  1. There's an open training session at Goschs Paddock this Saturday morning. The Demon Army with Membership Volunteers will be firing up the BBQ. The MFC merchandise tent will be at the ground. Warm up with Mo's coffee cart and wait to see your favourite player for photos and autograph opportunities. The boys are usually very relaxed at training sessions & have plenty of time for all. It won't be the full squad on Saturday because the Casey Scorps are playing on Saturday afternoon. If it works for you, come along.
  2. I'm going! If it's anything like last year's event with David Schwarz and Clint Bizzell you wouldn't want to miss it - even if it is a mid-week event. Last year Robbo sat with Schwarta & Bizz and talked like old friends, like the reins were off. It was all about Schwarta but it was also a very relaxed Robbo like I'd never seen before. The Vineys are sure to be just as entertaining. I can't wait....and the best part? It's an affordable event for regular supporters, because it's about covering costs and hoping for profit in the interests of providing something for our everyday fans.
  3. Yes, I remember & it got me thinking. Neale began his MFC career as the Head Coach of the team but it was the pre-season of 2004 when Paul Gardner was President and membership sales were poor that he was asked to get out and sell the Club. As a supporter I'll never know but it looked as though his contract had a new clause - Sell our Club to the masses - & he did! He became The Reverend and his preaching worked.
  4. Joel MacDonald ( & Cam Pedersen) trained with the senior team this morning....didn't look at all unwell!
  5. You can call us a "family" waynewussell but it was The Demon Army that brought the flags, floggers, patties, Big Heads & chants to the ground. We are a family - a devoted red & blue family - and you can find us behind the goals each week. I'm glad we were on the same page as Demonlanders when we hatched this idea before we left the ground last Saturday night. Now we all need to turn up at the G tomorrow. Demon Army will be there!
  6. As an active cheersquad member I ask myself the same question. We had 2 sessions this week with 6 people attending each to eventually get this week's banner together. It's an essay....again. This week it has become a very hard task because of our lack of numbers. All for 5 minutes. The sponsors pay handsomely for their name on the banner. We like to acknowledge player milestones but Jack isn't getting much acknowledgement for his 50th this week. Beamer is the only player who now seems to use ripping through the banner as a rev up. Our current captains lift the crepe.....a long way off Neita who shouldered through in a smash and crash fashion. Our lack of active members is a reflection of our ladder position. In the last 6 years there have been occasions when we'd like to call off the banner for lack of interest. The position of our Club? We'll make it happen because otherwise we'd be the laughing stock of the AFL. It's easy to say "Walk Away" but there are a few dedicated committed members who would never allow this to happen. It's not easy getting out there every week but tomorrow we'll be giving GWS every assistance needed to pole their banner at the ground and then get it up. We've been told they may have 12 members turn up. And we're all going to forge ahead no matter how hard this is and we live and dream about happier days when we have members queuing up to help
  7. I've watched him at training where he's had his right calf heavily strapped from ankle to knee..but then I saw him on crutches after our Darwin game last year " I'll be right" & he played the next week
  8. It doesn't matter who the oppo is....it's night footy, especially FRIDAY night footy...the AFL's marquee night...that brings out the worst supporters enmasse. They leave work, have a few drinks along the way, & keep drinking at the footy. Because they've arrived form work, the kids aren't in tow, the partner's at home, it's a drink fest. I loathe Friday night footy. On Saturday night it's not quite so bad. Where I sit it's part of the routine to see the ugly supporter...either our own or the oppo. The answer is always to call in Security. The Club are only dealing with heresay after the event whilst Security can act immediately. So why do we keep putting ourselves in a position to cop abuse? Supporters who go every week, winning or losing, we're just sick, sick people!!!
  9. Not all players were out on the track and those that were there were all doing different drills & tasks. What I really enjoyed was seeing all the coaches getting in and working with the different groups...like the photo above shows. And from the sidelines you can hear Neeld as well. Aaron was focussed on short sprints on his own for the whole session. The rehab guys were doing different lap running drills...well that's what Ricky said when I laughed with him about being overtaken by Grimes! LJ is back strolling, jogging laps....dare I say, taking it easy. He's about the only player I can say that for!
  10. Michael has hung up the #50 guernsey. He'll now be wearing #32.
  11. Are you sure he doesn't mean Tony Jones Ch 9 sports reporter? He fell and cut his leg - 2 week injury
  12. It's nice to think the cheersquad can help out here but some of us are at the ground at 9am doing what's necessary for the day. Behind the scenes we put in very long hours of volunteer work, usually without a computer in our laps. If you want some Cheersquad assistance we need notice. I can tell you about a game at Etihad Stadium next week. It's our home game. Don't sook about not liking Etihad. Just get there, be vocal, support our team....OUR TEAM....'cos if we don't noone else will
  13. Nothing to be gained by this. Let Bailey play out his contract. Are we really going anywhere in 2011?
