  1. Last time I saw this much stress on DL was when the Dogs were up by 19 in the GF 😎.

  4. Relaaax! We're all lucky they even have RAT tests available now. I just went and bought some, but I had to go all the way to the ATM machine first to get some cash money out. Would you believe I forgot my PIN number while I was there and then on the way home a police officer pulled me over so he could run my VIN number as well. At least now I'm home I can watch the grand final replay on my nice new LCD display.

  6. On another matter the Swans V Lions game this weekend should not be the 4:40 Sunday slot. It's the game of the week and should be on prime time.

  7. There were errors on both sides . . . neither covered themselves in glory. However . . . I do care about the MFC and Shane. Regardless, he is MFC family. One of us. And for anyone that's been fortunate to meet him, he's a true Dee and a top bloke to boot.

  8. But what about the piping? Will they adopt a Donnelly nut-spacing and crack system rim-riding grip configuration using a field of half-C sprats and brass-fitted nickel slits with bracketed caps and splay-flexed brace columns vent dampers to dampening hatch depths of of one-half meter from the damper crown to the spurve plinths? By like bolstering twelve husked nuts to each girdle-jerry, while flex tandems press a task apparatus of ten vertically composited patch-hamplers and flam-fastened pan traps are pinned at both maiden apexes of the jimjoist?

  10. One out in each line so each part of the ground should continue to function as normal. No surprises for each other which is good re our system and positioning. Smith and Dunstan stay in and Toby gets a run, at last! Dees by 25 points.

  15. How does the 16th placed team that has only won 1 game out of 6 get rewarded with 3 Friday night games. I thought the rolling fixture was supposed to fix this. Absolute joke.

  16. This year we have had up to 2 players missing ( except rd1 with more ). That is also good players. Now it is 4 and this may have a telling effect. In a sense it is good some other players are getting a run but we don't want to drop one against the hawks.

  17. A good opportunity for Smith and Dunstan (and now Bedford) to get another taste of the system and the way we play that they otherwise might not have had. They will need that knowledge if COVID or injury strikes. Also gives either TMac or Weid some valuable Ruck exposure in game time.

  22. There are some who suggest that Covid is no worse than a common cold. Like flus and other viral infections, there are differing degrees of severity and recovery. Most people avoid hospital. Footballers are fit strong young people and should avoid the worst of it. But the experience of many is that the after effects of Covid can last for weeks and sometimes months. A little like a severe flu or glandular fever. And we now have the medical diagnosis of “long Covid”. Although most can go about their daily lives without any trouble, on-going fatigue and aches and pains is extremely common. Footballers are supremely fit but like all top line athletes are always prone to infection (and injury). They push their bodies which compromises their resistance to infection. So the concern with Covid infection is the longer term impact on the body and its ability to cope with heavy physical demands. And most GPs will tell you that RATs tests are pretty useless. They will come back with a negative result but often test positive on PCR. The only reliable test is the PCR. For players who test positive it is important that they not be rushed back and are managed with the full season and finals in mind.

  23. I think the changes are pretty simple Out: Kosi In: Bedford - like for like Out: Smith In: Lever - 100% improvement Out: Sparrow In: Viney - and Dunstan stays in, so we are covered for clearances Out: Jackson In: Nobody. Bedford is elevated from the sub position and we get Weideman and Brown to share the extra ruck duties. Gawn has played as sole ruckman for years. Weideman can pinch hit and Brown can take the forward ruck contests. We are lucky that Hawks are playing a kid in the ruck, and that it will be very very wet. A great chance for Bedford to show he can really make his mark, and we won't miss Jackson as much. Dunstan had a good game and will get another run. I think he will do well in the wet weather. If Viney doesn't come up, I would bring in Melksham as he can run through the middle as well to relief the other rucks and we can rotate ANB and Trac at half forward as well. The other smokey would be Baker, and we can push JJ into the middle and get Baker to run the wing. But I rather not mess with the wings, as JJ has really settled into the role so I think this would be my least preferred option. No point bringing in Tmac or Majak when it's going to be wet and they will struggle. It will just wreck their confidence and won't do anything to help us win. Hawks are fast. We need the speed to keep up with them, not more tall timber.

