I was pleasantly surprised with Lachie Hunter this year, thought he held his wing up well, he gets his share of the ball and usually uses it well, also has impressive stamina and slightly edged Ed Landon in the wingers club this year. Hope he can give us a full year again in ‘24 although he will have a couple of youngsters snapping at his heels next year.5 points

He should be looking forward to further improvement and consolidating his place there in 2024.4 points

As mentioned, Kade had a great first half in ‘23, hopefully another preseason and having a couple more fit players in the forward 50 he can stay in the game for longer in 2024, really like what Chandler brings to the team.4 points

I like Hunter. I thought he was harshly judged this year. His endurance is elite and his kicking is nowhere near as bad as some people on here make it out to be. I'm still an Ed Langdon fan but Hunter was the better wingman this season.4 points
-
At his best he is a real weapon, endurance running and deadly accuracy. But as with all "high half forwards" an extended drop of form can make them a liability. I expect Chin and Spargo to be competing with McAdam, Billings and even Tholstrup for those spots this year. I think the competition will be healthy.3 points
-
Big fan of the Chin. His goal kicking accuracy is pretty good, hard at the ball, and has a good leap and very strong over head marker for his size, this is a really underrated skill of his. Could make a formidible partnership with likes of Kozzy, McAdam in '24.3 points
-
I’m a fan of Chin. First half of the year he displayed his value with a very good level of defensive play and kicking goals. He was always busy in and around the play. He seemed to tire with a full season at AFL level. Hopefully with more AFL experience he will run out a full season.3 points

HP is a great quandary to have, he has shown that he is an excellent backman and now also has the makings of a VG forward. We are all hoping that Harrison can get out on the park more Consistently in ‘24 and help hold the forward line together for us. Good luck HP.2 points

Yes agree with all above we need Charlie back to his best in 2024, tackling, putting on pressure and hitting up targets in the forward 50 and consistently nailing those snags from within 40.2 points

Quiet season for Spargo. Hoping he gets back to his best in 24. Actually Kozzie and Anb had quiet ones as well. Chandler started in a fanfare and disappeared. Kozzie still scored goals but didn't seem to impact games like last year. But back to Spargo, I will say he always finds a teammate with his pin point disposals.2 points

Gotta say, Pat Cummins is an outstanding cricketer, captain and sporting ambassador !!!2 points

It's all over (that was quick) Pakistan could have won this test if they'd held their catches. When they had us 4-16 in our 2nd innings they had to capitilise Bit of an enigma of a team. Plenty of talent but they don't know how to win The Aussies played well when we needed too. By contrast, we know how to win And I agree, @Hopeful Demon , Cummins steps up time and time again when we need him too A big occasion player A different bowler to the great DK Lillee but the same mindset. This is the first time my member pack has not arrived before Christmas. I am on auto renewal and paid up back in October. Anyone else still waiting?2 points

He easily has the most upside potential of any of our forwards not only because as everyone says he needs to bulk up and is obviously doing so, but his height, telescopic arms and soft hands marking the ball like fritsch impress me most.2 points

Coincidentally, I googled Demon Podcasts and listened to this yesterday before seeing this post. Never knew it existed. Nathan was excellent and the hosts were fine. Even gave Demonland a plug. I'll tune in again.2 points

You couldn't watch games from the existing stands, unless the oval was built at the northern edge of the midfield and even then there would be viewing difficulties, with one reason being the huge screen in the way and it would be too far away from the game However, you could build a grandstand outside the track, if one oval was near enough. You also build a longer, lower grandstand, that would not impede the view from the existing stands, of the back of the race track. Another factor against the current stands, is the cost of opening and securing them them on footy days. It would be prohibitive. There would be no problem with food and drink catering at the other end of the midfield car park and there would probably be a permanent cafe in addition, near or in the new facilities. Architects will sort out all these issues, in a state of the art development. We have waited a long time, but with the opportunities available within this site, it will be worth the wait. We are really talking about a magnificent opportunity to have the best facilities in the AFL and be the envy of every other AFL club. It will also help to some degree with luring players from other clubs, if they are weighing up competing options. As the original Big Kev and also the one on DL would say, " Get Excited".2 points

That is long gone…..Now repurposed as Thomas Embling hospital. Houses those in the criminal justice system with psychiatric- mental problems….probably more appropriate for Collingwood.2 points

