  1. Love listening to him talk about the Dees. He praises eagerly and is measured in criticisms. And, he is not shy to openly support players. In that article he talks of Tom Mc and Jesse. Numerous times, even when both were injured and most on here had doubts, he talked up Salem and Brayshaw, if played in position. (Both now are and we are seeing the benefits). I really like that every now and then he lets slip 'we' when talking about one of games. He genuinely wants to see us do well and is like a proud dad when players or the team perform.

  2. Roosy must have loved seeing us play on the weekend. If we're ever lucky enough to be standing on that podium on that one day in September and Barrass isn't available to present us with the cup my second choice would be him. Bloke turned the rabble around.

  3. We've been busy singing the praises rightfully of a few players lately but I think the form of Nate Jones my be missed by some. His 2017 form was nothing flash but he is certainly back at his best this year if not better. No one deserves success more than Nathan.

  6. I mentioned on the podcast last night that I had been remiss in mentioning Jonesy the past few weeks. I think it always goes without saying that he gives 120% every time he steps on the field. I love this bloke. Bleeds Red and Blue and my dream is to see him lift the cup up one day. Car washes for life if it comes to fruition.

  10. I tried hard to have a discussion with a Crows supporter from work yesterday about our upcoming match. He said to me that we have no one that good and Oliver Clayton is overrated. ??‍♂️

  13. He is the modern day Robbie Flower story, not just because of his jumper number, but because they both suffered through years and years of playing in a rubbish team but didn't walk, even though they both could have lined their pockets with wads of cash by going elsewhere I love Chunk. Nobody on the list deserves success in finals more than him. CLUB man. OUR club.

  15. An article today about Tom Lynch (Adelaide variety) described Melbourne as being 'cashed up' ie have salary cap space. This is really no surprise as: The salary cap went up by $2.0m per annum last year. That is a lot of extra bikkies to spread around. More than half our list would be well below the average AFL contract of about $350K because they are new to AFL football or had considerable time out for injuries. And a fair few would not be that much higher. The club would have earmarked the money for these guys when their contracts expire. Our 3 players over 30 will free up a fair amount of cap space in a year or two as will players we lose at the end of the year. So I can see that we can pay Tom and get an FA. I am very, very confidant the club has salary cap management well under control. I'm not sure why people worry about what $$ we pay Tom, Oscar or anyone else. The club will strike fair deals with players they want to keep and who want to stay. That includes Tom and Oscar and hopefully Gus, Nev and a few others out of contract this year...and a future FA.

  16. Agree. Is Lever the only bloke to change clubs? According to the media and maybe the Crows he obviously is. Jenkins, Gibbs, Seedsman, Jacobs, Betts, Gibson, Lynch, Cheney and the recently retired Scott Thompson say hello. Bloody hypocrites.

  19. Big test against a top eight side. Hate the crows and really hope we beat them and Lever stars cause that will [censored] off those inbred supporters and players even more. Go Dees

  20. Champion data is getting a bit creepy. I'm not sure how they've obtained a data set on a player's neurological mind-state. Unless Saty is somehow involved.

  22. We need to win 3 flags. One for Barassi. One for Neale. One for Roos. I've got no clue which order they should be in.

  28. The talk of this being the 'real test' is a bit over the top imo given the host of players Adelaide will be missing. Walker, Sloane, McGovern, Brad Crouch, Brodie Smith and Riley Knight are all out. That's arguably 4 of their top 6/7 most influential and important players. Matt Crouch is a test and no certainty yet and if he misses then it's another super important player missing for them. We're going into this game at full strength and we should account for them comfortably. That's the reality. It all depends on which Melbourne show up. It's all well and good for players like Melksham, ANB and Harmes to find form against lower opposition. The test now is for them to carry on playing at the level they are against tougher sides. I expect us to win and not fall over at this elementary hurdle.

  30. McDonald is a much rarer commodity than Gaff. While I would love both, you would invest more money and resources into a big KP player who can play forward, back and backup ruck, and kick bags, than an outside mid.

  32. Tom is in a fantastic negotiating position. Could not have worked out better for him. Playing where he wants to play up forward, playing great footy, playing with his brother, and now having team success after years battling his heart out down back in losing teams. On top of of it all he is set for a big pay rise.

  33. While we wouldn't want to lose Mahoney, it might be good for his career to work in a different role in the AFL world, be it at another club or in AFL House. Or even another sporting code. I mentioned in the earlier PJ thread that in my experience, to be really ready for a CEO role (in any type of organisation) the person needs a variety of experience in different parts of their industry and across disciplines (perhaps in the same or different industry). For mine, Mahoney does not yet have enough experience to move into a CEO role. I doubt missing out on our CEO role would be the catalyst for him to go. He doesn't seem the 'spit the dummy type'. But he may leave before too long to further his career. If/when he does, I would say: Great job, well done for the Demons and all the best for the future. Go with every Dees supporter's thanks and blessing.

  34. Agree a person from within: George De Crespigny, currently our Chief Commercial Officer and I reckon he was brought in to understudy Jackson - no info, just my guess. The AFL aren't going to let go its oversight of mfc to quickly and GDeC is an ex AFL person. Re Lethlean - doesn't pass the NDH test, altho Gil would be very keen to see his 'great mate' in a CEO job. Re Trigg - doubt he would leave SA again. He has just taken a role with Adelaide 36er's I really hope it is De Crespigny. He has been with PJ thru all the major asset, financial and sponsorship decisions. He is on the same page as the Board in club direction. He would have his own ideas on how to take the club further and could weave them into our strategy. For mine, it is not a time to 'rock the boat' with a new outside person who would want to make 'their mark' and start reinventing stuff. Given that the club has preached 'stability' on and off the filed since PJ and Roos arrived I would be very surprised if we went outside the club - with the proviso of no meddling from the AFL.

  36. There is no room for him now. 4 years ago, when we last chased him, he would have been a superb pick up for us. Roosy was very keen and he would've added some real class to our forward line. Now, we have no need for him in our side. With the players you mentioned above, plus Gawn resting there, 'Bull' Smith doing well and our plethora of medium forwards, there is no reason to chase him now.

  38. Indeed. The other irony is demonlanders deriding the intelligence of the supporters of other teams, like those of the 'filth' when dl provides ample evidence the dees have their fair share of supporters with cognitive challenges.

  40. TMac loves the Demons, the side that his brother plays for, the side that turned him into a champion, the side that allowed him to recuperate from injury for a very long time, the side that gave him focus and allows him to speak his mind publicly. It is also the side going places with him contributing to the max to achieve that end. Tom will get a very good offer. He has no love for other teams - he plays for the Dees. He will not be greedy; he is already a successful farmer, I believe. Tom ain't going to go anywhere on re-signing with HIS club. The sooner, the better for him and the Club. Win, Win situation of mutual interdependence.

  42. I have him at around 4.5 or thereabouts over 5...( Conditions apply etc ) Thats 900 a year. .. He may end up with more... bonuses etc. I think we need to rethink the bar...as it were. The new player collective together with accompanying Salary Cap provides for .. well...bigger money. Bit like houses etc...blink and the buying power of your money just decreased. Then there's market value for players. Other clubs will come hard. I fully believe Tom ( and Oscar ) have no vision of playing anywhere else...but they aren't nongs. They get one really good shot at a pay-dirt contract... this is Tom's. Everyone knows this.. everyone will adapt.