  24. Exactly. Stop worrying about who plays when. We are getting prime time slots and these are some of the best games of the H&A season. You can all sleep when you’re dead.

  25. 3 of the 4 ins were best 22 players two weeks ago. It’s a very strong side still, we’ll be fine. Fingers crossed the boys with COVID recover quickly, and no more unpleasant surprises.

  34. With all due respect to the majority of our side, I really hope the additional two players aren't any of Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, Fritta or May.

  35. McGuane sounds like 'captain obvious'. As if opps don't know those tactics. Impossible to employ all of them in the one game. All those tactics have been tried at some stage, none have succeeded for 4 quarters.

  36. Is it weird I'm actually excited to see how our 'depth' rise to the occasion? Obviously we want our best 22 in every game but I'm happy to persist with Weed and Dunstan for a bit longer and keen to see some fresh faces like Laurie, Bedford, Rosman or Chandler get a guernsey. All this consistent winning football with a similar healthy 22 each week is just foreign to me and it's taking time to get used to it....

  37. This is what Pert had to say on SEN Demons chief executive Gary Pert said the club had planned for the event of a Covid outbreak but admitted it was still a waiting game to see if any more players tested positive. “We had scenario planned before the season started, we knew at some stage these things would happen,” Pert said on SEN. “It’s been handled very calmly … I think we are still looking very strong for the weekend. “We will still have to wait and see. It’s one of those things, each day the players are testing and you just have your fingers crossed. “So we’ll wait and see if anything else happens today, they are not training. “It’s a day to day thing, we knew that this would happen at some stage during the year and you be prepared for it.” Pert hoped the short-term pain now could prevent any more issues deeper into the season. “Most of the players in the pre-season and the early parts of the season have already had Covid,” Pert said. “The players now that have got it are some of the last players and we were very aware that Goody and some of the coaches hadn’t had it. “So in some ways, while it’s a bit uncomfortable this week, maybe it’s a good thing as we get further into the season that more of the players and coaches are now going through this now.” Pert said the club had put in place “strict rules” above the league and government protocols since the pre-season to help limit potential spread. “We have been very strict the whole pre-season up until this stage, which is why we have still had quite a few of our players not get it until this point,” Pert said. ”Anyone that has symptoms is either at home or not even part of the meetings or interactions with others and that goes for players or staff members. “We don’t have any non-essential staff within the football program during the week or on game day. “We have put in place pretty strict rules, way over the top of what the state government or the AFL have put in place and this has really been our first little bit of an outbreak.”

  38. Max (early in this interview) confirms that Bedford does indeed live with Jacko and Kozzy and has so far been one of the only players to dodge COVID and is still COVID free and has moved out temporarily from the shared house. Max also confirmed that players do RAT tests at home before they leave for training.

  40. While we're here at this umpiring venting forum about stuff that isn't the very very contentious 50 for dissent rule, when I was a young French girl growing up watching the football in South Australia a player in front of the mark who shaped a handball was deemed to have played on. Why shouldn't that be introduced alongside the 'stand' rule, instead of these silly 50s paid for con-jobs and a wee step off the line?

  41. Woey was a great of the MFC. I would say it's one of the few things Daniher got wrong. That was culture killing. The board paid him too much which wasn't Danihers fault. Let every Melbourne supporter hope Taj can play anything like his old man.

  42. TifTuf is a type of hybrid Bermuda (couch), that is harder wearing and requires less watering than standard couch. Kikuyu is probably the most aggressive growing grass type there is (good for self repairing from wear). These 2 are recommended as having a soil base (generally a sandy loam), zoysias are recommended as having a pure sand base and fescues can establish in that type of subsoil as well. Just a bit of a hobby of mine, I’m by no means an expert on the matter.

  43. I never said you stated that you said Goodwin would have to be sacked....and it is not tenable that Yze will coach Melbourne in the senior role, unless Goodwin is sacked. It is very likely that Yze will be a senior coach... and not in the timeframe that lends itself to Goodwin exiting. He won't be senior coach at this football club...based on how the side is tracking. No one would begrudge him for applying for and ultimately attaining a senior role, actually all in the community would support it - it is not a reflection of or of not, being appreciated.
