Nope. It sucked, but he is coming off a stress fracture to his foot that you blokes would quit the game over. He tries very hard, contributed to three or four of our goals and absolutely is a fantastic leader to his team-mates. Am I disappointed that he hasn't turned into Jimmy Bartel like we all though he would? Yes. But he's our captain, and a young kid trying to play good footy. If he's our captain you need to respect him. If you don't think he should be captain, then he's just a young kid and you need to cut him some slack. But because he's both young and a captain, you all seem to think he deserves neither the latitude we give young players, nor the reverence every captain of this footy club should be given.

The problem with the bagging Toumpas isn't "bagging Toumpas". He has been poor, we all know it. The vitriol, hate and derision is uncalled for. Last week he was fantastic for us. A poor half and he is the worst player ever.

Fitzpatrick was terrible last week, but great this week. Toumpas was great last week but terrible this week. Demonland's Official Conclusion: Fitzpatrick is great but Toumpas sucks.

When has Trengove played like a captain should? What a Joke. Robbie Flower was a Captain as was David Neitz.

Why are people rambling on about Trengove tackling alot? Mckenzie does the same and he was picked up as a late rookie. We didn't use a #2 draft pick on a tagger/tackler.

I like Strauss. If he plays well this week he surely comes in. I did say at the start of the year he would have a break out year and that was a dud call, so who knows, I could be wrong, but I see a decent footballer there unlike many others on the list.

Toumpas not having a single possession is as much his coach and teammates' fault as it is his. Geelong's senior players get the young players into the game by giving them cheapies. Melbourne players do the opposite; they see you're having an off night and so they look away from where you are. Jack Watts had to deal with it in his first year, and now Jimmy Toumpas' development is being stunted in exactly the same way. It isn't good enough.

Because he's probably never played in tropical conditions before.

I'm done with Shane Watson. That review was 100% selfish, nothing else. He's a petulant boy who wants to be everything; he wants to open the batting, he wants to open the bowling, he wants to field at first slip, he wants to be captain, he wants to be everything. We will go nowhere while he keeps opening the batting - you need more from your number 1 than 30s and 40s and 50s with no prospect of 100s and a constant worry of being out LBW, a flaw he's not been able to fix in 6 years. Khawaja is terrible. The fact he's getting a game speaks volumes of our complete lack of batting depth. Smith and Hughes will occasionally give a good knock, but generally lack the technique to be consistent. Rogers and Clarke are our only two Test-quality batsmen, with Clarke out of form and Rogers copping some really rough LBW decisions and good bowling. Major, major struggle street.

He's been back for 13 weeks. No excuses. If he's not right, he shouldnt be playing. It's literally painful watching him run.

We already have Kent and Blease in the team in the same role as Byrnes so we are developing some and it's not like Tapscott or Taggert are knocking the door down in the VFL.
