  1. Unfortunately Tex needs a run in the SANFL Destroyed in the midfield. Gibbs, Sloane, Matt Crouch all well beaten. We need class players like Brayshaw and Oliver. Time for Don Pyke to go I think. Its now time to drop Tex and bring in the FOG at least he tries. Jacobs, Betts and Gibbs will #cryasonetonight. Go blues. Seriously a better team WITHOUT Tex It just would have been funny if Melbourne had back to back chokes. This rabble of a club melb is closer to a flag than us. Let that sink in. Season was done 6 weeks ago but still dissapointing to put a half arsed effort in against a [censored] side like Melbourne. We are nowhere near it at the moment and Melbourne play the kind of footy that we hate. I would say the time is right to make Sloane captain but he is pathetic under a tag Gotta give it to the dees. They’re hard at it Melbourne have a premiership in them over the next 3 years. Hard to say but true. It's incredible how we can make one of the shittest players in the AFL (Melksham) look good. Walker is a dud captain That dribbler = Monfries 2.0 Thanks Steven Trigg. You have left an everlasting imprint on this club you campaigner.

  3. Given how we played early in the game and Adelaide's dominance, the importance of this game and in a hostile environment, I don't think it would be an overstatement to say that this was the gutsiest win from a Melbourne side that I can remember. Clayton Oliver is no longer a star. He announced himself tonight as a legitimate superstar. He almost single-handedly changed the game for us in the third quarter. His cleanness around the stoppages, his decision making and his ability to execute by hand was so exceptional that he elevated himself into the top 10 players in the game. Give him a 5 year extension this week, please. 14 clearances and 25 contested possessions are simply phenomenal stats. Jason Taylor, what a [censored] pick up! Take a bow. And well done, Lewis. Your leadership tonight was outstanding.

  4. Always funny to see how overboard fans go when they lose. Heaps of them are bagging Cheney, when I thought he was frustratingly difficult for us to get past and played a significant role in repelling our scoring opportunities. Would have been in the top 6 if I was voting in Crowland Player of the Year. Then there’s the “it’s all the leaders fault” posts. Funny how leadership is always shining in wins and disastrous in losses. It’s no different to here after a loss. People can’t see through their own disappointment, and look at the players through that lense. I reckon I could program a forum posting bot where I just feed it the footy scores, and it writes post that mimick the average mug’s posts, and nobody would be able to tell the difference.

  6. Alright. It’s @Wiseblood (only sees the good), @Clint Bizkit (ultra pessimist), @A F (sees good and bad but can’t see past his own bias once it creeps in), and @Petraccattack (goes flying off the handle in either direction over whatever happened in the last moment). Between these four autobots, I think I have the whole spectrum of footy supporters covered.

  7. There have been a number of comments here about the behaviour and character of the Adelaide supporters. I've been lucky enough to be able to go to every game we've played at the Adelaide Oval (including those against PA) and not once have I ever encountered poor behaviour or aggression from an opposition supporter. They support their team with passion as we do but at the end of the game yesterday when we were cheering and celebrating hard we had a number of Adelaide supporters come up to us and congratulate us and wish us well for the rest of the season. Kudos to them and that they stayed on the ground to honour Lewis's achievement was terrific. They had to stand in terrible conditions for quite a while after they had just been beaten in a match that probably ended their chances of finals. I know it's popular to bag them but frankly I don't know any better supporters in the game. Those that have had trouble are either very unlucky or most probably have brought it upon themselves. As for the game it was a terrific win for many reasons. Last week was shattering, this week be buttered up. We were challenged and prevailed in a very hostile environment. Some of our players might have had poor games but all of them had their moments. The weather was fierce in the last quarter. The wind was blowing strongly to Adelaide's end and it was raining very heavily for a lot of the last quarter. Having said that it's not possible for me to comment on the wind at ground level as I was sitting in the top of the stand on the eastern side. Just a recommendation to anyone who hasn't been to a game in Adelaide, get there if you can, it's the best ground in Australia and fortunately we seem to play it well.

