That game was horrific. Complete lack of skills from both teams. Richmond fans think they're a shoe-in for the flag. Their demise is gonna be so fun to watch!9 points

Stop taking yourself so seriously Saty. You need to have a bit of lightness of being. We all have opinions and enjoy a bit of fun, This site is about Demon fanatics indulging their love of the club, voicing their opinions and having a bit of fun. We love our club as much as you do. But your sarcasm is not warranted.8 points

#heartbeatstrue was fitting when we were rubbish and loyalty (or insanity) was the only reason to follow. #raisehell certainly fits with where we are and what we want represent. I love it.7 points

He has leukemia. Why you would even want to joke about it, or use it in the manner you have, is beyond me. Poor form.6 points

The way I read it is that Kent would be the natural replacement for Neal-Bullen, but as ANB put in a solid shift last week and Kent isn't 100% matchfit anyway, the MC have decided to give ANB another week to see if he can cement his spot. In the meantime, Kent can get some more miles in his legs and put his case forward for selection next week. It's a big week for ANB I reckon. This is his chance, if he doesn't take it, I reckon Kent will come in for him next week (depending on other forced changes).6 points

I like it. Fiercer is definitely the right word. #raisehell is evocative and powerful. I read #myheartbeatstrue as linked more to loyalty. That's not to say the club no longer values loyalty, but I think we want to become a fierce and feared football club. Don't all AFL clubs?6 points

How quick are we to forget... Kent was our best small forward last year, his pressure and kicking to an In50 target is up there with our best. He would be a welcome inclusion if he is close to 100% fit. Tyson is again, one of our best. If he was close to BOG last week, and his defensive work and disposal efficiency has improved, he is in. I understand we are short on backs then, I think they will rotate Jones and Lewis through there for some leadership.6 points

It's good to see the club add these little touches to embrace the Demon side of the equation, e,.g "Hell's Bells", #raisehell It's fine to brand around ties to the city, but we have the most badass moniker in the league. Embrace it I say.5 points

I like it. We went from the Fuschias to the Demons and #raisehell follows the sentiments behind that change.5 points

What? It's Cripps, Gibbs and Murphy that we should worry about if anything.5 points

Honestly, as happy as I was for the Dogs to break their drought, I am over them. Has there ever been a greater umpires' favourite? Throw the ball? Sure do what you like...you'll be looked after. They are cheats. No other word for it.4 points

I'd go Tesla. It screams innovation. Melbourne are the innovators of the men's and women's game. And now under Simon Goodwin, the Melbourne Football Club will continue to evolve and innovate on the footy field. That'd be my pitch anyway.4 points

#Raisehell is a better #hashtag because it’s #shorter (and no, people do not read many #books these days).4 points

We certainly won't have everything our own way in the middle like we did after Q1 last week. Kreuzer is firing on all cylinders and Cripps is the best clearance player in the league, coming off a limited pre-season, he will be better for the run. Tyson is a valuable inclusion rotating through the guts, I would think Lewis and Jones will assist our undermanned backline with ANB pushing into the midfield and Kent playing his high half-forward role. The Spencer experiment intrigues me, and with Max potentially not 100%, this week seems as good as any to try it.4 points

I completely understand the angst re Harmes. His turnovers by foot are infuriating. That said, I do like his size, speed and aggression, although he can drop off in that regard. Changes are going to be Tyson and Kent I would have thought.4 points

Hint is to join/rejoin in 2016 not in the last few days. My package was received ages ago and my brother and I (both longtime members) are taking our father (who only let his membership lapse this year) to the ground Sunday to celebrate his 92nd birthday by watching a Dees victory over Carlton!4 points

I thought the game was very entertaining - in a perverse sort of way.4 points

What the pies need is a good solid stopper in the backline. Someone like Lynden Dunn for instance...4 points

What a win does: 21 March Saints 36,906 Melbourne 35,756 29 March Saints 37,767 Melbourne 37,525 They have added 861 while we have added 1769. And that was their home game.4 points

