Gawn and Petracca senior leaders missing relative sitters (Tracs a bit harder but should be nailing those) absolutely kill us. Not good enough.

Chandler burning Fritsch open in the pocket. Not good enough.

Pressure for 2nd quarter back to rubbish levels. Not good enough.

They deserve a rocket at halftime.

With how putrid we are at defending fast ball movement, I'm surprised we've won a game tbh.

I'm not one to do my block but that was disgraceful. All that effort to set up chances and then laziness, sloppy work, even arrogance. They need the biggest spray of all time.

OUT GODFORSAKEN COACH!

Terrible game of footy. Half time score in good conditions what decent sides would post in a quarter.

Our inability to capitalise on this clearance dominance is ridiculous.

Watch Reid kick three in the second half just to add insult to injury.

Did not take our chances. Then played liked heroes expecting it would come with half ar$sed efforts. Then a slight lift in pressure from a C grade team and senior players start to panic with the ball. So Melbourne.

Playing one tall forward in Petty which is no tall forward when he chops out in the ruck is up there with one of Goodwins worst selection decisions.

Be hard to win now they have their tails up. Over there its a different kettle of fish. Once you give them a sniff at home - its hard to swing back momentum. We wont win now. They kicked 6 points before they kicked a goal, then kicked 4, lucky for us Reid missed a gimme. Gawn playing well, Tracc playing well, Langford dominating, Windsor started well. Rivers sh*thouse, Tholstrup hopeless, Melksham - please retire.

The Eagles just playing man on man ....

That's enough to get on top of us and turn the match

This reminds me of my fuel gauge when I was on the dole.

No run and carry from our backline and our fwd line still stinks.

Fritta and Petty just ain't up to it. At least tonight.

Despite all the criticism of Oliver , we could certainly use him tonight because Kozzie and Viney ain't the answer today.

Our transition into ourvfwd line in the first was fast and direct.

That quarter was just indecisive and slow and into a quagmire.

What has happened to the new gameplan

That second quarter was the worst I have seen in decades.

Goodwin either has no idea of a game plan, and / or cannot inspire his players. Either way he needs to join Dutton in retirement.

lol 'retirement'

It's OK everyone.. the 3rd qtr is coming up... you know ...our Good One 👍😉

That was a poor last 10 minutes but the umpiring in this game is an absolute disgrace. If we get within 40m of goal its an automatic free to the Weagles. First quarter we had their backmen cold dropping the ball, play on, for us Tholstrup and Pickett dropping the ball the latter an unbelievable decision. The non frees in front of goal and frees to them are to me cheating and not umpiring in the moment, I'm over it. add our poor kicking for goal and ridiculous unrealistic marking attempts forward and it is unwatchable.

Followed by the 4th quarter where we are like 30-250 or whatever so far this season.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
