Heard on SEN this morning that the Hun is reporting that Bernie has re-signed. Nothing on the MFC website a this stage, but if true, I am rapt. Bernie has embraced the club fully since coming over from Adelaide and is a great character for the MFC.20 points

Mate you watching the games? Against the pies he hit a leading forward lace out 3 times with run from half back , insane comment based on what is a common misconception.7 points

Oh! My Kingdom for a humble hyphen! (Hyphens are my friend! Especially if it means the difference between whether one of our stars stays or goes...!!) So, to be plain, we want Jeffie to RE-SIGN, and NOT to resign...!!5 points

Yeah its in the paper. He needed to pay two more games to trigger the clause but the club got pro active and signed him to a better deal.5 points

Or is it just because they are they 22 and 20 respectively? I reckon you only have to be 5% off the boil mentally to appear slow and lazy at AFL level, which renders you completely useless. I reckon it's just a function of inexperience, and the problem we have is that half our team is filled with players at this age and level of experience - if too many off them fall off the effort cliff at once, the results reflect accordingly. The question is, how do you address it? I doubt their lack of "putting in" is intentional (I definitely don't like the term "pick and choose"), just more a lack of recognising when the focus is off and lacking experience in breaking out of it. You could drop them, but in the case of Kent in particular, he's clearly best 22 - you risk hurting the team by doing this. I don't think dropping them is particularly productive, in the same sense that you wouldn't punish your kids for knocking over a glass of water - save the punishment type responses for the players who actively, consciously defy team rules. It needs to be responded to with education, and this is something that can happen while in the team still I think - until the player starts to become a real repeat offender then you're left with no choice. This is where Roos, Goodwin et al (should) earn their money IMO.5 points

Just read in the paper that their is talk of covering the train line between the g and Melbourne park and putting parks and bars and the like in there. I think the club should get on their bike and lobby the state government to help provide a training ground for us in this plan. The area just to the west of the G would do nicely and if the area is used it would give us great publicity. It would also provide us the chance to potentially have all our organisation, including gyms etc within cooee of each other, maybe even under the one roof, and it is essentially based at OUR home. Eddie of course will try and stomp all over any such plan but it is about time us and the AFL told him to pull his head in.4 points

If he can't get himself fit enough to play consistent footy (or at least on the park) then he might get the ultimate pay cut... 300k is way overs for someone that can't get on the park and has no other team knocking the door down to get him. We couldn't get a trade for Dawes if we tried. This could well be his last year at the club.4 points

Great news re Bernie. I hope Dawes is looking at a reduced term as well. In fact, I'd probably only offer him 1 year if he gets a contract at all.4 points

I find that sensibility interesting. People are entitled to it... Personally, I put press conferences right at the bottom of my list of priorities when it comes to assessing a coach. If he uses management speak, I'm fine with that. Produce on the field, and everything else will be fine. I think 90% of the time coaches are just trying to deflect nonsense questions from the media. Many respect the media, or certain members, and that's fair enough too. Personally I don't really.3 points

Presented plenty of stuff - just that the judge didn't regard it as evidence supporting his claims. Annoying to have people with legal training dismiss your carefully concocted narrative so arbitrarily. I'm sure Tania would have helped him with his submission though -if they're still talking that is.3 points

If I found a man driving a truck of chicken poo fertilizer lost in the wilderness, I would say unto him, brother, the address you seek is Punt Road (cnr Brunton Ave) Richmond 3121. If I saw a woman unable to melt her membership ticket because her microwave was broken, I would say unto her, here, sister. Use my microwave as it were yours. If I saw a man too dry and parched to spit on his coach, I would say unto him, come, father. Sup of my wine that you may salivate once more. And I would do these charitable acts for any the 17 clubs!3 points

From the article. Cannot be serious, surely to god? Nobody was hurt more than richmond? So all other clubs had picks that were not affected by GWS priority picks? That article is insane.3 points

Getting to 40,000 will not only be a fabulous achievement it will also make it a lot easier for PJ to get our major sponsors eg AHG to renew their contracts which expire this year. We need them on board as well as more members. Maybe 40,000 will help PJ flesh out some new sponsors!2 points

