  1. A few thoughts on the game, and take this with a grain of salt because I am biased and have had a few. As for the overall game, Casy weren't bad, Coburgs game style and pressure just destroyed them for the first 3 quarters, but the extra fitness and hardness that AFL listed players bring allowed them to dominate the last quarter As for individual players: Weideman- kicked 3 goals 3, shoulda kicked 6 straight. Missed 3 relatively easy goals but did some amazing work in the aireal contest, and I mean took some unbelievably marks today, did some amazing running around the ground and I would not be surprised if he comes in to replace Hogan Maynard- He's form has been amazing, was easily best on ground and I'd expect him to get a senior debut this year. He is clean around the contest, hits it hard and has great speed. A great pickup from the MFC Brayshaw- wasn't as prolific as last week but is showing good signs he is coming back into his best, did make a few errors today but his gut running was outstanding Pederson- took some good marks and had a few great tackles but he butchered the ball a lot and if I were Melbourne selectors I'd choose Weideman over Pedo going off today's game Spencer- was great in the ruck today against a decent opponent, took some good marks and was good at ground level, fumbled a bit but might be an option if they want to tryout the Gawn/Spencer combo Keilty- continues to develope and build on his game, took 3 or 4 crucial contested grabs and attacked the ball at ground level well but also made a few mistakes under pressure, give Dec another pre season and he might just become a great key position player Other good players- Strech seemed to be big around the ball today and Wagner got onto a lot of loose balls and had a big impact. Dion Johnstone also had a huge second half, had a few great moments up forward and laid some big hits and tackles . Mitch King probably played the best game of his year, dominated the ruck and took some impressive marks The not so good- Good to see Hulett back in the VFL but was pretty quiet, I doubt he'll go on much further. Kennedy was also pretty disappointing today If I've missed anyone let me know and I'll try to answer your questions For the VFL listed players, Fristch was again outstanding today, missed a few easy goals but his hands for a shorter player are insane and do not be surprised to see him on an AFL list next year. Jack Hutchins was great as the general in defence today also, Ferreira had some nice moments Thays just my 2 cents

  2. I want North twice next year. 3 or 4 times if possible...... I want revenge, and i want it often. Irrational maybe, but i dont care. Revenge.

  3. We're already chalking up a win based on GWS's outs, days after a poor effort against a wooden spoon contender? No wonder the server crashes after a loss.

  4. We made it!! 42,102 With 102 over! That is a whopping 20% increase on 2015! Major, major accolades to the Club and the 3,000 extra that have jumped on board this year. I'm sure Jackson and co will be absolutely rapt!! Make finals and we should get off to a great start for next year.

  5. Whateley being laughably biased tonight on 360. Now bemoaning the "damaging" Carlton medical report, noting the similarity to the damaging Carlton medical reports that sunk Lewis and Hogan back in round 2. So where was your [censored] outrage back then, Whateley? Or is that only relevant now it's affected the media darling Dangerfield? You didn't have a care in the world about either Hogan or Lewis getting extended suspensions as a direct result of those harsh medical reports -- and ever since you've happily gone along with the media line that Melbourne are just unsociable. Embarrassing.

  7. FMD we're off to bloody Canberra - we seem to be doing a tour of every shitehole venue in Australia. Reckon we should play a couple of polar bears.

  11. We are a middle ranked defence. We are 9th in the league for points against. But we've found a couple of stats that allow us to say we are the worst. We're not. And guess what. The usual suspects are using a few stats that relate to the whole backline to isolate Oscar and to a lesser degree Frost to again state their views. No mention of Jetta, Hibberd, Hunt, Salem, Lewis (our backline general and on field coach), Vince or anyone else who has played there. The problem is Oscar folks, you heard it here first. No mention of a midfield that isn't applying pressure, no talk of zones, just a couple of stats to freshen up the weekly Oscar attack. And the stats don't even relate directly to Oscar! Go figure. I like Oscar, much criticised here by many and I'm as confident he'll turn into a quality tall defender as the detractors say he won't. I think he's pretty good now and will get better. And just as STMJ is confident that Jnrmac's criticism of Oscar will fall on deaf ears I'm confidnet my position won't change one view. My main interest in the Oscar debate now is how many more ways his detractors will find to lay the blame for our failures on him even if their evidence doesn't relate to him.

