I just have this feeling we will win this week. Call me mad call me insane but I think this backs against the wall stuff will simply get us over the line. We should have our best line up all year with McVee, Windsor, Pickett and Spargo back. BOOKMARK IT

If we don't win I will go down to Gosh's paddock naked with the smallest of small flags to cover my privates!

Please send me a kilo of your optimism.

Time to go Werridee?

Just kidding, I reckon we're a sneaky chance as well. 10 years ago we did it with Brayshaw having his best game ever and Gawn announcing himself. We're up against it again and Kosi Pickett might be just the spark our midfield, forwards and defenders sitting back need lol

For a start McVee is still injured and is about 2-3 weeks away.

Turner will be in after 5 goals for Casey.

We should definitely have our best side in so far this season.

I've never wanted to win a game as much as I do this one.

Has @WERRIDEE revealed his true identity? Is his real name Ray Stevens?

I'm with you! Feel like our senior players will lift and kozzy will bring a spark that we have been missing

A lot of pride in this group, will come out with a lot to prove. Although I was thinking that last week before the suns game 😅

I hope the boys don't read this W as they might be tempted to chuck this one just for the entertainment factor at Gosch's on Monday

Just be careful as they're playing a bit of soccer at the moment and might mistake yours for....well you know. Things could get ugly!

I'll have a serve of whatever you've had tonight

If the game is decided by speed of ball movement on offense, I can't see us winning

Plus, it's Geelong at Geelong

My attention will be on how our offense operates. A vast improvement would be needed in order to win so I'll settle on decent improvement

That would raise the hopes looking ahead

Yeah. But 10 years ago that side had some spirit and grunt, it would probably beat this current 2025 piece of [censored].

I was at that Game in 2015. It’s the second best home & away win I’ve ever seen.

The best was when we beat Hawthorn in 2016 just ahead of when Jack Watts kicked the sealer on QB in 2017.

Funnily enough when Fritsch kicked that dribbler last year at the G that was an epic win. Pitty the only dribbling he is doing this year is the type that Bruce Willis was doing in 7 monkeys

I’ve also got a sneaky feeling about this week. We may not win but I think we’ll play well. I also think we’ll win the following four games and be 4 and 4 after round 8. You heard it here first.

I like this thread. Starting to feel optimistic about this game as well.

would be brilliant if we could win at that sh*tpile.

If you’d held off on posting until this morning, you could have claimed April Fools. Oh well. But given that it’s getting colder, we’ll understand why it’s the smallest of small flags.

Four scenarios I can see happening:

1) There are five golden tickets in the world and we found one of them (without the help of Veruca Salt's Dad buying 90% of the chocolate bars). We somehow pull off a ''backs to the wall'' miracle win.

2) The performance I was expecting against Gold Coast and occurred in round 1. A well fought out 4 quarters with the lead ebbing and flowing all day, but we just fall short. A performance they can take confidence in with 3 bottom 6 sides coming up in the next month.

3) A replica of rounds 2 and 3. A mistake riddled 3 quarters and then give up in the last. A 50-75 point loss with no signs of improvement.

4) the players make a 2011 like statement. A vote of no confidence in the coach, the game plan and even off field leadership as we simply don't try on the way to a 130 point loss. The coach's role becomes untenable.

Ok....but you can't possibly be wrong outlining these. Take a risk, which scenario are you going with? I think Im with scenario 2.

I was pretty keen on that last game in September 2021.

after seeing the "effort" on saturday i think #4 is on the cards.

Probably scenario 3.

We're not quite at Fitzroy levels or Melbourne circa 2013 to allow a 120 point loss.

We get better with the expected ins this week, the cats aren’t flying (although they’re better on their own soccer pitch), you’d expect some sort of bounce after the heat we’re copping.

Need the mids to at least breakeven, and find a way to hit a forward with the football. Goals are coming almost by accident at the moment.

I don’t see a win here but I’m all for the positive thinking.

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.

  • PREGAME: Geelong

After a one-year reprieve, the Demons return down the freeway to Kardinia Park — the site of both one of our greatest triumphs and one of our darkest days — as they face the Cats under Friday night lights. This one could get ugly. Who comes in, and who comes out?