Only pipped by the great Nottingham Forest winning back to back Eurpoean Cups under Brian Clough (see username). But seriously, it is a monumental achievement. As for its relevance to footy, I just can't see such an underdog winning a flag. Reason being in football/soccer, I think the lower scoring lends itself to upsets and more unpredictability. There is no chance of a team like Carlton this year coming out and consistently winning games of footy.2 points

Kent and Harmes are interesting ones. Both were utterly appalling against Essendon but picked themselves up for North, Collingwood and Richmond (Kent especially). I've never seen Kent run so hard and work so hard as he did against Collingwood. But both then fell into bad habits against St Kilda. I'm not sure what the problem is. Do they pick and choose when to put in 100%? Are they not fit enough to do it weekly? Did they think the game was won early? Not sure what it is but we can't continue to play players like them who fluctuate from fantastic to abysmal like that.2 points

As a lifelong Gunner i tip my hat to Leicester. They had the fire in the belly to not let go I hope Roosy talks to our players about what Leicester have done. They had no 5 year plan. They just went out there and DID IT Made heroes of themselves. What are you going to do next season Arsene? 4th again???2 points

The beauty of Demonland, and other fan forums is that its a place to let off steam after a disappointing loss. Saty seems to not understand that., and I am not even sure why he visits here to be honest. Literally all his posts are just him whining about non footy related matters ie. posters on this forum.2 points

Etihad tenant teams have been pushing to get more home games at the G. Especially Carlton and Essendon. Compare their ES vs G home games a few years ago to now. To accommodate that other vic clubs play home games at ES. However, the rub for us is that the likes of Hawthorn Richmond and Collingwood play heaps of away games at the G which we don't. Geelong have SS. So they all get more home ground advantage games than us. Our total games this year at the G is one of the lowest ever. Atmo we have no negotiating power with the afl. What little we have is used up trying to keep the ANZAC Eve and QB games. It might change if The 4 Vic Powerhouse clubs stay stuck at the bottom of the ladder for a few years?2 points

I go every week, mate. I go to all the Melbourne-based matches. I'm going to Sydney next month and I always go to Geelong. I don't like others mocking my football club, but there's a line where as a supporter you can demand more. My experience of your posts, either directed at me or others, is that any questioning of the club is an affront to you. Pointing out weaknesses and things we could improve on doesn't necessarily translate to doom and gloom. As for expressing your disappointment to the club and players directly, that's why I go to the games. I let them know too. Over the fence. I also couldn't care if I was identified publicly, but you wear that pride with such disdain for others that it gets tiresome. And I think you 'baiting' posters is you hiding behind your keyboard. It's either trolling or you don't understand there are shades of grey.2 points

That's a good post. Are you worried? Or more just hoping they tighten up? I remember thinking on the weekend that we saw things that were drastically out of character from everyone except Jesse. And that goes for Roosy too. how he didn't drop player back to stem the bleeding I'll never know. I saw 6 goals that could have been avoided with a decision or two from the box. To me, that gives me hope.2 points

Why does it have to make money? If it's encouraging more young girls into footy then it's fulfilling it's purpose. There's more to sport than money you realize?2 points

Just as there would be no AFL but for the pioneers, ahem... The Melbourne football ground and there would be no MCG if not for the first tenant, the Demons, there would be no women's league if not for the work of the pioneers, one being the AFL. If the season doesn't open with the only traditional rivalry in the women's game, then the AFL are and even bigger bunch of pr1cks than I thought they were (and that takes quite an effort).2 points

The Dees do so much for women's footy we'd have to get the inaugural game. I'm the runner for my partner's VWFL team and my runner's vest, as does every other of the dozens of runner's in all the divisions, has a big MFC logo on the back. Can't say I've seen the pies logo out there2 points

It fn annoys me at times as to the ideas of self entitlement some have. In this instance Eddie and his flogs. The opening game belongs to two clubs and two clubs only. The ones that have pioneered the ladies format. That would be our good selves and the Pups. I'd like to hear Jackson come out with that viewpoint and shove McGuire and his delinquents back where they belong. Bloody upstarts !!!2 points

It's all part of the transition. Would you rather us go back to 2014/2015 where the defence is sound but the offence is distinctly average? Getting the balance right between both will take a little time, and as we ramp up the offence it will take us a while to make sure we integrate that well with our defence as well. Some on here are far too short sighted for their own good.2 points