  12. Exactly, I look it at this way, if we didn't have the loses against Freo and the Hawks would we have had the mindset to beat Adelaide at AAMI and the Eagles at SUBI. That doesn't automatically we win every match, no doubt Saturday was another reality check. SEN just said then Hogan us a minimum 4 weeks. For mine he sits the rest of the year out. For the sake of team synergy if Pedo gets on a roll he stays in. We can't afford to bring back in a key position player into the finals and allow 3-4 (if we make it that far) in the hope he finds some form. And for whatever reasons our biggest victories over the last 3 years have all been without Hogan.

  13. Oliver had all the time in the world in the last qtr as he streamed forward only to be run down unaware from behind. On the replay he took about 8 running steps, quite a long time. I saw 3 Melbourne players within reasonable earshot. Harmes was about 10m away facing him. Why the fk didn't someone scream to him that he was 'hot'?

  14. Well, let's move on to this. I also think we are a sneaky show for this game. Out: Hogan, JKH, Trengove In: Jones, Pedersen, Vince

  18. I said to my son on Saturday when watching the game that this is one of those games where you park Tommy Mac at the scoring end all day. Not rocket science just common sense. Football in windy conditions is not a mystery, well it maybe to our coaches.

  19. Our zone needs to be adaptable so that a player like Frost can be permanently on an opponent like Ben Brown, how Jetta was left to cover him so many times is bewildering.

  21. I don't like that Hogan is injured but I prefer Pedersen at full forward because Hogan plays as more of a crumbing forward these days. Out: Hogan, Trengove, JKH (unlucky) In: Pedersen, Jones, Vince FB: Jetta Frost Hibberd HB: Hunt O.McDonald Salem C: Vince Oliver Lewis HF: Petracca T. McDonald Melksham FF: Garlett Pedersen Hannan Foll: Gawn Viney Jones Int: Tyson ANB Harmes Watts

  22. We're a fickle bunch. Was only a few weeks ago when Jordan milked the 30 shot clock from ANB against the Blues and we all thought the sun shone out his arse. Personally, I think he'll be playing at Casey at some stage next year as our youngsters blossom further - due in part to some of his guidance.

  23. It's a bitter pill to swallow, but North are very good at Blundstone arena, no matter who the opposition. Just take a look at their record at the ground. http://afltables.com/afl/venues/bellerive_oval.html I predict the Dees will bounce back and beat GWS, Saints, Lions but somehow lose to the Pies after resting on our laurels.

  24. We were out marked because North waited behind the pack with the wind and in front of the pack with it. Windy footy 101. The effort looked ok- the energy levels low . I'm not about to set myself on fire over this weeks loss. We got out scrapped in the last half and allowed them to run down the clock. Very ugly game-too many stoppages.

  25. Such a travesty that N Jones hasn't been recognised league-wide. Single handedly carried our team through the dark times and deserve all australian awards if we weren't so pathetic.

  27. If Geelong appeal Danger gets OFF! 100% The AFL will be telling Geelong to appeal and the AFL will be telling the MRP to down grade the suspension to a fine. It will happen... No red faces on Brownlow night! Rule change for Brownlow will be made for next season...

  28. I really wouldn't...

  29. I will hold off celebrating until the appeal has been heard. This smells of an AFL set up. Give him a week as to not look corrupt... then 'lose' the case on appeal.

  31. Would it have been too much for the coaches to do a couple of training sessions at Casey leading up to this game, given we were going to play in Hobart then Canberra in the middle of winter. Surely that ground would have given the team a more realistic conditions to see how the game plan might work at windy, cold and possibly wet grounds ! That last quarter was school boy football mistakes, not playing in front when defending into the wind and thinking kicking with the wind it would all just happen for them. So I blame the coaches for not preparing the team and the players for not doing some basics in those conditions.