  8. Well done Bernie on your 100th for the Red and Blue v Gold Coast next Sunday. He has been a wonderful player since arriving at the club in 2014 with Roos and Crossy. We should all be grateful that he threw his lot in with us and as Roos has pointed out a number of times, he has played a significant role in increasing the professionalism around the club. 2015 B&F and now should he have kids good enough to play in the big league, they'll have a choice between the Crows and the mighty Demons!

  9. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-07-29/oliver-among-dees-banning-the-booze Oliver is among the Dees to give up alcohol for the rest of the season: "I won't be drinking until the end of the season, just want to make sure if we're there in September that I'll be fresh and ready to go," Oliver said. Clearly Lewis is highly respected among the players. "I think he (Lewis) might have mentioned (that the Hawks went on a booze ban)," Oliver said..."When he says something, you do it. If he says don't do it, you don't do it..."It's pretty simple." I think we are developing a core of serious and committed players. And kudos to Oliver and co to have the maturity to listen to the Lewis voice of experience.

  10. Lets not forget that we were 20 points down in a hostile environment and STILL won. Well done boys.

  11. Agree with this. Undermanned (Viney, Lever, Hibberd), coming off last week’s gut-wrenching loss, against a desperate side in form at home and close to full strength (although Seedsman injury helped), 20 points down in first half, clawing our way back, having the balls to pull the trigger in the 3rd and then stack the defence in the last - in the wet - Sydney-style and guts out a win! A great test of the character and mental strength of this group of players, who are maturing before our eyes. Well done, Demons.

  13. You couldn’t see it via the TV broadcast but the Crows players and staff did line up opposite our players when Lewis was chaired off. I thought the same thing until I saw the below Instagram post.

  14. Frost- deserves more love Come on guys. Frosty isn't in many best 22 conversations, yet here he is getting the job done for us in our 22. Makes some mistakes, but overall has been a huge positive down back. His run and carry is a bonus given none of his direct opponents will ever catch him. He is actually pretty exciting to watch when he is up.

  15. Was at the game and noticed how well the team shut out the crowd noise. They seriously celebrated each goal as a team to keep themselves up in enemy territory. Great to watch the bond they have.

  16. Tonight was the first time for me. I left the house for a walk around the block when Tex was lining up after the Frost free. I couldn’t physically watch anymore. Told the crew at home to leave the outside light on if we win. The walk took 5 minutes and when I got back there was no light on. That was one sick joke they played on me. I’m only calming down now after watching the last 3 minutes. We should be extremely proud tonight Demonlanders.

  19. Hahahaha! I'm sure the neighbours think I beat up the missus each weekend. "Why? Why did I choose you? I could have chosen 17 others and I'm stuck with you. You can't even do the simple things right! No wonder I drink. All you do is break my heart and make me feel bad." Then after a win: "I love you. I really, really love you." On topic: I heard that in the after match wrap up and smiled. Not because I think it really matters unless they are getting shitfaced every weekend, but because it shows that the team wants to do the 1%'ers that will (hopefully) take them from a good team to a great team.

  20. First you must learn to pull an oar, only then can you take the helm. How about we make the 8 first, eh?

  21. Quite a few of us wanted Frost in from Port game and if selectors had agreed, we may have beaten Port and Saints. Yes he makes the odd mistake, but he is big, quick, hard at the man and ball and good defensively. His passing has improved and he is another good defensive option. He killed Tex last night. BTW it was a free as he dropped the ball.

  23. Or Max could have kicked the goal against Geelong after the siren in the first round. Or Geelong could have missed the goal after the siren last weekend. Lots of possibilities for and against us, and lot of umpiring BS also through the year. A bit of luck has to go our way sometimes!

  24. And I'll be an honourary Crows fan next week hoping they smack Port good and hard.

  25. It was not pretty, it was not easy, it was actually pretty damn ugly and we did not particularly play well for the majority of the game. But my friends, all of that means precisely bugger all right now. The only thing that matters was the result and we did it. The game was not on our terms early but we just kept grinding, when the Crows came back hard and the memory of last week fresh in their minds they held firm. An outsider looking in may not understand why this was such a great win. But to hang on like that will do wonders for the mindset. We will restore the belief that we can do great things in this game. The was NOT a flat track bullies game from MFC. Dees, you did us proud!

