  1. Big talk aggressive key forward who was certainly unlucky not to get picked up last year. Vice like hands who isn't afraid to crash packs and has certainly shown that at WAFL senior level. Love this pick.

  2. Love Luka as a competitor hard as nails and would run through brick walls for you. Lateral movement and pace aren’t strengths, which I think may effect him at AFL level but he is only 18, could he be a Miochek, possibly in a few years. Seen him play against my oldest all the way through junior footy and they played cricket together as juniors super kid who comes from a good well grounded family

  4. With the Melbourne Football Club's first pick in the 2024 AFL Mid-Season Draft and pick number 11 overall the Demon's selected Western Australian key forward Luker Kentfield from Subiaco.

  5. I find those moaning about their dashed hopes of snapping up Chris Judd with pick 11 in the mid season draft, a midfield gun who, with zero AFL preseason will outperform players who’ve been on our list for several years,… frustrating and delusional. Luker looks like a classic MFC pick, in this our golden age of recruiting (all praise JT), in that while he has attributes that needed more development, he has the MFC signature qualities of aggression in contest, demonstrated willingness to work hard and earn his place in the big league. Welcome aboard young man! And congratulations. Go Demons.

Kevin Sheehan’s 2023 AFL Draft top prospects: WA Tall forwards and rucks STATE COMBINE Luker Kentfield State: Western Australia State League Club: Subiaco Community Club: Carine Date of Birth: 10/09/05 Height: 194cm A well-built and aggressive tall forward who progressed this year from the under 18s to play 10 matches at senior level for Subiaco. His physical presence and marking are both features of his play. Showed strength in the air and mobility as a target forward in three appearances for Western Australia at the National Championships. Kicked 22 goals across 20 matches this season at various levels in the talent pathway. His 8.42 seconds for the agility test at the state Draft Combine was a strong indicator of his mobility.

  7. AFL talent guru provides mid-season draft lowdown Luker Kentfield (Subiaco) “He was very close at the end of last year. He’s a 196cm key forward who can pinch-hit in the ruck. “He is super competitive, and we don’t say that very often about young men of that size. It’s just instinctive to him. “He’s another one that hasn’t had a lot of air time but one to keep an eye on. “I don’t have a club for him, but I think he will go.”

  8. and who plays as our #1 small defender who both locks down on the best oppo small forward AND provides rebound run; you know, how we generate our most scoring opportunities?

  13. This must be the only sport in the world where senior coaches get to have a whinge about a rule in the middle of the season and it gets changed by Tuesday. It’s a good change, but why does Damian Hardwick get to decide the rules of the game?

  14. Didn't see greasy arms though. Kolt and Filthy Luker can combine for our record breaking 2025,6,7,8,9 flags I would be very disappointed were he to go, after starring for us, to Sydney. But in all seriousness, welcome - but be warned that there are posters lurking here who will call you a spud, loser etc if you don't become a superstar within a couple of years.

  18. In the Alice today the forecast is 28 degrees and partly cloudy. Big drop of rain (up to 30mm) coming tommorow. So if it was ever going to he humid it would be today. The forecast is for only 35% humidity. By way of contrast, today's forecast for Melbourne is Max 21 degrees, and like in the Alice, rain is forecast for tommorow, albeit a lot less (up to 8mm). The forecast is for 46% humidity here. Our game on Sunday starts at 1pm. Perfect start time as it gets cold in the Alice once the sun starts going down. And I assumeit gets very dewy on sunny days like it will be on Sunday. Sunset is at 5:56 pm, so a good two and a bit hours after the game finishes. Absolutely perfect conditions for footy:

  20. Agree wholeheartedly. Purely bizarre. I am glad we're playing on Sunday as hopefully it's bedded in better by then after the umpires completely eradicate the notion of prior opportunity Thursday to Saturday

  22. Grant Thomas was the first football identity I can recall misusing "laconic" and it snowballed from there among the media, posters on footy forums and the wider population. Like Sam Newman, Thomas likes to use big words that he doesn't know the meaning of in an attempt to make himself sound more photosynthesis.

  24. From Copilot search (from 2023 football): Luker Kentfield is an exciting young talent in Australian Rules Football (AFL). Let me share some details about him: Height: Luker stands tall at 194 cm. Weight: He weighs 93 kg. Age: At just 19 years old, he’s already making waves. Club: Luker hails from the Carine Junior Football Club. League: He plays in the Northern Conference of the WAFL (West Australian Football League). Luker’s playing style combines versatility and strength. Here are some key points about him: Position: He’s a ruck-forward, which means he can dominate both in the air and around the goals. Experience: Despite flying under the radar, Luker has notable senior experience. He turned out for Subiaco’s League side in 10 games this year. He also earned a call-up to the state Under 18 side for three appearances. Strengths: Aerial Ability: Luker excels in marking contests. Contested Marking: He’s strong in one-on-one situations. Conversion: When opportunities arise, he’s a reliable goal kicker. Strength: His readymade frame allows him to hold his own against mature bodies. While Luker has performed well in the WAFL’s top flight, the transition to AFL level will pose new challenges. Taller and more athletic opponents await, but his potential is undeniable. In terms of stats, Luker averaged just six disposals, three marks, and less than a goal per game. However, his standout senior effort yielded four goals from eight touches and four marks. Keep an eye on Luker Kentfield – he’s a rising star with plenty of promise! 🌟 ^(Source: WAFL)^(Source: Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central)

  25. With due respect, really? Surely Brown is cooked. 'Break glass in case of emergency' at best. If he's not kicking goals we are playing one short. He can only play one position. Don't get me wrong. He's been a great player but no longer. As for Jefferson I'll be flabbergasted if he's selected based pretty much on one decent performance. It was a few short weeks ago that almost all and sundry were calling him a bust a la Lucas Cook. He is not ready. Whilst not ideal Turner at least provides versatility, gets to the contest and is mobile. 3 goals a few games ago was impressive. Down the track I'm in the Tomlinson camp to try forward. Having said all of this I reckon Petty will come up. 8 day break until the Pies then the bye. Love to see him recapture the Geelong form. Still think he's underdone.

  30. Welcome aboard Luker Kentfield a very welcome addition to our young Key Forward stocks ( JVR, Disco, Jefferson & Kentfield) same size as TMac , supposedly has natural aggression and good hands, what’s not to like. We can now focus on mids and a ruckman at the national draft.

  31. Or no one was good enough given the challenge to relocate a player (even from Preston), acclimatise them to professional standards, teach them our structures and have them perform well enough to demand game time within 12 weeks is - whilst not impossible -really difficult. We didn't use the pick to plug holes anywhere, we used it on the best available long term option. Maybe there's no midfield option better than Laurie, Tholstrup, Billings or Howes/AMW on the back flank and rolling a midfielder up. That's not unreasonable, they are all good VFL players. But I suspect reinforcements will come over the end of year list period. I doubt losing Gus for no replacement after the loss of JJ and Harmes hasn't impacted the midfield options.

  33. The midfield that’s needed Nibbler and Kossie to go on ball to provide some run and speed, has had to move Langdon to half forward to have run there and is suddenly relying on Hunter again doesn’t need reinforcements? I can see the case that no one really stood out, but we’d be silly if we don’t reinforce the midfield and mid/forward depth this offseason.

  36. It will be fascinating to see how Melks fares when he returns. He's been running and training for some time now so should have the tank (in theory). Question is does he come back with steely grit and determination or wanting for motivation. My guess with Jake is steely grit and determination, which would be an amazing addition for our last 6-10 games!
