GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Geelong

Featured Replies

a lot of cats supporters down here are not confident, Darcy Fort smacked them in the ruck and they expect Gawn to do worse.

I have zero confidence in us winning based on what we have done so far and how slow we are, but, the first 2-5 minutes of the game will tell the story.

Geelong by 72

How do I feel about tonight? Generally speaking when it comes to football I’m an optimist. But sadly this year footy which is like a religion to me has just become just a game and after this week I might even end up hating the game.

The only upside to all this is I tend to get things wrong. I picked the Dees to win in the first three weeks, I now have tipped them to lose. Hope I’m wrong again.

Kozzie owes us a big game & our forward line has to function.

Kozzie owes us, to be quite frank, aside from the game against GWS in round one, the whole team owes us

Look I just hope we come out tonight with a good solid win, which will be a loss within 5 goals.

Cats by 7, we turn our season around

Heading to the game.

Highlight of the night I expect will be the McDonalds, KFC or Hungry Jacks on the drivr back home

At least we were accurate that day and were generally efficient going inside 50.

Only a serious demonlander could see a positive from that result crazy crazy people

Im not very optimistic about tonight, but I'm still excited to tune in and watch the boys (pretty sure i'm in the late stages of stockholm syndrome by now)

I'm not fussed if we lose, I just want to see buy in to this new game plan we keep hearing about, because if that happens, i'm sure we will be competitive a la GWS in round 1. I just don't want to watch the last two weeks on repeat tonight.

Time for Max, Vines, Tracc, Fritta and Co to lead from the front, the young lads crack in each week and so far this season, it is our older more experienced campaigners that can learn a lesson from the rookies. Tonight will be telling, will the response come??

Go Dees!

Time for actions to speak louder than words.

It is now up to the Demons players to perform and show pride in the jumper. ❤️💙

This would be an ideal result and more realistic to contemplate than a win.

If we're losing by 7 points we've either played a brilliant 1.5 to 2 quarters and gone to sleep in the other 2 (similar to the second loss to Brisbane last year), or a repeat of the GWS game whereby both clubs trade leads and momentum all night. Either outcome hopefully gives us some confidence to roll the Dons next week.

Another 10 goal loss and I don't know where we go from here.

A triple figure loss and I do know where we go from here.

Emotional states and losing margins

We lose but by under 10 points = hopeful. Also a bit disappoined but feel we still have a pulse in 25. Demonland has an upbeat but deflated flavour.

We lose by 30 ish = Still a bit hopeful, must have done a bit right, but a bit [censored] off too. Demonland is divided...anger venting in certain corners begins.

We lose by 30-45 = We feel a bit sick, someone on DL has a melt down and while people try to point to the positives ir turns into a group avalanche.

We lose by 45- 65 = We're angry....people want change. Demonland looking for player scapegoats. Blood letting begins.

We lose by 65 plus = Worst scenario. The nuclear option. Microwaves coming for membership cards. Goodies days are also officially numbered. We now know exactly how deeply we're [censored] and 2013 trama memories are triggered ( ie Gillies played CHB...Watts drops chest marks and Neeld is coach) Only the brave visit demonland. Due to damage inflicted, new TV's are searched for on Sat morning with promises to our partners we wont watch again in 25.

A close loss will really pizz me off.

So we try hard against good teams only?

If we tried as hard as we did against GWS we would have beaten North and probably the Suns

I missed both of our last two games due to family commitments. Sorry about that folks. I'll watch tonight and I'm sure all will be right with the world as we pick up another honourable loss just like in R1.

If we lose, no matter the margin, there’ll be the obligatory knee-jerk new threads. The only question is how many of these there’ll be. I’m guessing the bigger the loss the more threads.

Cheer squad OGs have told me of how in the dark days if we lost by less than two goals they’d sing the song. That’s so sad.

Anyways that won’t happen tonight, only if it’s under a goal will we sing the song. 😂

So with my membership card being on my phone, do I torch the phone in the microwave?

I am filled with very little confidence we will be competitive, let alone a chance of winning.

Sincerely hope I'm proven wrong somehow. If we switch on now there's no reason we can't still aim for September.

dr-evil-one-billion-and-million-dollars-

I’m going with history.

2019 - Us 0-3, Swans 1-2 and we travel to Sydney and get our first win.

2025 - 0-3, Cats 1-2…

That’s pretty much all I got.

Luckily my membership card is inside a frozen takeaway container with leftover spaghetti bolognaise in it.

I can honestly say I would never have thought of that again unless you'd mentioned that here. That was a memory I had left to a part of my mind I never return to.

Got the number 27, too! Wow.

Ok, so I know this sounds masochistic, but I took it upon myself to re-watch last weekend's game yesterday. I saw a lot more positive signs than I remembered from watching it live last weekend. I'm more confident that with the skills and run that our ins this week bring, we'll be competitive.

Go Dees!

Gates open at 3:20pm. The Casey game starts at 3:50pm. It would be great for the Casey boys to see and hear support, so anyone who can get to Mordor early enough to catch even just part of the match, please do this.

Besides supporting the Casey players, being there for two matches also justifies the criminally high price of a ticket. Idk about y’all but I had to fork out $65 for the privilege of sitting in the away cheer squad bay. God how I hate that club.

$65? Outrageous.

But l was there for 186 and paid $70 for a reserved seat.I was with my mate and we got to sit in the forward pocket. On a bench seat of 3 planks of wood - pre WW 2 vintage. It had no back.

GFC = rip off merchants.

It's a better looking side but still no KPFs. Cats by 7 goals.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
