Dunn - was he playing??

Looking at the official stats, he had 8 possessions. Which is only 2 more than Davey and he broke down. I'd say it was a shocking performance but I can't ever remember him touching the ball, so maybe diabolical is a better term.

Dunn was a major disappointment. He was coming off 5 goals with Sandy and was supposedly fit. Today he couldn't even do the basics, he seemed lost and didn't understand his role (read 'gameplan') He continually ran to the wrong spots on the wrong side. At one stage he couldn't seem to make up his mind whether to tackle or not so he just escorted his opponent through the centre square without applying any pressure. Having said that, I wouldn't drop him, I'd play him in position... Half Forward leading and presenting, playing on and swee[ing the ball with good passes to the 30 metre spot. That's what he does well... JUST LET THEM PLAY!!!! They are over coached... no intuitive football being displayed. C H R I S T !!! These guys have been playing the game for years... let them play GAMEPLANS are for contenders!

BTW his time at CHB showed he should never be further away from pur goals than the wing!

Sorry to say it but Newton and Dunn have little to no chance of being any part of a successful future.

You've either got it or you aint.

They aint. You've got to show something even if you're still got L-plates.

Yes, you're absolutely right. Michael Newton and Lynden Dunn are complete write-offs and we should just let them go now, because they are obviously useless and will never be decent footballers.

FOR $#%#^ SAKE.

Harden up, people.

Dunn and Bartram both clearly showed today that the speed of the game is hard to adjust to when you havent played senior footy all year. Dunn looked slow and flat footed most of the time, and had no speed to run to the right places for contests. Bartram suffered the same fate to a lesser extent, but he did show signs of the old Bartram, and can be forgiven these in his first game given his lengthy spell out.

Having said that the more and more I watch Dunn, he's built like Tarzan, but plays like Jane.

Newton needs to harden up

Dunn should get more chances than many others in our team today.

I think it's too early to be writing these guys off, and I think Dunn's showed a little in his time at AFL level.

NB: I agree with Waltham33's assertion - Dunn hasn't looked great down back.

I'm a Dunn fan but he had a Barry Crocker on Saturday...also looked leg weary from the start, maybe some of the players expended too much on the track* this week?

* With Ward & Johnstone gone can now use this term without fear of confusing this phrase with Flemington / Caulfield

dunn is a good as useless, never been a big fan of him, to small to play kpp, to slow to be a midfielder and just to dumb and selfish to play anywhere else! eg, no giving the ball back and conceding a 50 metre penalty because his man was running of! and also why was he and jace bode walking around at sandy as if they were heroes! Complete wankers if you ask me!

he looked massive when he came out and I thought wow he might be in for a good year.... He was less than sparkling.

Looked slow, and leg weary as pointed out higher up this thread.

I have also never seen a team escort opposing players with the ball the way MFC players do. The doggies and Hawks both smashed us in tackles executed (effective tackles) we so often escort the ball carrier for ten metres before trying to apply pressure allowing them ample space and time to find a target.

We also can't tackle for sh!t, how many times did the doggies break tackles or were able to get arms free to handball to advantage and find a target!! We'd finally corral the, and they'd slip out a cheeky handball to a player running past, whilst we would trun it over, bang goal!!

While im loathe 2 knock a kid so early on in his career, sadly Dunn aint got it.

FYI Lynden, your'e supposed 2 run towards the ball, not away from it ! BOO!

you are all pathetic. 2 years ago, Dunn was being compared to chad cornes. just because the team is getting pumped every week doesn't mean our players are any worse as individuals, it means they have become diabolical as a team.

Dunn should be used as a third tall in the forward line(brad fisher style)...dunn is a good player, no doubt about it.

Newton is a good young player also. It can't be denied, he kicks a goal every game, presents well and has a straight kick. june last year opposite team supporters were saying that he is our best youngster. He is still up there.

The fact that you call yourself 'supporters' is pathetic. You are the complete opposite. The first thing I would want to do during these times where our whole team is not playing well is to create a 'Brad miller- DUD' thread every week but I have restrained myself and refuse to create one!..have some self-control, back the team and look for the positives in our performances...as small as they may be.

Cut the guy some slack.

It his first senior game this year and he had problems adjusting to the tempo.

He will be much better for the run as will Bartram.

If Rivers play this week he also will look out of sorts for a while..its just a huge jump from the speed of VFL to AFL.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