  34. I give up trying to predict the road to the finals. Massive win against Port one week, epic failure against Norf the next. Seriously, if we beat GWS next week, there is no rational or logical thought process in the world that could predict a Demons result.

  35. Only needed ONE free kick in the right spot to make the difference between winning and losing this game, Not the first time this has happened this year. IT IS the Yellow Maggots fault. They know exactly what they are doing. KEEPING US OUT OF FINALS!!!!!!!
    3 points
  36. We need to win 3 of the last 4 games to make finals, as our percentage is one of the worst and can't be relied on to scrape in with 12 wins. We need 13 wins. If we don't make it, it means we couldn't beat 3 bottom 4/8 teams while there was a finals chance on the line. That to me would smack of being mentally weak and this year being deemed as a failure. To lose to so many bottom teams through out this season has been a disgrace. I know the team is young still, but it is one of the most talented teams in the league at present and has more than enough tools to at least make finals. Hopefully Goodwin and the coaching staff can get the players heads straight. When we play with endeavour and intensity, we have shown they can beat any team in the league. We should be able to account for Saints, Pies and Brisbane and make the 8. I'll be livid if we don't.

  39. Take a look how Adelaide lower their eyes when kicking into 50, compared to our bomb long bs. It has been a tactic of Goodwins as he admitted it pre game in Darwin. Goodwin needs to be smarter than this and should've learnt weeks ago as our delivery has been pitiful for a while. He also stuffed up by not leaving TMac down the wind end all game, having Jetta getting caught out v Brown was sad. Surely Goody can and will coach better going forward.

  40. I like Frost. I just wish we had an older player out there with him he is still raw

  41. As much as I feel for Hogan who is having his worst year personally and professionally I feel confident that we have a ready made replacement for him in Pedo. Pedo can also go into the ruck to help Max out therefore freeing up Tom and Jack. Id rather lose a Hogan than a Gawn, Viney or Jones. But in saying that Watts needs to lift. His past 2 weeks have been awful.

  43. It's hard to say, I don't confess to have any idea about what actually goes on inside an AFL club and I laugh at the fact that so many supporters think they know what is best, but from what I've seen and from other players who go in between the VFL/AFL system, he has an insane natural sporting ability, as shown by his time playing basketball in the United States, and I think he could absolute hold his own against the best

  44. I don't understand the relevance of the ball being clear. Dangerfield did what he did, and whether it should have been holding the man to Kreuzer is not the point. As others have said, it seems that there is one law for some selected few, and another for everyone else.

  45. Plenty to be disappointed about. The number of passengers in such an important game. Watts didn't give a yelp. Petracca had two kicks for the game. OMac's lack of intensity in the contest. Trengove's lack of speed off the mark. ANB unable to hit simple targets. Hannan could get near it (maybe injured). JKH running around like a headless chook. Midfield apart from Clarry and Tyson first half gave nothing and were dominated by likes of Swallow, Ziebell, Cunnington and Higgins.. The lack of a forward structure. The clangers from our best distributors (Lewis and HIbberd). Gawn's ineffectiveness in the ruck.

  46. Oscar really cops a lot of crap and I think it's unjustified. He's played 33 games and is 21 years old and people expect him to be dominating monsters week in week out. He's made pretty good strides and is generally pretty good by foot if you actually step back and to the side and look at the facts. If he fills out he is going to be an absolute monster size and strength wise. Key posts don't always materialise with a magic draft pick ... They need to be developed.

  48. Well, I had a crap day. The footy sucked. Blundstone Arena sucks. How good is it that there are seats where it's physically impossible for 7 year olds to see? And which quarter would you like to miss while you get food? Such a shit game day experience. Then Demonland crashed after the game. Brilliant!