Couldn't the patrons watch the AFLW games held within the racecourse from the existing grandstands? Seems like a no-brainer Also, for those wanting access to bars and eateries, well Caulfield racecourse has all that and more and if we bring the numbers, they'd no doubt open things up on non race days. There's your socialising taken care of by default And the talk is for our buildings to house gyms, swimming pools and indoor training facility/another grandstand to be built on the back straight So there may well be 2 vantage points to view practice/games. With 1000's of free seating We'd be moving into a structure that already exists whilst adding what we need It's like we just stumbled upon exactly what we're looking for and need and it may not exceed our budget and we still may get government funding anyway2 points

A hard watch for those that remember. Except that I never have felt prouder of my football club that day. My God, didn't we all want to give Trisha a hug.2 points

ive heard the same too, was told that he was running at about 60% fitness last year coming into finals when we needed him desperately.... no wonder he didnt do much at all. He ran a pb for his time trial which is exceptional considering hes at the end of his career2 points

Troy was helping raise Trisha to safety and sadly got swept away in doing so. He literally gave his life to save hers. Hero.2 points

Harrison will play a vital role in premiership calculations. If fully fit he has so much to offer as a forward - strong marking, leading, kicking set shots, yet also a serious option as a (Premiership) defender if needed.1 point

Just a ‘solid’ year for mine …… on a par with Lingers. I guess I had the bar set a little bit higher.1 point

I think he's cooked, but will give him the benefit of the doubt one more time as long as he has an uninterrupted pre-season. Very much a continuity and fitness reliant player.1 point

I like all format so no bashing from me. Dee fans at the cricket!? Can't go wrong! ❤️💙😁 Enjoy!1 point

He will make a fortune! Will be in high demand for a few years yet! I think he will do really well once he retires from test cricket and can concentrate on being explosive and destructive batter that he enjoys being. Would be some effort if he made the '27 CWC!1 point

Interesting choice of best. It accounts for quite a bit In the backline Salem returned on a blaze of glory and then quickly faded away. Tommo was short changed in terms of selection ......big time. Oliver, Langdon and Hunter all had very much less than stellar seasons. No arguments about that. Then we have Petty and Fritta' struggling big time with significant foot injuries. Anb was down on form as was Kozzie.so in the scheme of things it really was an incredible effort that we did so well.1 point

leave your paddock field behind, the horse track calls for you ♪ forget the far flung fields, they will not follow you the black and whites who recently were crowned will soon be training on your cricket ground ♫ strike another match, go start anew coz it's all over now, red and blue1 point

a fit tom mcdonald makes a huge difference to our side - he's a bit of a barometer in that when he's playing well (2018, 2021, first ten games in 2022) the whole side is performing i unfortunately don't have much confidence in him getting thru a full season at his age hope i'm wrong1 point

I saw Tom up north in October. Looked fighting fit and he felt confident that he was going to get through the bulk of next season injury free 🤞🙏1 point

Think he will be ok and as Lil Red FE said he probably needs this pre season and another to show his best. With BBB apparently fit and JVR, Fritta, FullRton, Petty coming back and Mc Adam it will be pretty crowded, not forgetting the forgotten Scache. We will know if he can make it, probably during the 25 season. I am confident he can. He has nice hands and a lovely kick for goal. Development, experience at Casey and some confidence will give him his chance.1 point
-
I don’t think many first year players are flying at the end of their first season. Let’s hope he has a huge pre season and sees the year out better in 24. You’d hope he’d be in selection talks by 2nd half of season.1 point
-
He is a lanky kid who needs 23/24 and 24/25 preseasons to build size and endurance before he can be assessed. So far though he has shown signs of taking one grab marks at the highest point and making the most of opportunities. Not easy to kick bags in a 2023 VFL forward line which had him at different times competing with Brown, Schache, TMac, Grundy. A 2024 at Casey as more of a focal point where he kicks some bags but is inconsistent in output and likely tapers as the season finishes is what I would expect.1 point
-
Two different type of players Jefferson and Roo. I still think Jefferson will play a similar game to Fritch rather than a tall bash and crash forward.1 point
-
Not sure I agree completely. I'm expecting him to be in the mix post bye 2024 His 2023 season showed real glimpses. Far more than I can recall from Weid at a similar time of his development. With TMac down back and Brown as the main decoy forward he should get a good try out at Casey1 point

Matt Jefferson will be 20 at the start of the ‘24 season and as pointed out by DLand he needs additional kg’s of muscle like JVR and as WCW pointed out if they can straighten out his posture he might be 198cm. Good mark and accurate kick, would be a welcome addition to our forward line when he starts to hit his straps. Harrison Petty, Jacob van Rooyen, Matty Jefferson, Bailey Fritsch and Tom Fullarton and maybe a fit BBB. Would make us a very dangerous side indeed. Let’s see what you have got Matty.1 point
