as two VERY different types. I know which I prefer..both in type and ability.

Some seem to think its just another ho-hum minor transgression by that naughty lad. SIATC etc. Im going to go stand with the mob that have had a gutful of this amateur-like display of responsibilty appreciation ( or lack thereof ).

Hes not new to the club..or the job. and he still just doesnt get it... as the song goes:...... perhaps he never will !!!

Quite simply we dont need him..someone go ram that through his thick sconce!! Many are waiting in line, champing at the bit for an opportunity..I say give it to them..and build on that.

Which clubs were chasing OP riddled players who had not done anything yet? :o

You would have got nothing for him then as you would now.

That's rubbish. 3 years ago Colin would've been in his 2nd or 3rd year in the system. Colin has always looked to be a player with potential and coaches would've taken the punt. To say Colin Sylvia never had trade value, is wrong.

Even TWallet wrote an article about how Colin Sylvia was the X-factor and could be the difference player. You telling me Twallet or probably half a dozen other coaches wouldn't pay for that potential back then?

I'm not high on Sylvia and think for MFC to be successful Colin should be player 18-26 but to say he never had value is wrong.

It's up to him now. It's up to Colin Sylvia to actually make the decision if he wants to take his career seriously.

I've ran out of support for him, in my house he's on his own.

He broke the team rules... again. It's not a matter of how seriously. He told a lie and he must be punished.

Disappointing to see people continue to give him slack. Because he keeps taking that slack and will continue to do so until he is a shadow.

How many chances does he need - he's not good enough to get away with it (in fact no-one should be). Goodbye.

Exactly.

Not only is Sylvia struggling to make an impact on the field, he is not following team rules off it.

He is not such a precious commodity that he can be afforded any sort of leniency, especially given his priors.

Move him along before he loses whatever small currency he has left in the market.

Iver really got to the point I dont care as to his market value...he's just mightily quickly becoming a list clogger !!

It's not about cutting him slack. His crime was not a sackable offence, and if he plays good football this season, I'm sure your support will resume.

If he doesn't play well this year, his position on the list will be questioned, as should be the case with most of our players.

Bingo, not even 1 week into the season and the trade him talk is starting. WHAT RUBBISH

The facts,

- His trade value before this incident was close to zero,

- Post incident this has not changed much (half of zero is still zero).

- To be trade potential he needs to have a really solid year (now both on and off field). If he does this he is probably more value to us.

lets see where he is at in rnd 20+ before jumping the guns!

That's what I'm saying. I agree with you totally

Forget about bagging Colin. The season has not started. He is a MFC player and we don't want to be like team Eddie. I saw Col in the Sydney game and he was great.

Colin was part of the 2003 draft.

Go Demons!

Who would you have replaced him with?

1 Adam Cooney Western Bulldogs

2 Andrew Walker Carlton

3 Colin Sylvia Melbourne

4 Farren Ray Western Bulldogs

5 Brock McLean Melbourne

6 Kepler Bradley Essendon

7 Kane Tenace Geelong

8 Raphael Clarke St. Kilda

9 David Trotter Kangaroos

10 Ryley Dunn Fremantle

11 Beau Waters West Coast

12 Ryan Murphy Fremantle

13 Brent Stanton Essendon

14 Fergus Watts Adelaide

15 Troy Chaplin Port Adelaide

I find myself in agreement with Trag twice in as many days. Whilst my views on Sylvia as a player are known - lacks footy nous, overrated talent, 'just a player' - it's not earth shattering news.

If anything I'm impressed with the decisions our leadership group are making. Prior to the last 12 months he'd have got away with it.

To get technical, wasn't he suspended for round 1 exactly 12 months and 1 day ago for a similar thing?

:P

*edit* that would be from the day of printing ie today rather than the actual incident

A question, just out of interest, how would have Trapper gone these days, if he had been drafted in the last 5 years.

Yes............ I know, many will say that Trapper has/had far more natural talent than Sylv, but anyone one that saw the former number 16 on the "haunts" of the Nepean Highway, could tell many a salacious story.

No doubt, Sylvia needs to pulls his head in, but I reckon he will deliver to us, more than we hope, when it matters, some day soon.

Yeah, OK, I am.............as John Lennon would say................ a dreamer.

Go Dees

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
