Dees -2024 picks 28, 40, 46, 54 & 65 PLUS first-round pick in 2025.

We've given up that second round pick a few times over the years. A pity because that's where recruiters earn their dollars.

Our second round pick at the end of 2025 could be important in the scheme of things

Yep, and whilst a future first for pick 9 (which became 11) will draw the headlines especially if we give Essendon a top 5 pick that won’t be the bit that bothers me too much. Especially if XL can become an on baller and not just a flanker/wing. Worthy dice roll.

But the extra cost for pick 28 (which became 32 from the ANB trade) and 40 (roughly 46) in the trade (not so worried about 54 and 65) in a really deep draft hurts. We have to take more useful draft picks and develop them up. Constantly trading up rather than letting the draft fall to you is a way to end up with stuff all depth as we have now.

I do this anyway with how much things cost these days.

Happy X is cleared of major damage. Few games in you can see he adds a level of composure not within some of our lads.

Amazing news for the kid.

Medial can be up to 6 weeks but let's hope it's only a few weeks and he is back round 6

Have you forgotten to mention that all picks are pushed further down the list purely because of the way NGA and Fatherson selections are factored in the draft. Those b players can’t be counted and you are trying to m sad kenout our policy is counterproductive.

Let’s spoil a bad story with an inaccurate mistruth.

It does seem like the club weren't interested in the later picks and perhaps they were also aware of the compromised draft in 2025. Maybe they have their eye on an academy or potential father/son 😉

Such a massive relief!

We all feared the worst. An ACL would of been devastating!

Glad that Xavier will be alright. ❤️💙

Wishing him a speedy recovery from his knee injury.

wouldn't an "inaccurate mistruth" be the truth?

It is good news of course but an MCL can still be several weeks, right? Seem to remember Gawn missing a few weeks from one and Salem missing half a season, but my memory is hazy!

Fantastic news!

And with Langford showing his wares yesterday, we can look forward to both players excelling in the colours (this season)

Sounds like a grade 1 medial injury which is generally not long

Lindsay, Langford and Windsor are the future. Probably give Rivers the chance to captain the side. Trade for a forward and Backman and get some decent mids.

What came first the chicken or the egg

Outstanding news for XL, our Club and us supporters.

I’ m about to open a fine old Shiraz to toast the lad, on behalf of all of us 🍷.

Interesting views here on our drafting strategy.

I believe Lindsay and Langford (like Windsor) have the making of long-term elite contributors, which any aspiring top-four team has to have.

To get them we had to make some sacrifices on picks which could have been used to build depth. For me, quality always counts more than quantity.

Anyway, drafting has never been an exact science (eg Max Gawn hasn't done badly for a pick 34) and I have every confidence in our current draft decision-makers.

Our biggest issue has been not being able to attract any solid free agents during the 2021-2023 seasons, not necessarily stars but solid best 22 players to fill in the gaps. Given we haven't been able to do that, packaging up picks every year has hurt our depth.

We will need our 2nd rounder likely for Toby Sinnema. Probably have to trade one in for Kalani White.

It all depends on how their season pans out as to what we will need in terms of picks.

I think we did very well getting Langford and Lindsay in last year.

More than a few on here want everyone at the club gone.

I've only ever wanted Pert and Neeld gone. I was joking about the medical staff letting X run in a straight line

We needed to catch a break, great young kid.
