  1. I tend to think that Kozzie’s comment about wanting to play in WA with the Indigenous team has been construed that he wants to play for Freo. Poetic license ..Tom Morris ..Sam McClure are perennial offenders

  6. I enjoy watching Pickett play in the red and blue and hope I can watch him in our colours for a lot longer. However, this is professional sport and the players play for teams for all sorts of reasons. I, as a supporter, have followed the Demons ever since I can remember and will continue to do so no matter who is in the team or on the list. If Pickett, or any player choses to leave for another team, so be it. Swings and round-a-bouts. I support my team first and then the players. P.S. it will be interesting to watch the interaction of Kossie with the Freo players at the end of the game on the 15th Feb.

  8. Langdon had more influence than Billings. With Billings having to keep up, often seen behind him. Sparrow was more dominant than Sharp, who struggled to find space. Where-as Sparrow used the boundary side well , acting as a connector from the backs to the forwards. I am going to reserve my opinion on Lindsay untill I see more of him, given that was the first time he joined the main group on Gosch's.

  9. Trouble aplenty right at the top at Ikon Park with Michael Warner getting his teeth into this sordid story that will clearly impact on the culture of the Blues. Carlton boss Luke Sayers’ d*** pic scandal under AFL investigation Blues, AFL probe president after lewd social media post There are already rumblings at the club about the coach after the team fell apart in the last two months of the 2024 season and went from premiership contenders to falling out of the finals with an insipid first half against the Lions in the elimination final at the Gabba. On top of that, players are falling over like flies. Runner up best and fairest Nic Newman ruptured a patella tendon at training today and will miss the season. Season over for important Blue after serious knee injury This comes on top of a bad hamstring injury to midfielder Sam Walsh at training on Monday which will keep him on the sidelines for at least the next month. Charlie Curnow is also on a modified training program after undergoing ankle and knee operations in the off-season. It’s a familiar scenario for us Demon fans, a reminder of what we went through last year. Wishing Carlton fans the best of health in the months to come.

I thought hiding things was their bread and butter

  12. Harley Reid comes back from his break in poor shape. Their other recent high draft pick gets maggoted at a music festival and is charged with urinating in public and not cooperating with police. Liam Ryan gets in a full blown street fight at a music festival. Things looking just peachy on the culture front at the eagles.

  14. Agree. I really like Chandler but he's not going to kick goals from forward line stoppages, he's the likely ANB replacement. Spargo isn't kicking stoppage goals either. I think Brown is probably a wing or small defender. I still have hopes for McAdam but he's more along the Jamie Elliott lines, marking small forward. I can see why we drafted Mentha and are trialling George. You're right, GWS has a heap of small forward types and just drafted two more.

  22. I think the recruiting team have identified the small forward position as a need but just haven’t been in a position to take one in the draft In the past two years we’ve been linked to Nick Watson (we tried to trade up to draft him), Isaac Kako (would have bid on him had Essendon not traded us pick 9) and Joe Berry (I think pick 9 was a few spots too high to draft him, especially with Lindsay still on the board) Personally I think another genuine small forward is our number one priority come trade and draft time

  24. Paul Amy has written an article on Code Sports entitled - Game on: VFL stand-alones carnival set down for Saturday, March 1. In it, he updates Casey’s recruiting news with yet another signing for the club:- CASEY DEMONS have signed Leongatha forward Jenson Garnham, who booted 53 goals last season and was named at full-forward in the Gippsland league team of the year. Garnham also kicked 52 goals in the Gatha’s 2023 premiership season. He had played with Gippsland Power in 2022. Leongatha coach Trent McMicking said Garnham was an exciting prospect. “I’m not sure where the limit is for him. I don’t know how good he can be,’’ he said. “He attacks the footy hard, he’s a really good mark and he’s a neat kick for goal. He has a basketball background and he didn’t really play much footy until he was 16, 17. “He’s super-raw but he’s got plenty of ability.’’ New Leongatha signing Patrick Ireland, who kicked a century of goals for Buln Buln last season, has also signed at Casey. The Demons have also secured Noah Yze, the son of Richmond AFL coach Adem. The 19-year-old forward and midfielder played two games for Casey last year, as well as 11 for Oakleigh Chargers in the Coates Talent League.

