Disgraceful thread. I hope he has the worst flight ever. I hope his dad sits on the seats next to him.10 points

I love how - once we realised that he was only going to be a good ordinary player - we tricked GWS into stealing him so we could free up some money to pinch Mitch, and get some compo picks to have another crack at the draft and hopefully get a champ this time. Anyway that's my story and I'm sticking to it.8 points

Watts delivering pin-point passes to Garland and Rivers is something I never thought I'd ever see.6 points

Great job by the crowd today, didn't let up, now we move on. $cully is a thing of the past, and IMO he isn't even that good. Good hands and engine and that's it.6 points

This attitude is one I always find amusing. I mean, imagine if we didn't win? Or did what the Tigers did last week? Would we take anything from it then? I took a few things out of it and I hope some of the players with improved form take something from it too...5 points

On ya, Davey. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't want him to succeed. Let's hope he can.5 points

Everything is black and white in football if you believe forum speak. Dud or star. Brilliant or terrible coach. Fast or slow. Exciting or boring. Craves success, or accepts mediocrity. I've got a permanent lump on my forehead from bashing my head against the desk while reading these forums.5 points

That really [censored] me off. I was also glad they gave him a free when Davey pushed him in the back. He is a champ and the reception he got from our supporters today speaks volumes. Scully will be lucky to get that reception from his own supporters, let alone opposition supporters.4 points

my god mate go and get yourself some help. We've won 2 for the year and this was an absolute smashing that we havent enjoyed for years. SIT BACK FOR A SECOND AND ENJOY IT PLEASE4 points

He was [censored]. McKenzie towelled him up. So much so it was one of Jordie's best offensive games in a while. He is a pathetic scumbag and I hope he enjoys a career of humiliating defeats and turnovers. Mitch Clark every day of the week and twice on Sunday please!4 points

I have come home hoarse from booing. Two young girls in front of me kept blocking thier ears each time I booed I was so loud. I enjoyed every boo, let me tell you. By the end of the game my wife was giving me "the look" because my booing was getting under her skin. However, by half way through the last quarter Scully became irrelevant to me enjoying the rest of the game. I have purged my soul and Scully is now in the past. He may become a really good footballer in the next few years but he has made a monumental blunder in choosing GWS. But from here on, what happens to him has no importance to me whatsoever. R.I.P. - any further interest in Scully, father or son.3 points

My thoughts: I love Tom Mcdonald Seriously towled up Patton and ran off his man all day and got plenty of touches and it shows his confidence is building. We all think Mitch bleeds red and blue and I'm worried we will see what colour his spine is one day too. I nearly jumped out of my seat to give him CPR. Russian foot must be sore as he got more kicks today then every other game for the year. To me Davey still looks cooked. Tom scully is a [censored] chant was gold today!3 points

The guy sitting in front of me (who seemed to have no affilation to either team) interrupted my booing by turning around and asking "Would Jim Stynes boo Tom Scully?" Couldn't come up with a witty response in 5 seconds. I always seem to sit with weirdos.3 points

It was a training drill for 3 quarters. Jones is sensational, as is Clark. Moloney was embarrassing. Scully is a [censored].3 points

like neelds experimentation - better than last year where Bailey tried nothing creative. Just need to boost our onball division.3 points

My throat is sore from the booing - like everyone around me I didn't let up all day. He was pathetic, glad he is gone.3 points

Davis and Cook should've been blooded, what easier way to get a taste. Oh well, opportunity lost. Great start by Scully. Shame he was subbed off at quarter time. Tom McDonald = The Mop I love Jeremy Cameron, but not as much as I love Mitchy witchy Cwarky warky. I've said for years Riv should be tried forward, you're alright Mark Neeld. Good to see Sylvia show up for the snow show, still don't know where Moloney is. Phil Davis is garbage. Phil Scully is fat. Bate was good after his usual unco start. As good as Patton will be, he was absolutely man-handled by The Mop and Sellar, good to see. Puts Watts' early games into perspective, and emphasises what a talent Cameron is. Watts was smooooth.3 points

I've heard Sheedy speak a number of times at various functions. I have always been very impressed - he has vision and a passion for people and the game. He is also a provocateur - and I like that. Sheedy sniping us from the sidelines has not be the problem with the MFC over the past few years.3 points

The quotes from Rawlings confirm how I've viewed Clark's departure from Brisbane from day one. He didn't leave for home sickness or for money - the latter just helped him choose his destination. He left because he wanted out of Brisbane, for whatever reason. I also found his reaction to Jimmy's death pretty moving. Anyway, like most have said in here I love the guy. Has leadership, is tough and can actually play; we've had far too few players with all three traits in recent years. He's currently the closest thing we've got to a genuine star.3 points

