  1. I don't know about anyone else but I've has enough of getting beaten by this mob. It's time.

  2. I already posted this in the preview thread, but North losing to Port has kept us in touch with the 8, even if barely. A win also puts us a game clear of St Kilda, Collingwood and Richmond. This season isn't dead yet. Screw our record against the Saints and at Etihad, now is the time to show we're better than these pretenders and put them to the sword.

  3. That is the most worrying comment I have heard Roos make. Lyon hasn't been there for 5 years and only a handful of StK players were coached by him. It sounds disrespectful to Richardson and Co and I'm really surprised our club chose to put that on twitter. Poor form all round.

  4. Congratulations to Jack Grimes in his 100th game today. Hope he plays a blinder.

  5. Amongst all the hand wringing and wrist slashing might I just mention how great it was that Watts went up and consoled Gus after his blooper just before 3/4 time. Then McCartney went out of his way to wrap his arm around him at 3/4 time. A few seconds later Bernie did similar. Implied message to young players: mistakes happen, don't worry, move on to the next contest and just play your role. Gus was filthy with himself and almost inconsolable but it must be reassuring for him to get that support. Respect earning leadership by Watts and Vince.

  7. Sometimes I really hate this club. I cannot remember the last time I went through a whole season without feeling disgusted at our performance on multiple occasions. Games like today are no longer good enough. There are no longer excuses for a consistent lack of effort or urgency. We should be past this [censored] now, but we are not. On a separate note, rubbish coaching performance today. Questionable selections again. Also not really acceptable given the money sitting in that coaching box.

  10. Our ability to over use handball and particularly to handball to another player in a worst position is unsurpassed!

  11. Seconded. Has a bad game and he has to hand over the captaincy? Please. Hogan had a mare today. Time to move him on perhaps?

  12. Please srop saying this. Freo almost beat Geelong with two days less break It is such a [censored] weak [censored] excuse. Who comes in that would possibly have made the difference?

  13. Not angry, just disappointed. I've yelled, gotten angry and been frustrated at our decisions today, but in the end I'm more disappointed than anything. But we lost the game up in the box with our gameplan. St. Kilda beat us EXACTLY how they beat us last time and we didn't seem to plan for it. No change at all. We started well, but the moment they put us under pressure we faltered. They made us look slow and we played some dumb footy which allowed them to get it down there end without trouble and score. I don't buy us being tired or whatever. Not enough players rose to the occasion. They stopped Hunt's run, Kennedy was poor, White and Grimes were WELL down on last week, Hogan had a mare, the captain was quiet, Vandenberg didn't do a whole lot... and the list goes on. So, what do we do? We reboot and look to next week. What else can we do? A few will get dropped and I think we know that guys like Grimes aren't the way forward. When the pressure lifted some of our guys were found wanting. Chin up fellas.

  15. I'm never confident going into games at Etihad especially against St Kilda and today is no exception. That said, I don't want a close win, I want to crush any spirit the 'aints may have, and hopefully with that crushing comes tears from Reiwoldt.

  17. Brayshaw, a few clangers aside, was pretty good. Had the second most contested possessions behind Viney and was good around the stoppages. Clearly he was a few steps off the pace having been out for so long, but he will get better. And I agree. It might be time to get Oliver back in the side.

  18. Many of us warned that the Essendon game was a danger game but the coaching staff were clueless. We forecast a problem with the Saints at Etihad in round 6 and could not have played a worse game. 18 uncontested marks inside 50 to the Saints. What did the caoching staff do? NADA. Today was a carbon copy. WTF are our coachig staff doing? We all knew what the Saints would do. Exactly what they did in Rd 6. And we were right again. Yet we played dumb dumb football threw too many at the contest let them flip it outside and run it down the outer side. Deja vous all over again Yet again Tom Mac has spectacular brainfades when the ball comes or when he takes a sound grab and tries to play on. Yet again a spud like Membrey has a day out on us. Yet again Montagna, Reiwoldt and Steven have a day out on us. Yet again Oscar Mac is bustled off the ball 10 time in a game. I don't get what he adds to to the team at this point but we can't keep taking so many inexperienced players into the backline each week It's soul destroying. MIdfielders going missing; Tyson and Vandenburg. VB is due a spell at Casey. Has done nothing since his return. Gawn getting jumped into by Hickey at every stoppage. Garlett and Kent go missing again in a loss. The chopping the arms rule has been thrown out. I am over making the same mistakes week after week.

  20. Last week was an exciting game by and for Jack. Great that he got to 100 games. He is in no way responsible for our loss today; that was a real team effort. But it was his last hoorah as a Demon. Today he showed even his most ardent fans, why.

  26. Move on to what? Watching the team we love with Jack Watts firmly entrenched in the best 22, regularly impacting games and in some cases having a big say on the outcome? It's hard not to talk about how much he's improved when he's improved so obviously. Yet you're the one dragging out his draft position. Looks like you're the one who needs to move on. Appreciate what you've got and enjoy the second half of the Jack Watts journey.

  27. Back to Jones. He usually plays far better than today even when we lose badly. One of our most consistent better players without argument. As for leadership though he has bugger all influence in lifting his teammates out of chronic softcockness syndrome.

  28. Have been a great Roos fan but that comment has lost me. Complete turn around from what he was saying during the week. Probably embarrassed by the performance, as he should be.

  31. The big issue I had here was that they did exactly the same thing to us as last time. Did the coaches do any analysis last time? Did they by any chance look into why the Saints were able to get so many free players taking uncontested marks inside their forward 50? Could the possibly have deduced that the usual structures we use play directly into the hands of a hard spreading St Kilda outfit and that just possibly they might need to swallow their pride and make some adjustments? Yes, most of our players were poor, but they were thrown to the lions by our coaches today.

  34. Stu, I don't mean to sound condescending but that is such shallow and simplistic explanation of what happened. It's the kind of thing somebody who doesn't really know what else to say, will say. You say that we couldn't keep up with them after quarter time. Here's why we lost: Yet again, the inconsistency in decision making and skill execution from so so many of our players today after 1/4 time was it. It is nothing more than our ability to make the same errors consistently that cost us the game. That is it Stu. Nothing to do with not having fresh legs. We are simply a team who have players who at the top of their game are really valuable, but too many times we see them having down games and games in which their skill execution and decision making is way below what it needs to be.

  37. Players and coaching staff learned nothing from our first game against them this year. You could play footage of the game side by side and it would look exactly the same. We haven't turned the corner yet, and we won't have until we beat this mob.

  39. Dear coaching staff and leadership group, If you get beaten by the same team, on the same ground, in the same way twice in a season with essentially the same team - it's on you and you need to never, ever let it happen again.

  42. I was pleased by the zest and energy of last week in a difficult environment playing a side we were fancied to beat and actually got the job done as it should. I expect the same today. If so, it will be a sign of character and mental improvement to match the improved quality of the list.

  45. Agreed Jack! Not only is it time but it will be today! To this end I've emptied my Sportsbet account on the Dees. However, I will not attend Shitiad Stadium but rather, I and the lads, shall watch our magnificent win from the palatial Theatre Room at Romsey Manor.

  46. I've been staunch for Watts in the face of some truly bad games. Also Neville,Gawn and the skipper. I've backed Hunt to become a star early. I still say Salem will be a star. Never doubted Jack Viney. In fact,I'm very rarely wrong ever. About anything. Most of you will know that by now.
