Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is one to put on the watch-list.

Won the B&F this year for the Mandurah Mustangs in WA a few weeks ago - in their Year 8 team.

Don't know too much else about him at this stage... except that he happens to be the son of the Wizard.

Wish we had a pic of him like we did of a very young Billy Stretch, but this will have to do for the time being.

The unfortunate thing with him being a WA boy and the Wizard playing over 100 games for both the Dees & Dockers is that one suspects Freo will have the inside lane.

Not sure about that. The Wiz always regretted leaving us and has said it often. He said the best thing he did, was to get away to Melbourne.

Wiz has also stated on a couple of occasions that he would rather see his boys line up for Melbourne too, so there's always hope!

I once bumped into the Wiz lining up for the toilets at subi oval. He wasn't wearing any colours though so I asked him where his allegiance lied. He didn't hesitate - Melbourne

Whichever club his son chooses (on the assumption he is up to the grade), it won't be up to the Wiz, so his opinion is barely relevant.

Strange comment Nash.

One would think his fathers opinion would carry more weight than anyone else's. I'm very happy to see him pushing his son towards the Dees.

It's why I went for "barely relevent" instead of "totally irrelevant".  The kid has grown up in WA, I think his desire to stay home (or otherwise) will vastly outweigh any other factor, including pressing from his father.

I'm just not sure that most 18 year olds, given the option, would move to the other side of the country when given they don't have to.  Don't get me wrong - I'm happy for the Wiz to push him in our direction, but I think people are overvaluing the weight of that pushing.  He's his own person who will make his own decision.

The overwhelming majority of people have their footy allegiances determined by their father. Not a choice of their own.

Seems like the Wiz would have been in his ear, trying to steer him to follow the Dees also. I expect that would have a higher than "barely relevant" influence on his sons choices.

Fair enough.  I wouldn't base a life decision such as moving thousands of kilometres away to somewhere where I didn't know anyone, when I could do the same job without moving 100 metres, based on the footy team my father barracked for.  But I accept others might.  I shall agree to disagree.

Lets put it this way.

I have more confidence that he would choose to play for us if his dad is pushing our way, than if he was doing the same for Freo.

How cool would it be the have another Wiz running around jumping on peoples heads again?

Yep - no dispute there.  It's only the degree of "more confidence" that I'm arguing.  I love arguing grey positions :-)

I would love to see Wiz Jr running around in MFC colours (assuming his son is the same sort of player!) Probably my favourite player through my teenage years.

Did his answer have anything to do with the colours you were wearing at the time?

Dunno about that. There's a high % of AFL footy fans that are women, many more than other male dominated sports, more so than cricket or soccer. I know of many footy mad mum's that have determined their kid's preferences.

Likewise most draftees want to be in the same state, the same city as their family. That would be the true 'overwhelming' factor.

Whilst Jeff might have a soft spot for the Dees and say he'd like his kid there, the reality of family unity might not lure the kid far from home.

But here's hoping he's a gun and chooses the Dees, hey...

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
