Why do people want to trade any of our two picks for later picks? I'd rather take two top 10 picks in this draft than 3 in the top 20, pick 5 you normally hope one you like slips, this year one you like will def be there at 5, and more than likely the same for 9. I wouldn't be changing either picks at all.16 points

If we’re not taking the Viking at 5, we have to make out like we are. That way, if North want him, they can’t trade with Richmond, and have to take him at 2. This leaves us with an extra top 5 ranked player to pick from, probably another gun mid.14 points

This is exactly what St. Kilda did in 2014. They saw Tom Boyd get to the Bulldogs on a massive contract and eventually they started getting too cute and they ditched Trac for McCartin. I don't think we should be overthinking the pick. For mine JVR and Disco/Petty/Jefferson/Fritsch is more than enough to build a functional forward line for the future. Our midfield stocks on the other hand are super thin outside of Windsor. Even if Trac and Clarry recapture their best form, they aren't spring chickens anymore and nor is Viney. I am a big Jason Taylor fan but I would be pretty annoyed if we took Armstrong at 5 and he would have to be as good or better than someone like Jye Amiss to make up for it. JT's strike rate with talls over the years has been pretty average too compared to his smalls.11 points

I have it on excellent authority that the club will soon announce the return of a recently-retired favourite son in a coaching / off-field capacity.7 points

I don’t get why some demonlanders are so hard on JVR. He’s played 41 games and his goals kicked at this stage (41 games) is more than Josh Kennedy, Nick Riewoldt, Jack Riewoldt, Tom Hawkins, and Tom Lynch who have about 20 All Australians between them. All except Tom Hawkins really hit their straps around the 50 game mark (Tom Hawkins around 100 games). I think he’ll be a 50 goal forward in 2025, especially if we get it in quickly to create more 1 on 1s.7 points

Go with JVR and Jeffo. The midfield needs the injection of two quality youngsters. Midfield lost Brayshaw, faces potential instability with Trac and Clarry and JV7 can only battle on for so long. Need two quality young midfielders.6 points

I am visiting Palm Cove on sunday for the day and recall the last time i was there was on day two of the Jacko draft. While my wife was shopping, I was outside counting down to our pick at 30 as I recall. I liked Rivers, as I had posted on DL, solely because of his video highlights and the comments of guys who knew about him. As we got to his pick and he was still there, I hoped JT would take him. When I heard his name announced, I yelled out and my wife ran out of a shop and asked if I was ok and I told her we got Rivers and she just stared at me. I am hoping this is an omen, even though this time I am not there on draft day, that we get great players in the draft this year. Sorry if the story was boring.5 points

(It's their home game, right?) Anyway, good to see Colvin back. Taylor the consequent last-in-first-out victim. Always awks after the fuss made on their debuts (K.Brown says hullo), particularly in Saraid's case with all her personality splashed over the Club's website before and after the game. Take lots of Grippo, girls, and I hope there are a few more Dees fans at the game than just the spinning ones on the boundary line. Sounds like Aaron Davey will get a few there, at least?4 points

No, still communicate with Nev occasionally, tried but failed to convince him though. And the comment about Gus is what a couple of Club people have told me.....unless of course he would use it to help.....his speech at the B&F was raw4 points

There has never been more pressure on a club for the number 1 pick in a draft. While i know some of them have not been the players the clubs would hope, i don't remember a year where there are potentially up to 9 genuine options for that selection and Richmond get the fun role of doing what noone in the media has been able to do and it's picking 1 out as the best of the bunch. one argument which is the Jagga smith arguement, is that you get as close to a safe/sure thing with that pick, the opposite end is you go highest upside which is probably someone like Tauru or Lalor. My gut feel is they'll go in between and take FOS but i am very very happy to not have to make the call. we're in a nice position of getting the best prospect that slips through and the decision is effectively made for us. the top 6-7 i think will ultimately all be really good players, i don't really see any of them being busts.4 points

Option C which has been posted is to trade up 5 to get access to the very top end. 9 to GWS for 15 and 16 5 and 16 to North for 2 (better than Richmond are likely to offer) 2 and 15 in the draft.4 points

Wow, comedy central, it will be Jones, Brayshaw finds it too mentally challenging to be involved with the club. I tried Nev, still has a year to go at the Pies, intend trying again next year.4 points

It's time to forgive and forget people. Just not so sure it was a great idea to include big Phil as head of recruiting at JT's expense but anyway, welcome home Tom Scully.4 points

I'm seeing Harry Armstrong is more the Naughton/Caddy type who can move around. I don't see the similarity with Jeremy Cameron at all apart from the fact they are left footers. I'd be pretty miffed if we took him at pick 5 or 9 to be honest.4 points

There is an upside to Spargo only playing one game. It gave Picket Fence one less thing to whine about in his weekly "Selectors have got no idea" post.4 points

Any chance of Draper slipping through to our pick? A fit Trac, reborn Clarry and Draper would be a dream midfield4 points

Gee wiz I'll be sitting there at approx. 3:08am on night 2 of the draft in excitement now (unfortunately I'm being serious)4 points

Yeah another we have spoken to as well. Unfortunately I think he gets taken way before our 3rd pick. One player I know for a fact that we have strong interest in and should be available at this pick is Tye Hourigan from Traralgon. Genuine country footy star who's very similar to Tom Stewart.4 points

How does one qualify as a slider or a reach?? When you marry it up against Bigfooty phantom drafters???3 points

Correct. Fritsch is essentially a key forward. Using a 1st round pick in 3 out of 4 drafts to select a key forward is ludicrous, especially when our midfield stocks are depleted. The only logic would be if Jefferson has been written off as a bust, and even then I wouldn't do it.3 points
