5 Flags….

During the Merger insanity i spoke to Brian a couple of times

A Very Passionate Demon….

One of my all time favourite players! Very sad to hear of his passing. Condolences to his wife and family.

Gone, but not forgotten!

Robbo put it on his Facebook page hours ago but hadn't read it anywhere else.

Legend of the club.

What a shame we couldn't show him more success

Vale

Missed the 1955 flag because he disobeyed Norm Smith and played in an interfaculty game at Melbourne Uni just before the Grand final

Had he abstained, would have joined Barassi and Bluey Adams as 6x flag players

RIP Brian.

Condolences to family and friends.

Arguably the two greatest wingmen for the MFC are no longer with us.

A sad day.

A sad day - #9 on the wing was one of my earliest memories at the Demons in our glory days. And he remained a passionate D forever.

RIP Brian Dixon another of our Legends passed, condolences to Family, friends and the Demon Legion.❤️💙🙏

Lead the no-merger rear guard with Alan Johnson.

As passionate on the club staying independent as any player at the time (and there weren't many...he was swimming against the tide) and no doubt that was a part of his DNA given the flag / NS glory years.

There was fight, grit and character. At all times a genuine Demon through and through.

I spoke to him after a rally in the city around that time and was very inspired with his feedback.

Never got to watch him live but apparently an absolute stalwart from all accounts and reveared by many.

Vale Dicko!

Rest in Peace Brian Dixon. A Demon great. Condolences to his family.

What a champion of champion Demon sides. I didn’t see the best of him but my Dad played against him and said he had arms like tentacles.

Oh man, this one is depressing.

RIP Brian, great man.

Champion player and even better bloke!! a sad loss for MFC, football and society in general!

So sad, 89. Memories of him. Great winger.

Unique kicking style. Held the ball close to his body. RIP Brian. Have a few end to ends with Barass.

Sad to hear Dicko dies.

He should be honoured at the Caulfield race facility for he was the first I had heard who advocated for a move there in the merger talks/Gutnick era. We would have been years ahead of our current plans.

Apart from his five premierships , I recall him winning the best and fairest in an interstate Carnival.

Tassie Medal winner, 1961, outstanding player in the interstate carnival.

I’m incredibly saddened to hear this news.

Never to be forgotten.

RIP Dicko #9

In 2010 I went to have a hit of tennis with my wife at Anglesea tennis club only to find the courts were locked. A car pulled up and out jumped an elderly gentleman who introduced himself in a very strong voice, (not unlike John Clark in a Clark and Dawes segment) as Brian Dixon, Melbourne and did we want have a game? I said the courts were locked but that was no impediment, he went to check and somehow managed to open the lock so the doubles game was on. ( I pointed out I was a long suffering Dee supporter and knew exactly who he was.)

Me and my wife in our early 50’s versus Dixon and John Birt of Essendon FC fame both in their mid 70’s! Amazing to think that between us there were 7 VFL premierships on that court at Anglesea that afternoon. Shouldn’t have been a problem working over these geriatrics especially as I was exploiting Johnny Birt’s lack of sideways mobility due to his recent knee replacement, by serving it wide. Hey we were playing for keeps! We took the first set 6-4 only for me to tear my Achilles tendon approaching the net in the first game of the second set! Retired hurt and off to emergency and 3 months in a moon boot while Dicko and John Birt called their wives out of the car to resume the game!

RIP Brian Dixon

It's Game Day and the Demons will be running out on the field with a new Head Coach, albeit a caretaker, for the first time in 3,060 days when they face the Western Bulldogs at the MCG today. What do you want to see from the Demons in the first match of the Post Simon Goodwin era?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
