  1. Who'd of thought beating Collingwood could get any better? Post game in the lift with mostly Melbourne fans. Stop at level 3 and in walks none othen Eddie Maguire. You could hear a pin drop. I asked him how the call went to which he replied " yeah! ". More silence followed before i replied geez i knew i should have taped press red for Ed! His reply.....Hhhmmm! ......Followed by more silence. All is well in the world tonight!!!

  2. How about seeing him stream through half forward for a shot at goal from 40 at full tilt? He missed the goal unfortunately, but the intent was amazing. Would have lifted the roof off if he'd drilled it. He's playing with great confidence now, and took it up a level with his intensity today I thought.

  4. Brilliant stuff. Further evidence that the over-reactions of some on here are ridiculous in the extreme. Roosy is setting us up perfectly, and while the bumps can be hard to take, we need to be patient. Go Dees!

  5. All of my 61 years, two things have brought me joy: 1. Melb winning, and 2. Coll losing. When it happens in the same game, I'm totally over the moon! Haven't had this feeling in SUCH a long time! Will savour it!

  6. I am a MASSIVE Garland fan. He cares so much, and works so hard. He isn't a perfect player but he gives you everything. His reaction on the siren was heart warming. I hope they sign him ASAP

  8. Not your usual Jack Watts thread. He has been fantastic the last 5 or 6 weeks. He has chased and tackled along with his usual high efficiency with the ball. I was starting to lose faith with him but he has been fantastic the last few weeks.

  9. Harsh on Tyson. Was a bit wasteful but nine tackles, six clearances and 23 disposals indicates he did a decent job.

  11. They say that unless you’ve felt racial or religious oppression personally then you don’t know what it really means. That’s why I find much of the discourse we’re having at the moment so distasteful; and some of the excuses given to justify the constant booing of Adam Goodes are so patently pathetic that it beggars belief. I support the players’ stance of wearing Aboriginal colours in support of Adam Goodes who is a great Australian and without doubt a person of quality which I measure far beyond those who boo him. For several years I have also worn a symbol of my support for our Aboriginal people in honour of those members of the community who on 6 December, 1938 led a march down Collins Street to the German consulate where they attempted to present a petition to the German consul-general, D.W. Dreschler in protest against the "cruel persecution" of Jews in Germany in the wake of Kristallnacht -- the night of broken glass – when the Jews were targeted for killings or bashings, and Jewish businesses and homes were smashed. We know where that led and I wear my black bracelet in honour of Reverend William Cooper who organised what I understand was the only protest in the outside world at that time. For more about Reverend Cooper, see here. This entire controversy is bringing shame on the country and the sport and I salute our indigenous people and Adam Goodes for the dignified way in which they have put up with this tragic episode.

  12. The reason we see frustration from supporters including myself like we have seen over recent weeks is because we now see some hope. Other years I went to the footy accepting to lose. Now aside from the top 4 our ability to get in a winning position is dependant on our intensity and our ability to stick to a plan and minimise our errors. Today was another good step in the right direction. Gawn, Viney and Watts have all taken massive steps forward in the last 6 weeks. There will more frustrations week to week but I will not doubt at all that we have improved and more than the ladder will show.

  13. 2013: 2 wins 2014: 4 wins, with an average winning margin of 11 points 2015: 6 wins (already), with an average winning margin of 30 points We are improving. There will be moments of frustration (like last week) but the proof is there. Roos has made us a much better side than the Neeld era. It was never going to happen overnight, and there's still a long way before we can even talk about finals let alone a flag, but we're improving.

  16. Jones - dynamic when needed Dunn - unstoppable in defence Hogan - constantly provided target Watts - dynamic link man Dawes - tried but clumsy Viney - wonderful tagging game Lumumba - dynamic and safe Brayshaw - great second half Tyson - lethargic and wasteful Cross - outstanding tagging role Garland - excellent defensive drive Michie - just lacked nous Vince - another wonderful game McDonald - was rarely noticed Neal-Bullen - failed to impose Grimes - better second half Garlett - just a cameo Howe - finally 4 quarters Jetta - displayed great endeavour vandenBerg - tough and disciplined Harmes - made an impression Gawn - knows he belongs

  18. I have been reading all your posts for a couple of years but rarely contribute. But today I feel the need.Last year I opined that Max had a great future in front of him.I was right! My son plays for the Ormond footy club. On the Saturday before we beat Geelong Max was watching Ormond .He did play for Ormond so he drops down occasionally. At 1/4 time I walked onto the ground to the players' huddle - and Max was just behind me.So I couldn't resist the chance to say "Well done Max you're playing good footee-keep at it".He smiled and held up his hands as if marking a ball and said " I've just got to learn to take a few of these".Then he went down to Geelong and the rest is history! I believe that I helped Max feel more confident about himself and turned his career around!!!Go Max ( and yes,he is big when up close)

  19. One of the best team efforts I've seen from the dees in years. Hard to give votes. Just loved the view of Eddie at the end of the game. I find his pain more satisfying than giving myself a jolly good flo gging.

  21. Must say I loved the half time scuffle, especially Jones getting up with a massive smile on his face, all the players getting in to stick up for each other, and Viney taking Varcoe and throwing him meters behind the scuffle and continuing on with it. Was definitely a highlight of the day!

  25. Thought we'd win that. Typical Melbourne. I'm loving the fact that at least 'typical Melbourne' means we win when all seems hopeless and lose when we should win. That was always bound to happen this season. I said we'd win between 6-8 games this year. We've won 6 now, so any wins from here are brilliant. Let's see if we can't break some other records like winning two in a row and winning at Etihad. And Bernie Vince, you're a star.

  27. It's almost entirely above the shoulders, I reckon. We just need to keep getting wins, whether ugly/indifferent/scrappy/impressive, and continue to eradicate the losing culture of the past.

  31. AD, I've watched this player since day one... He drove me mad, but then I worked him out - a finisher, cool as, lightning fast and skilled. Let Vanders do the bullocking! I've made my peace with JW.

  32. 52% TOG though. Again I raise the question: why bother? I know we're not inundaded with talent in the VFL at the moment, but surely there is someone that they have the confidence in to give them proper midfield time. I can't see how this does Viv or the team any good.

  34. Yep. The cool head under pressure has been a feature for the last month or so, but the charging forward like a maniac was a new thing. Confidence is a wonderful thing.

  46. A big shout out to Declan Keilty who will debut tomorrow as Casey's 23rd man. A terrific young kid who got overlooked in last years draft but continues to work his backside off and is getting the rewards he deserves. At 195cm and still only 19 I think this kid has a massive future. Good luck Dec.
