@Ghostwriter Heard on SEN, Guerra came down and sat with the Demon Army in the 3rd. Did he get around you guys?

Yeah Paul’s great. He loves watching us do our thing and gets caught up in the buzz, especially after a goal; he looks around in amazement and knows he’s lucky not to have had an eye taken out.

He sits on an aisle seat in the fourth row and has promised me he’ll one day sit closer to the middle where the action really is. I think he’s working up to that.

As he was leaving our bay he called out “Ghosty! Keep up the great work and get the boys over the line!”

So I did 😂

You’re welcome 🤣

I took my young son to watch Dees v Lions at the MCG yesterday. Was a beautiful sunny, autumnal day for footy and a great game to watch. Whenever I take him to the footy I don't get to watch the game as well as when I go on my own (snack breaks, toilet breaks, kicking the footy outside at HT etc, lol) but will watch the full replay over the next day or so.

Great to see the Dees able to break away from the stodginess of the later Goodwin years and the fresh faces and ideas have really brought some excitement and entertainment to MFC!

Who went to work today & have people say to you, how can you beat Brisbane & lose to essendon last week?

Everyone at work has said that i must be delighted with the way the Dees are playing.

and they're not wrong.

shaping to be a great season at the G watching an exciting brand of footy

Kingy is working wonders with this group of players

All of those reasons are why you go to the footy with your boy rather than just watch it in the telly. I love the days I get to go with my boy and my old man, they’re the memories I take with me.

Yep and it kind of surprises me to be honest.

I forgot all about Essendon last week when we won yesterday, as in I didn't give a rats toss about it. Too busy being happy.

Gary Lyon for me. I know he loves the club but he completely overcompensates for his bias when commentating on our games. He sounds like he actually barracks for the opposition.

Agree 100% and his commentating Collingwood games is just as bad.

Kolt...unlocked?

I actually don't mind Healy as a commentator. Seems I'm the odd one out here.

I'm not sure that the players who are out injured are necessarily best 23 any more ... other than Bowey, and perhaps Rivers.

However future injuries will presumably facilitate their returns to the side at some stage ... I'm thinking Tmac, Viney, Salem. In each case, I think lack of pace is perhaps the main issue. I can relate to that ... even I've slowed down!!

Just finished watching the mini match on foxtel.

When they got within 3 points there was still 4 minutes left. What a good effort to stop them from kicking another goal.

I know I said it yesterday, but re watching that gawn/steele tackle on ashcroft get better & better. Max had his arms open ready to nail him & steele finished it off.

Just heard Leigh Montagna questioning the timing of Perry’s symptoms.. said it was strange that they came on so quick after a poor skill error. As if to suggest that Petty was trying to excuse himself of the blame for missing a target.

Absolutely taking the [censored] that bloke. Hope the club ask him to explain his point.

Also we’re just casually sitting above the lions on the ladder. Gah imagine we sorted out the bombers. Doesn’t matter though, I think this rebound tells us more about the team than a weird loss against the bombers who played out of their skins and have proven themselves to probably be on the up.

We would be sitting top 4 if not for the disastrous Gather (horror) round.

I say we should campaign to bin Gather Round.

I'm in!! Gee how wild would that have been? And with a (hopefully) (fingers crossed) (please) healthy (not big, I am not asking for much) win against the tigers this week, that would have been well and truly entrenched before the formidable task against the swans next week.

Seems it's just the bombers we battle against over there, though - didn't we have a successful 'business trip' over there not too long ago where we beat both Adelaide then Port Adelaide?

In my opinion I thought Essendon losing their game against Gold Coast was as important to their continuity as their first season game win against us. It stopped any possible turn around win run in it's tracks.

I didn't take it that way at all, I thought he was intimating it may have been an anxiety/panic attack related incident, possibly contributed to by an earlier head knock. I saw a number of people say Montagna thought he may have been faking it but I don't believe that's what he was saying.

When Tassie comes in just give us the bye 🤣

I thought JVR deliberately left his late kick short - assumed the idea was to create a deep stoppage as opposed to a behind where Bris could launch their own set play. Kicking to Lever would have been like dancing with the devil.

Also thought Montagna was intimating potential Panic attack etc. rather than 'faking'. He would know the plausability of that and the pressure these young men are under playing AFL.

Latrelle was unreal yesterday for a pick 12 in round 6. Amazing game.

I know. Sitting 5 & 1 would look so good.

If we steam rolled the Bombers would we have won yesterday, obviously we’ll never know. It’s been an interesting 3 weeks, I’m sure King has spoken to the players about what’s required but there’s enough experience on our list that the players themselves would already know.

I’m getting the same excited feelings I got in 18 and 21. We’re actually the most watchable team in the league at the moment. There’s so much growth to come too. I definitely think we’ll tire towards the end of the season, but there’s already so many more positives out of the first 6 weeks of this season than the last 2 years of footy.

Too bad we have Gerard Healey commentating every match, he’s a goose. Matt Hill and Corbin Middlemas however were brilliant.

I dont want to put a dampener on things but....

.. we lost the expected score 88 to 98

Turns out accurate kicking wins games. Who knew...

You learn more from losses than wins generally.... so maybe we wouldn't have had the 'learnings' from Gather Round

From a distance Petty was showing some evidence of a vaso- vagal episode where the pulse slows and blood pressure drops causing vision to tunnel and the person becomes weak pale and sweaty. I hope it is that and nothing more serious.

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
