VFL Showreel, R2: Max Heath highlights

Enjoy Max Heath's standout VFL performance for the Zebras

Noice!

And evidently more comfortable up forward than other previous ruck experiments 😉

(Doing a number on the Bombers, @Ghostwriter - will he be your new fave?)

You know your club values you when they are happy to accept a 4th rounder two years in the future for you.

Glad Max has come in to assist Max, in the event that both Max and Max play a game together hope we get maximum cohesion.

If Max is injured I wonder if Max will play or if they will select Tom.

Would be the climax of the season if they maximised their game time together to play to a supramaximal level. Actions speak louder than words though which is a maxim hopefully they both adopt.

He actually just wanted to be the first list manager in history to trade a 2027 pick! Congrats TL.

Believe Saints have that honour with the Liam Ryan trade earlier today.

I wouldn’t take it personally

Ross doesn’t value his first choice ruckman or his captain either

Anyone heard how long a contract he has been given?

His contract might run out before the draft pick changes hands!

A needed part of the list. Will probably cost a 2nd round pick given he's a young ruck.

Only 22 as well.

No slight on Random Task - I would have thought much the same - but to get for a 4th round pick in the 2027 (compromised) draft, it is an absolute steal!!

It reads like ‘look you can just take Heath, but how funny would it be if you only gave us…’

Thought I heard somewhere it was 3 years..?

Welcome to the MFC Max Heath so glad that you have come onboard, you have made the right choice young man, right size, right age , right price and imbued with the necessary aggression to make it in the AFL / VFL.

Saints stockpiling late picks for the 2027 draft.. by then there might not even have points attached to them for currency.

Welcome to the club Max. A great opportunity to learn from a champion and time your run to step into his boots.

I went to North vs Saints late in the season and Heath impressed me with his physicality, something we haven't really had in a backup ruck since Preussy. Think he snagged a couple that day as well.

Shrewd bit of business here.

With no more supersub.... can see him being an important role in our forward line, ruck duties.

Welcome Big fella! You will become a cultural figure around here if you bash and crash for us.

Good luck!

yep , I'll back in Big Maxy has worked for me once

He can start growing his beard now ...

Welcome aboard Max

Can’t imagine anyone will complain about spending a future 4th on a ruck who at least has some AFL experience under his belt.

Hopefully he turns into a great AFL level ruck but even if he doesn’t, this is still a good trade.

With the sub now removed, I can easily see Heath playing a few games especially as the forward ruck roll very similar to Hayden McLean.

Can absolutely clunk them!

Welcome to the big Moose indeed. Perhaps I'm calling this a bit early, but this is the highlight of the trade period so far for me.

Can't wait to see JvR clunk one and pass off to Heath who's pushed forward, then the crowd can all yell "ROOOOOOOOOOOO", then "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE"

Will simply things around the club too. The ruck department can now just be know as the Max department. Going by the previous clip, it looks like he doesn't Sh T the bed in front of goal like Gawny either, which is a bonus.

Based on "the play kids" type mantra we've heard with respects to big Adams being preferenced over May etc, then there's a great opportunity for this guy to break into the side at some point as you'd think that Tom Campbell becomes a playing VFL ruck coach, role model and break glass in emergency type of option for us in the ruck, although maybe with 5 on the interchange bench, there's an opportunity to bring him is to tag team with The Moose and rest Gawny completely in a few games this season.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