As an active cheersquad member I ask myself the same question. We had 2 sessions this week with 6 people attending each to eventually get this week's banner together. It's an essay....again. This week it has become a very hard task because of our lack of numbers. All for 5 minutes. The sponsors pay handsomely for their name on the banner. We like to acknowledge player milestones but Jack isn't getting much acknowledgement for his 50th this week. Beamer is the only player who now seems to use ripping through the banner as a rev up. Our current captains lift the crepe.....a long way off Neita who shouldered through in a smash and crash fashion. Our lack of active members is a reflection of our ladder position. In the last 6 years there have been occasions when we'd like to call off the banner for lack of interest. The position of our Club? We'll make it happen because otherwise we'd be the laughing stock of the AFL. It's easy to say "Walk Away" but there are a few dedicated committed members who would never allow this to happen. It's not easy getting out there every week but tomorrow we'll be giving GWS every assistance needed to pole their banner at the ground and then get it up. We've been told they may have 12 members turn up. And we're all going to forge ahead no matter how hard this is and we live and dream about happier days when we have members queuing up to help3 points

I hope we play Sellar on Merrett next week, and even let him spend some time on Brown. He keeps solidifying his place down back and i can imagine taking a big scalp will make him get even better (confidence player).2 points

If I read this thread without knowing the score I'd think we were losing. I certainly wouldn't think we were 5 goals up.2 points

Am i alone in thinking Daveys done ok. A few times he just needed to go himself rather than a silly handball ( that are invariably to slick for receiver) otherwise his vision and setups have been very good2 points

At least three of GWS's goals came from catastrophic Melbourne errors. I wish I wish I wish we could iron those out of our game. We'd be a ten goal better side.2 points

Stupid start time. I remember the good old days (three years ago) when games started around 2:00PM or even 1PM. Now I've got even more time to waste before it starts. Oh well, I'm at work, so I guess I should probably waste it working.2 points

gees mate what do you want him to do...put a licence agreement on the bottom of the banner?? ff. Everyone here knows its Lucifers..and a good one.The more of this banner the better imho. Love to see hundreds of them2 points

Luke Darcy may be a [censored] of the highest order, but one of his frequent comments is that "things are never as good as they seem and they're never as bad as they seem." Too true. If only he'd follow his own advice and stop calling people "Elite" all the time.2 points

Football followers annoy me in that a bloke like Naitanui plays a blinder last week and he is a superstar and he is the best ruckman since Polly Farmer, and then the next week he is quiet and he is deemed a complete dud. Everyone seems to make knee-jerk comments to a team's or player's last game. The truth, as it is most of the time in footy, is somewhere in the middle. Just wait for the week long [censored] fest over Michael Hurley kicking 6 over at Subi tonight.2 points

Anyone would think some of you guys were awesome footballers the way you critique some players. Conditions were not great. I've played at that ground a few times and it can be very windy, not like playing at the G or most of the other pristine AFL grounds. I agree most of the game, especially the first 1/4, was not pretty but the effort was good. I loved tynan's game. Yes he made some mistakes but he has a real crack and I'm sure neeld would love that. He at least is playing some games in his first year, which is a real luxury for us compared to our recent past. I thought Strauss was terrific in his first real game for a while. His kicking in those conditions was awesome and he tackled and competed well when he had too. I'm sure he would have had close to 20 possessions, which would have been at a high efficiency. Martin was everywhere, but I agree you never knew what was going to happen when he got it. Sometimes I'm not sure he knows. Gysberts got better and better as the game went on. He has missed a lot of footy in the last couple of years and his lack of fitness showed late in the game. I hope he gets to play the rest of the year and build some confidence. Hopefully at AFL level as well because in my opinion our midfield is our biggest weakness. I didn't mind cook's game today. Was it great, no, but he worked hard all over the ground, even helping out with possessions across half back. The kicking into the forward line was not great and didn't really help his cause but as I said earlier conditions weren't great. He did alot of really good things to build on his previous 2 games. I have enjoyed watching Casey play this year and I think the coach has a lot to do with it. Players that come back are normally put in a place that helps improve them and increase their confidence. There will be quite a few changes at the end of the season I believe but I think it's heading in the right direction. I do hate losing and have found the last 6 seasons the hardest in the last 30 odd years. Remember casey won another close game and i know its not melbourne but Please try not to be so completely negative.2 points