  26. I don't think we are weak in recent last quarters. Both Geelong and Adelaide have recently had 10 day breaks. Whereas we have had 7 day breaks after a Darwin game a few weeks ago. Huge effort to almost hold on last week Adelaide should have been much fresher than us and we had a few walking wounded tonight eg Hogan and Harmes. A mammoth effort for the team to hold on. Very proud of the lads.

  28. Well done to JKH tonight I've been one doubting his ability at AFL level. Was good tonight with decision making and pressure

  29. Good god. We have broken hands, split webbing and long walks late at night to avoid reality. It’s a tough life being a Melbourne supporter...

  30. I reckon that game could be big for JKH’s confidence. He didn’t star but he showed to others and himself that he still has the ability to perform at this level against quality opposltion. Good on him. Sometimes players just need a decent run at things to find their feet. Here’s hoping it’s a sign of things to come.

  32. Missed Saty... "I was chatting to [insert big name here] at training the other day, and what they told me proves you wrong." And Prodee: "You are wrong, and yes, I am very comfortable in my arrogance." Not to forget WYL "I've given this club $80 million dollars and they need to get harder! No more excuses! I blame Schwab!' Maybe those last 3 can be add on apps for the dedicated.

  33. My favourite from last night was the new advantage rule - Even though the crows played on they still decided to bring it back when it didn't work out.

  34. About a year ago I accepted that Alex Neal-Bullen will, amongst other things, never be our most skilled player, will fumble at times, will choose the wrong option every now & then; however, he won’t get outworked, he’ll surprise with the odd clever decision & freakish execution (even if it looks like a fluke), he’ll contribute by doing a lot of the hard things that lead to team success, and he has the propensity to be just damn effective. He frustrates me in flashes, but I wouldn’t take him out of this side in a hurry.

  35. The contribution of OMac and Frost is being underestimated IMO. Tex Walker and Jenkins had no influence. Love seeing Frost run and carry - seriously quick for his size. i thought Cheney was good for them.

  36. Don't forget the two occasions Adelaide took advantage and the umpire called them back as it was 'no advantage'. Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the rule changed that it's the player and not the umpires call?

  37. Also, James Harmes, with a broken hand, still had 23 touches and 8 tackles and still curbed Rory Sloane's influence for most of the night. He is really becoming a good, consistent player through the midfield for us.

  40. He was switched onto Gibbs in the last and really curtailed his influence. Gibbs had played loose at most of the stoppages for the night until the last. We finally manned him up with Harmes and he struggled. It was a great move, because Sloane played a more defensive role in Adelaide's midfield in the last. That suited us and allowed Harmes to drift onto the better user, in Gibbs. Made a couple of really good decisions with ball in hand tonight, did Harmes. I've been critical of him in the past and this is certainly an area of his game that has never been a strength, but he's showing some really nice maturity. Credit to him and the coaches. Harmes could become a real asset to our midfield once Viney returns, which will allow Jack to see ball, get ball, while Harmes plays the shutdown roles.

  45. I don't care what people say, I want Frost to stay in this team. He plays on pure instinct and he's got quite a bit of toe. Harmes, WOW !! The way he's played in the last two games just beggars belief. And we questioned his value and future. Last thing, we questioned the " no change" to the team for this game. Goodwin and the match committee knew precisely what they were doing. Who would have thought they would know better than us which players could get the job done ??

  46. Superstar champion beast Tom McDonald now has 40 goals on the season.. and he missed the first 5 games.

  47. The Frost one was nothing, and had it been a crows player...it would absolutely have been play on. Just shameful umpiring, as usual in Adelaide. The AFL needs to settle down on the rules fiddling and put their efforts into finding ways to improve interstate umpiring. It ruins the game.