Can understand Harmes ahead of Kent. Kent too similar to Hannan and Neal-Bullen for mine. Harmes is more "midfieldish" - is also tough, does the team stuff and can mark when on song. Kent may also be short of a run. Understand the argument that Kent is far classier, and it's true, it's just a question of the team mix for mine. I expect once Kent is back in he won't come back out again, and although the same can't be said for Harmes, it doesn't mean it's not the right choice for the short term.3 points

Kent sounded under whealming at VFL level and we've a full deck of forwards, Harmes brings grunt, run and backline experience. Don't mind it.3 points

I think we will win because we will back ourselves to score more. Carltons problem is they can't kick a big total and can't defend a small total. (In simple terms) I think we'll go for it and it'll rain goals. Rolls of goals. Goal after goal after goal. Goal upon goal. It'll be something beautiful to behold. 23 of them to be exact. Lovely.3 points

No need to elevate anyone at this stage. Wait until someone stakes a strong claim for senior selection through performances for Casey.3 points

GWS strike rate at the draft under SOS was poor. You would hate to think if they were even above average at drafting. Their concessions and ongoing academy picks are stunningly excessive.3 points

Collingwood and Richmond are reading this thread thinking "one day we too can get to average." PS: Prestia 43% eff. lol3 points

It's an interesting discussion about coaching in general. There is another thread which is discussion coaching in the afl - and i agree it is a very boys club industry. At the end of the day what drives success at a club? Roos or Jackson. My thoughts would be Jackson in setting up the system for coaches etc to flourish. But a lot of credit for the current tem needs to goto roos as well. Which brings me back to Macca. Why doesn't the afl coaching industry allow for second chances? Would Macca get another senior coching gig? If someone clearly develops and learns from the failures why couldn't they jave a second chance at the senior job. I personally love Macca at thr mfc to continue to nurture oliver, brayshaw etc but i think it's an interesting discussion3 points

What a pathetic crowd for two teams that have so many members. If Melbourne had as many members and supporters as these two teams we'd get 80,000 people per game.3 points

I think the club should spruik using past players and somebody like Robbo at both memebersip tents. Particularly in the MCC members area where it would be relatively easy to up grade MCC members with a $79 joint membership. Needs some subtle pressure is all and we could get a few thousand in one hit . Hope the club thinks about it3 points

Unless you want to laugh at the absolute butchery in the first 3 quarters, give it a miss. There were a few goals in the last 15 when it opened up a bit. But compared to almost every game in round 1 it was truly horrible. I wish we played either of them tonight. Me and you that is KK, we would've beat them.3 points

Conversely, some posters can't identify a player with ordinary skills.3 points

Fyfe and Dangerfield are almost universally acknowledge as the 2 or 2 of the best players in the comp and they both are pretty ordinary kicks - but they still do a ton of damage. I don't care about the odd mistake as long as the overall contribution is positive. If one of the Macs take a brilliant goal saving intercept mark, try and run the ball from defense then miss a target, I'm remembering the intercept mark and non-goal rather than the mistake. I know most will only focus on the mistake but I'm sure the coaches are more worried about the contribution.3 points

I'm going to make a massive call - Clayton Oliver will be our best midfielder since Ron Barassi (note Flower was a wingman in a very different era, so he's not included in my deliberations). When you work through it it's actually not such a big call, it's a logical call to anyone who's seen him play and is familiar with our lack of stars over the last 50 years. He's unquestionably Jason Taylor's best pick. To be pick 4 when you fail to make your U18 state team in the year you're drafted is incredible intuition and judgement by those that recruited you. The deal done to orchestrate two picks in the top 10 and make certain of the selection was just as brilliant, as it was the first time a deal of that nature had been done. We set the standard for other clubs to follow under the new points system. I'd say Hunt was his next stroke of genius in a long line of really solid or great decisions. And while there was a time I wanted to hunt Prendergast down he's done what virtually no other recruiter before him had, he recruited Gawn, who is a star of the game and should end his career as one of this club's greats.3 points
