  1. Misty feel about the morning. Backs first out with Petty and TMac interacting with them. Suggest Hunter the sub. Woey was doing plenty of plays. Setting themselves with slings along the boundary connecting the backs to mids. From the mid-stoppages to central corridor, the spread out the back. Kossie is in his own zone.

  2. Pies were umpired to a flag = Pies fans think umps should favour them forever. The sooking is hilarious. What a bunch of wankers.

  5. Re the free for not handing ball back, a caller to SEN post game said his son was at the game listening to the in stadium commentary and apparently it picked up the umpire telling Pendles earlier being warned that players weren’t handing the ball back quick enough (ie time wasting). Puts a different paint job on the “controversy”. See if the AFL come out and out Pies back in their box (cage). Could be deliberate tactic by Pies and they have been caught out. They should have other officials running the clock like basketball and make it black and white when the clock stops and starts (ie in the rules) and remove the need for field umpires to call time off and on. Such an antiquated system and so not necessary. Move with the times AFL.

  6. You know how you get a little kick on Demonland when there is a notification - that’s dopamine. It counteracts symptoms of anxiety and depression. In effect, the Pat-a-cake is a behavioural activator of the same thing, in a highly stressful activity. It’s evolved in the last 10 years, where it only used to be done after a ‘positive’ bit of play whereas now it is done irrespective of play and acknowledges the effort irrespective of the outcome or error made by an individual. It is good for the receivers 🧠 to more quickly get back on task - at least that’s how I explain it.

  8. Oh if only you had been around when I was going to training and was 17 and too shy to talk to the players. I spent hours not talking to Sean Wight whilst sitting on the picket fence at the G with him after he did his knee (wish I'd talked to him, he always waved to me if he saw me thereafter, think he remains my favourite ever player, even more than Robbie). Then we moved to the Junction Oval from the G and that was the pits. Russell Richards and the Febey twins would give me a lift up to the city since they were driving to Seymour and the walk back to St Kilda station was unpleasant. These days I've got the guts go to talk to people, cos they are people, but I'm also old and married. And in another country, which makes going to training difficult.

  9. ridiculous assessment for starters, he's got one thing as a coach that lyon and hinkley don't have goodwin has thrown multiple different ideas at the wall to modify our forward structure - i presume you give him zero credit for doing so, seeing as you don't think he's changed things many times throughout his coaching tenure not to misquote @binman but it's #demonlandmyths that he's doesn't have any 'coaching nuance'

  19. Loving the anguish over a free paid against Cwood because they didn’t return the ball correctly. Seen it paid against us plenty - most recently when it was returned to the wrong player - and no commentator gave a hoot.

  25. Another stellar night in the commentary box by BT. 1) called a Fremantle player “Franklin” 2) Called Nick Daicos “Josh Daicos” 3) made numerous other mistakes. He so often calls a player by the wrong name, can’t keep up with the flow of play and gets in the habit of saying “I think might have been player x who kicked the ball” It’s not good enough by channel 7’s premier caller and it’s not good enough by channel 7.

  29. 2 observations from Scott's "press conference" (only watched the first half; couldn't bear or hear any more) 1/ what a miserable sod he is, "we played badly" not "GW$ played well" etc etc. Same every week. 2/ what a tight a*sed organisation is the AFL. Any decent professionally run organisation would shell out a few bucks for a couple of roaming microphones and only allow questions through these microphones. Instead we may hear a bit of a mumble from the background and the answer refers to something that we haven't heard. It has annoyed me for decades. First I thought it may be the MFC being tight but it seems to be throughout the competition. (Same applies to the score review amateur hour technology - shameful stuff Dill)

  35. Playing at the G in front of big crowds every week, learning from some of the best players in the competition, playing for the club his dad played for where he’s formed long standing relationships with Goodwin and the players, playing for a foundation club that’s right in the mix as one of the better sides in the competition… should I go on?

  39. Hunter is a much stronger defensive runner, and has a very astute footy IQ. In modern game, turnover is crucial — Hunter is one the best exponents we have in terms of helping create turnover by being in the right places and putting pressure on in a more implied way, as well as being physical around the contest, he does lots of deft touches, ground-handballs etc that help us in transitioning the ball effectively which is crucial in punishing turnover. He also has a good i50 brain with angles and finishes better than Billings as well. Proven AFL level exponent where his impact can’t always be measured, as even pressure acts don’t quite showcase his importance in this area and in his defensive running patterns that are extremely effective.

  40. For those that are surprised Howes got dropped, I reckon it was mainly due to the lack of chase on Harley Reid as he ran into an open goal. He simply jogged and gave up rather than at least attempt to run Reid down. Standards need to be reset in this under performing club at the moment.

  42. Umpire #15 and umpire #22 (was not umpiring the Feral / Freo game) in my opinion are the two stand outs for incompetence. I get the impression from previous posters that umpire 22 does Melbourne no favours but I reckon #15 might just pip him at the post. He has a history of making controversial decisions late in games. Poor umpiring decisions have certainly impacted a few games this year. (but if it cost the Ferals a victory tonight, can it be all that bad?)😉

  43. When the weather is awful in the UK? It was one game, Langdon wouldn't have made a difference to whether we won or lost. Ed has played 17, 24, 23, 25 games since coming to the Dees. He is possibly the most no-fuss player on the list. Turns up almost every week, runs his butt off, then you never hear about him off-field. Yes he is paid well to play AFL footy but it was one game. His sister shouldn't have to work her life around him.

  48. It just so happens I spoke to uncle Colin about this. He thinks we need to get back to our tried and trusted contested game plan, tell max to tap it our players rather than theirs and work on mid forward connection. sound advice I reckon