Let's have a look at the list. Bail has shown some glimpses, and also some glaring deficiencies. One thing he does though is try all day, which Neeld loves. Bartram may be a surprise loss if his knee is as bad as they are making out. This could be the salvation of one of our mid-tier players. Bate at this stage hasn't done enough, so would have to be on the block. Bennell I think has had his chance and failed to take it. For all his pace and the occasional glimpse of silky skill he simply doesn't touch the ball often enough. Blease is just beginning to show what he can do. Still needs to work on his defence, but will be kept. Clark obviously will stay. Sets the standard in so many areas it's not funny. Cook is starting to show signs that he will be able to play once he fills out a bit. Davey might do better to retire, but I don't think he will. May be pushed, although his off-field role with the younger indigenous boys could save him. Davis is a harsh one. He's nearing the end of his first two year contract and hasn't played a game. Could be that the coach isn't a big fan. Dunn is our best defensive forward, but he is finding it hard to get games in that role for some reason. Again, it could be a case of not being on the coaches radar enough to be kept. Fitzpatrick should be safe. Given the general rule that talls take longer and his impressive array of disorders, he should be given more time to find his way. Frawley is a no-brainer. AA defender. Safe. Garland is also safe. Even with his bad kicking, he is a regular starter and now has the extra string of playing forward. Gawn will be back next year. Neeld won't throw away a 207cm ruck who he's never seen play. I think Green is going to pull the plug and retire. Probably angle for a final home game later this year. Grimes is safe. Named Captain and is playing better each week. Gysberts needs to work on his endurance, but has the size and agility to be our Pendleberry. Should be fine even with his injury worries. Howe is in no danger. Coach loves him. Jamar just signed for three more years. Jetta is another one who could be hard done by. I think he suits Neeld down to the ground, but if he can't get on the park and prove it he could be in trouble. Jones is thriving under Neeld and will carry the banner for the new way of doing things for years to come. Jurrah kind of depends on the outcome of his court case. If he winds up in Jail, could be the end. MacDonald should be moved on at the end of the year. While he was a good player for us at the time, he is now being exposed with poor pace, decision making and skills. Still a good 1-1 competitor, but has been leapfrogged by younger, better players. McDonald has had a great year and is certain to be kept on. McKenzie I'm not 100% sure of. While he is loved by the fans, we have to admit that he is very limited. He fights and tackles, but his disposal and speed are issues. Might be a shock. Martin has value in the second ruck/forward role, but has struggled with form and injury and his skills still aren't great. Might be floated as trade bait. Moloney should be safe. Even though he has had a poor year, we need to keep some senior players around the place, and he could be it. Slim chance for trading, but my money is on his staying. Morton is 50/50 to my mind. He has improved under Neeld, but he needs more discipline to go with the better output. Petterd is iffy. He has had some injuries, but even so is clearly no tin Neelds best 22. Struggling to get game time. Trade Bait for mine. Rivers has really stepped up this year. He's found his mojo again and is leading the way in the backline. Safe. Sellar isn't the greatest player, but Neeld clearly likes what he brings to the table. In many ways he is a bigger, more athletic version of Warnock, and may well stay in that role. Spencer needs to start showing something. He's about to hit 23, so even as a ruck he's just about to run out of time. Has to break into the seniors or he's gone. Strauss was just starting to look like a player when his leg went. Should be ok, but I think we need to se him string some games together Sylvia continues to frustrate us all. I think he will be on the trade table. Taggert is fine. Write off this year, get his body right and we'll see what he's got next season. Tapscott has consistently failed to show the level of talent he is supposed to have. We need to see some better efforts from him. Probably safe, but you never know. Trengove is fine. While his disposals are down he is doing a lot of uncredited work on the field, and the coaches and teammates are well aware of it. Tynan - see Taggert Watts seems to have found his feet to some extent in the backline. It's good to see him gaining confidence. He'll be fine. Looking at this, we could be seeing Bartram, Bate, Bennell, Davey, Davis, Dunn, Green, Jetta, Jurrah, MacDonald, Petterd Spencer and Sylvia in the firing line. That's 13 guys who either are on shakey ground or could be retiring due to age or injury (or prison time). Obviously some are more likely to go than others, but it gives us some idea of who needs to step up and show something. It's probably worth looking into their contract status as well.2 points

When lamenting our woes my Brother recently asked me, "When was the last gun midfielder we had ?". I said, "It would have to be Todd Viney, who made our Team of the Century". He replied, "FFS, we're just about to draft his Son". "Yes, it's been a while". I note that some are saying that we call the other minnows bluff. How about we just accept that we're going to draft a very highly rated progeny that may just be the best mid we've had in a while ? Lord knows he won't go astray.2 points