  28. I have been to a number of training sessions during the off season, and the one player who impresses me is Langford. Normally you cannot expect much of a first year player, they don’t have the body, are overwhelmed by where they are, and take a good amount of time to “learn the ropes”. Not with this kid He has the body, and is already mixing it with the mids. He knows what to do to get the ball, and most importantly knows what he is going to do with it, and where it is going, before he gets possession. He has similar vision to Oliver. He may not be given a shot early on, but it won’t be long until he is mixing it with the best.

  29. I am all for todays generation showing character and a bit of flair.. as long as they absolutely back it up through their on field field performance and actions, then I'm 100% all for it. They also just need to be fully prepared for the backlash and criticism that comes their way if they don't though, because it can be a pretty ruthless business if they're copping all over social media etc. The support and care has to be there for them from senior leaders and coaches. He's young, immature, and still finding his way in professional sport.. he'll be fine.

  31. I agree that genuine small forwards is an area we are lacking and they are really important in the modern game. If I was Tim Lamb and Co I'd be looking at GWS as a side for recruiting opportunities, as they have an absolute plethora of small forwards. Brent Daniels, Darcy Jones, Harvey Thomas, Phoenix Gothard, Oliver Hannaford and Toby McMullin are all essentially small to medium forwards on their list. Realistically we have Kozzy, Chandler, Kynan Brown and Charlie Spargo....

  33. I like him. But for whatever reason. He probably doesn’t get the same opportunity to be the man as others his age because of his position. He steps up when he gets his chance, normally kicks a goal or takes a mark, his 21 season still his best to date. I’d love to see him become a 1 goal a game 20 touch midfielder for us while we have Tracc & Oliver.

  35. He has only started back in the main group. Yes, he looks likely, but then so do the vast majority at training. It looks like he can kick and can read the play, but he is very slight, especially as a newbie. Woewodin as contrast after 1 season looks like the Hulk next to him. I wouldn't expect to see him play this year as there are too many others of his type and position....AMW, Windsor, Sharp, Woey, Lawrie, Chandler, Salem, Tholstrup, Bowey, Spargo, Billings, Sestan, Kynan Brown...

  36. They do to an extent. Imagine is Clarry or Trac were free agents last year, may not be with us now. They had long term contracts and as a result a trade did not eventuate.

  40. Yeah, i reckon he'll almost certainly get taller. He's 191 cms atm, which is pretty bloody tall. Talls always grow a bit after being drafted. As an example, Bont, a player Langford has many similarities with, is now 194 cms. Admittedly he was younger than Langford when drafted, but like Langford Bont was 191 cms when drafted. By the by i got that info from this draft profile - makes for interesting reading, particularly in terms of the similarities to Langford's draft profile. 2013 Draft Profile: Marcus Bontempelli - Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central

  41. This is what Goodwin had to say about Langford a couple of weeks ago (apologies for the shoutie font size). I am a bit surprised for two reasons One he directly compares Harvey’s power and contest work to when Oliver and Petracca came in. Can you think of any higher praise for a new midfielder? Two. When have you ever heard Goodwin talk so highly of a recruit? Normally it’s is “yes he is meeting his markers but we are taking things slowly”. “We think he will have a bright future if he blah, blah, blah”. None of that here, just genuine excitement. Assuming he remains injury free I think you can mark him down for a round one debut “Harvey's come in and hasn't missed a beat,” coach Simon Goodwin said. “Some of the things he's done at training so far, you just go wow. “He reminds you of some of the power and contest areas that when Clayton first started and Christian, when they first came in
