Buckle up people. We are going on a nice ride upwards, I hope.

I imagine we will be staying down for a couple more years whilst we get the players we want in along with the ones we want out.

I’m happy to wait a couple more though, if it means King gets everyone to play as one team his way šŸ‘.

We needed a complete realignment as a result of the old decision makers arrogance/complacency. Thankfully we have started that process, but it takes more than one offseason to right the ship.

Bring it on.

Great communicator like Guerra. Both have been super impressive in front of the media. On initial impressions the board has got these appointments right. Don't expect the journos to change their tune for some time though as it doesn't suit them

Awesome, I'm still in the game. Just need to switch from my anthropologist host to my ecologist hat.

At this point his environmental management plan resembles a widespread controlled burn!

Is this 'veil of negativity' clean out version 2?

it’s funny, I didn’t notice him use ā€œweā€ when referring to Geelong but I certainly noticed the ā€œweā€ and ā€œourā€ and ā€œusā€ when talking about MFC. As with Paul, this is instantly endearing, although I pulled Paul up about an interview he did wherein he said ā€œā€¦ we won the premiership in 2021ā€¦ā€ I told him, ā€œYou’ve been with us for five minutes and you’re claiming our premiership as yours?!ā€ šŸ˜…

This morning’s interview with Kingy is a great listen and instils much confidence. I love the way he answers questions; he’s a straight talker and doesn’t baulk at any question. He said ā€œChomping at the bitā€ instead of ā€œChamping at the bitā€ but I’ll forgive him for this šŸ˜

But Steven KING is an exemption to this error šŸ‘‘ 🤓

When talking about Geelong’s GF performance he referred to them as ā€œweā€ at the start of the interview.

It was cringe and funny at the same time from the current MFC coach.

If this interview had only been a few hours later we could have got a good insight on Oliver...

King once again stated we are aiming for finals, he was meaning for Casey yeah?

We'll they are not going to agree with our decisions even if deep down they know they are right.

Otherwise they are out of a job.

I'm honestly surprised he wasn't asked about Oliver regardless.

You would expect that his head would be still spinning slightly but he sounds pretty focused and self assured, obviously a clear thinker and smart enough to keep Gary and Tim on side. Although Gary wanted to hear how he approached Tracc and Judd to sell the club and his philosophy to them in an effort to win them over. Will be an interesting watch over the trade and draft period.

Adding all the mooted trades to the existing delistings, we would actually be going into 2026 as an exceptionally young team.

May 33, Trac 29, Oliver 28, Billings 30, Spargo 25, Fullerton 26, Hore 29, and then fragments from the younger delistings.

Realistically that's an entire year taken off our average age, even if a few we bring in are a bit over-age.

Josh Jenkins is another nuffie. I don’t think ive ever heard him say anything of value

He was softer than me on the footy field too.

Don’t like him, he tells a 4 time winner of the best & fairest to f&$k off, just another Neeld, gut the club of our best players and screws the club, he’ll be sacked in 2 years with the club on its knees

jesus wept. he's been here 5 minutes

you should start an "Is Kingy the right guy" thread

I desperately need a "Good Grief" emoticon.

This isn’t the first time you’ve said he is like another Neeld appointment and still haven’t answered as to who you wanted to coach us?

It could happen. We don't know. we could be in the worst timeline. Are Demonlanders so scarred with MFCSS, that they're refusing to even think it's a possibility? Seems it, given the near-universal praise of his appointment and radio interview. Jobe Watson couldn't possibly get it wrong! laugh But I think I'll wait and see what we do over trade period and on the footy field to make that assessment!

Refreshing to see one person at least acknowledge it as a possibility, I'll give you that.

I feel for Steven King. Based on the interview, the club is in "win now" mode, but most rational football followers would see us in a rebuild.

Both Richmond and Hawthorn had a clearout of players post dynasty, and the next coach was hired to start the rebuild, with no expectation of playing finals.

Should we lose Trac, Clarry, May and McVee, with Viney and Lever on the decline, T Mac and Melksham on their last legs, King would need to be a miracle worker to make the finals in 2026.

I still believe that if Trac and Clarry remain at the club, and we get Flanders, finals is still a possibility with a refreshed game plan. But with a mass exodus of players, I think King is on a hiding to nothing.

I can be comfortable with this.

My one worry is who will be the next Max coming in? Who is out there for us to want - and get - at the end of those 'couple more' that, in his own veiled words, will see him out?

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven MayĀ

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
