  1. This would be great, I’d wear my MFC jumper into work with Gaff’s number on the back. They take things very personally over here, I’d probably lose my job.

  2. Sloane would be worth getting just for the Adelaide melts.

  3. On Garlett, he was 2nd in the league for tackles inside forward 50 in 2017. He is also our highest goal scorer since joining Melbourne FC 3 seasons ago. So, he's our highest goal scorer AND our best defensive forward. Leaving him out of the team is f*cking laughable. I know some of us are excited at what Frisch MIGHT become, but let's not overlook what Garlett IS, and that's the best forward on our list.

  5. Not sure we should be questioning Garlett’s work rate. He worked extremely hard last summer to have a better year than 2016. He was the number 1 ranked forward for pressure in the first half of the year and his defensive pressure was first class. The 42 goals were an absolute bonus last season. He had some quite moments later in the year but had to deal with some family issues. IMO we need his craft and he’s a certain starter if fully fit.

  6. Petracca Oliver Brayshaw Viney Imagine these 4 in full flight, being fed by Gawn. The next few years are our best chance in my lifetime to be feared again. Beasts.

  8. Look at that acceleration, not to mention the finish. If he doesn't become the best player in the comp and one of the greats of the modern era it should be considered a failure.

  9. Kero said on Footy Crapified last night that she asked Goodwin to his face and he denied flat out resignaton was offered. Fwiw she believed him. Non issue.

  10. So let me get all this straight. The poster in question (who was butting heads with SWYL earlier) - is actually a Richmond supporter/employee - an online saboteur who launched a ‘Hundred Flowers’ style campaign after a subversive coup d’état of a former Dees fan page - goes on another site claiming to be a supporter of a third club - has had multiple aliases after multiple bans from said sites This all sounds like the work of someone with way too much time on their hands. Or the Russians.

  14. Even the article says it was said flippantly in the heat of the moment and laughed off by PJ. Also says the club has moved on internally, the playing list is fit and coach is respected and liked. So where's the story?

  15. Here is a taste of what we will have this year. Petracca mid/fwd.

  16. He has a really good mix of the attributes you want in a player - he clearly works hard and puts in on the training track, and he has the swagger and confidence to go with it that screams 'I'm better than you, and if you give me a moment, I'll show you why'. I hope we go with Gawn, Oliver, Petracca and Jones in the guts on Sunday. We can smash those buggers into the turf from the moment the ball is bounced.

  17. Jesus mate..... Have you ever been on one of these camps? The main aim is to break you down and then rebuild you to a point where you usefull for a cause ie battle I have been on a few and all I got out of it was crook as a dog and praying for it to end. I am no tougher than I was It was a debarkle last year. 3 players reported in the first couple of games, not the leadership we wanted at that stage but were they tough? I don't care what the media says about us......We will get done this year and we will win some gutsy ones so even is the competition. When we do lose it will have nothing to do with a camp not held months ago.

  19. I usually go for the sponsored activations and then leave before the ball is bounced, best part of going to the footy.

  20. "Game day activation opportunities". What magnificent language. I wonder what they might be? Displaying cars at the MCG entrances? Providing a car as a prize (perhaps not a "whole car" per se but the opportunity for someone in the crowd to take it home for a week)? Hand-ball competitions into open windows? The mind boggles with the range of "activation opportunities".

  22. We were not able to crush teams in 2017 either. This has to change in 2018. Winning is one thing. Being ruthless and not letting up is where we have to take our game.

  23. Judd and Danger both have/had explosive breakaway pace mixed with an excellent top speed. Ablett is definitely very quick. He isn't as quick as them but there is no way you could say he is slow. He has good acceleration and good pace without being great. He doesn't need to be. He is stronger over the ball than most and uses his strength to his advantage. He has super quick reflexes and is 'clean' with his ball handling. He rarely fumbles. The stats sheet never tells the true story with Track as most of the time he does the right thing with his possessions and sometimes something special that others can't consistently do. Once his tank is bigger and he starts getting more of it he has the potential to become a star of the game (something we haven't had since Flower). Will it be this year? Possibly. Sit back and enjoy the show! Slow? You're dreaming pal.

Garlett is a regular 40 goal small forward with speed. He creates goals out of opportunities others can't. His speed and crumbing ability is a must have for me. I also think his ability to pressure and harass in the forward 50 is better than Bugg's. Given the choice of Bugg or Garlett I'm taking Garlett every day of the week. For me, Bugg is competing with a defensive forward like Neal-Bullen for a game. Or the likes of Melksham. They have him covered. I too like Hannan and Fritsch and won't be leaving either out for Bugg.

  27. What is deadly to our brand is NOT being prime time Free to Air. If we are to pickup undecided watchers of our game as supporters, we have to get the Prime-Time spots on the Free Telly. # Forget that bloody Fox, and pay TV, that doesn't help us grow the club, actually the more of us that switch to Fox, the LESS Likely it will be that we get and keep Prime time. And we won't really grow our supporter base as most who Pay for TV, are already welded on Members.

  28. Here's an Age article from 2015 talking of different AFL sponsorship deals. While figures may have changed there is no reason to think the relativities have changed. "Hawthorn last season booked $15 million of marketing income, which includes sponsorship deals. With the addition of Audi and the hopeful retention of BUPA, a 20-year sponsor of the club, that figure could top $16 million next year. Collingwood generates more than $19 million a year in marketing revenue. At Essendon the figure $17.7 million. In contrast, the Bulldogs booked just $7.5 million of "business development" income, which includes sponsorship. The Saints did even worse, earning just $5.5 million from sponsorship and events." https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/audi-deal-shows-how-some-clubs-enjoy-life-in-the-fast-lane-20150619-ghsmgd.html

  29. So right jnrmac The myopia of some posters worries me. It's not me complaining about the need for Foxtel or similar to watch games. MFC competes in a sports market for its very existence. Continual scheduling in low rating FTA spots if at all is deadly to our brand. Success alone will not breed more members. Look at North if you want a case study. We need to put our product in front f as many people as we can and then we need to deliver an exciting product. F1 is a technically exciting sport and cutting edge in TV coverage. It has suffered in recent years from the dominance of one team be it Mercedes and before that Red Bull. They now have new American owners that are committed to increasing the brand.

  30. Fairy Nuff, then. Understand the duality. Remember the 60s footy broadcasts on 3UZ on Saturdays? '...the Demons are 3pts behind in time-on in the last quarter. Alves passes to Bourke who handballs to himself and taps the ball forward, running onto the ball just 3 feet from the goalmouth with Collingwood players streaming in from at least 20 feet away and yes, Bourke is lining up the goal ...' 'THEY'RE RACING AT MOONEE VALLEY IN THE 6TH, WITH CHEWING GUM STICKING TO THE RAILS...'

  32. Outside the ranks of the Demon faithful, Jesse has become a bit of a forgotten man after initially bursting onto the scene with a fanfare. If he has anything to do with it, he won't be 'forgotten' for much longer. Headlines of a different sort this year for our Jesse!
