  1. Letting us take Lever is the least they can do for taking Scott Thompson off us all those years ago.

  6. Gotta love SEN. Four hours ago he's bound for Melbourne, then 30 minutes ago he's a certainty for Collingwood.

  7. I get what you are saying, but we don't travel outside of the G for the last 3 weeks of the season, so it's hard to complain, plus we have 8 days off after GWS and 7 days off the following 2 games. Personally I'm happy with the fixture for round 23. What I don't understand is why Round 23 is a floating fixture still, when we have the week off before finals anyway?

  9. My very being is telling me to stay away from the TV for this game but my heart is telling me to watch. My heart is pure evil and loves nothing more than creating pain for my wretched soul. I will be watching.

  11. They just said on SEN that Jake Lever officially met with Melbourne FC last week and that he was apparently unhappy with the first offer Adelaide offered him.. doesn't guarantee he is leaving or anything but still very interesting

  15. Nobody puts a gun to a person's head in regard to playing the pokies, but it can be just as addictive as any gambling pastime, probably more so. When families suffer because some addicted person is frittering away their money and the kids are in poverty, just saying it's all "free will" doesn't quite cut it. What's worse is that the programmed winnings are only 70-80% of the players' "investments". Sooner or later everyone loses their money. It amazes me that most pokie players don't realise this and they keep going. Pokies are the best example of the idea that "gambing is taxation for the innumerate". Owners and operators are not absolved of problems with addiction. You need to study the psychological ploys to keep people attracted, plus the pay-out mechanisms and machine programming that keep people hooked. IMHO, they're a blight on society and football, and the sooner they're gone the better. Not that with the dependence on their revenue by clubs that's ever likely to happen.

  16. Agreed. Lever's Manager meeting with the Dees would be one thing. Lever himself meeting with officials and players, in season, is enormous. He's gone.

  17. FWIW Sam McLure reporting on SEN that Lever himself has met with Melbourne officials and some Melbourne players. Also reports that he is happy to stay at Crows as he likes the life there, just unhappy with their offer Edit. Got in before me qwerty

  19. Coming of a 6 day break is no big deal imo as we the last 3 wt the G. I would rather have this than coming off 7 days after an interstate trip from Brisbane in this case.

  20. Last season we needed to beat both Carlton and Geelong to have a chance to make finals and we all know what happened there. I hope this season that we dont fold under the pressure again as we really need to win the last four games to guarantee a finals spot. These next four weeks will show if we have improved between the ears imo.

  26. A star key backman is the final piece of the puzzle for us. This would be huge. MFC 2017 1st round pick + MFC 2018 1st round pick for Jake Lever and Adelaides 2017 2nd rounder Id then like to see us trade back into the first round as I feel sorry for Jason Taylor who is being starved of 1st rounders to weave his magic with on draft day.

  27. I think this game will show wether we are going to fight and make the finals or meekly let the season slide into oblivion.

  28. Don't forget Gunston as well. They've lost a load of talent.

  29. I don't interpret it that way. Meeting with an opposing club's officials and players as leverage to get a better deal with your current club seems a bit extreme. You can do that by simply holding off signing until you're satisfied with an offer from your current club. Clearly he is considering a move if what's reported is true. And if it happens, i'll be in heaven.

  31. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/patrick-dangerfields-selfless-act-will-set-the-stand-for-geelong-teammates-says-cameron-ling-20170801-gxn9uy.html Makes me want to throw up. He's either an undisciplined player because he should have known better, or he's innocent because the rule is wrong. To be hailed as a hero for doing something that gets you rubbed out and then not having the conviction to challenge it when you are on the record as saying 'there was nothing in it' is the opposite of heroic. It's spineless. In case you are wondering - Ling has just anointed himself the biggest [censored] in the AFL.

  32. Cool in a KLF mumuland kind of way?

  33. So we're the only top 8 team given a 6 day break between rounds 22 and 23. What a [censored] surprise. 7 day break for Collingwood. Essendon given 8 days to recover between matches against Gold Coast and Fremantle. What a staggering coincidence. Only other teams to get 6 day breaks are Brisbane, North Melbourne, Hawthorn and Bulldogs, all playing against each other to keep it fair. Of the teams also vying for a spot: Sydney - 8 days West Coast - 8 days Essendon - 8 days You'd think a logical person would've scheduled West Coast v Adelaide on Saturday, considering they have an 8 day v 9 day break, rather than allowing 6 v 7 for a team on the cusp. Self inflicted, sure, but the AFL never do us any favours. Once again treated like pushovers by the AFL.

  34. All of our KPFs are at their best up the ground. Then have no one to kick it to because our KPF's are not at their best when they're not up the ground. Except of course our no 1. KPD, who is at his best as a KPF.

  37. Oscar really cops a lot of crap and I think it's unjustified. He's played 33 games and is 21 years old and people expect him to be dominating monsters week in week out. He's made pretty good strides and is generally pretty good by foot if you actually step back and to the side and look at the facts. If he fills out he is going to be an absolute monster size and strength wise. Key posts don't always materialise with a magic draft pick ... They need to be developed.

  42. All too regular a mindset here I am afraid. Been happening for years. X, Y, or Z is out - hooray!!! We will win easily. Those who go on with this seem to forget that X, Y and Z are replaced by M, N and O.....so it still ends up our 22 vs their 22, and our 22 need to be focussed and at it all day. Sad truth, it seems. 86 games so won't even qualify for f/s, if that were to eventuate

  43. Appreciate the concern, but I've been doing this for 16yrs or so. Heresay on a public forum isn't quite the all powerful thing some you of obviously think it is. But I'll keep my observations to myself from now on if it offends so much

  44. He couldn't have picked a worse week to appear, had it been 7 days ago the posters above would all be saying how impressive he was and how we're in good hands. BTW, I still believe that we are. He was definitely listening in Roosy's seminars on "How to say a lot without actually saying anything". PR was the master.

  47. We'll know we have really succeeded as a club, financially and culturally, when we can let go of that part of our revenue stream. Which brings the obvious question, what excuse do Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and The Family Club(TM) have?
